New MCU films announced

At this point Disney could literally put a jar of mayo on-screen for two hours that resulted in the deaths of a thousand orphans while filming it but with the right marketing make billions.

If you look at the top 10 worldwide grossing movies for 2019 so far, 5 were Disney/Marvel movies and another (Spider-Man: Far from Home) was made by Disney for Sony. And all 6 of those have either already hit a billion or more, or will hit a billion before their run ends.

That channel just uploaded the reveals today. I've been watching them back to back.

The reveal video about Thor: Love and Thunder has some spoilers.

CBR article - Marvel Studios already knows the phase 5 movies, and the eventual crossover.
Money quote from the article:

Will we finally see a Marvel Vs DC film?!

Superman vs. Captain Marvel? Batman vs. The Winter Soldier? Who knows. Considering that the DCEU is in shambles, I don’t know that I’m actually hoping for any crossovers, to be honest.

My thoughts/hopes? With the reintroduction of Blade into the MCU, that’s gotta mean vampires - and hopefully, the big D himself. Does anyone else remember the Tomb of Dracula comics? That character would make a fine Big Bad for the MCU, I think, if they’re brave enough to go there.
In fact, I’m guessing that’s the direction that the WandaVision/Doctor Strange movies might take. After all, the Darkhold already exists in the MCU. And they’ve described the Strange movie as “Gothic horror”, and what’s one of the progenitors of that? Good old Drac himself.

Okay, probably not…

No.

Once again i want to share my idea for the big baddie. All that time caper stuff created several timelines…our baddie is to revealed to be Kang as played by…Robert Downey Jr.

Spoiler: the part of Natalie Portman will be played by … Giada De Laurentiis.

Just me?

Tony Leung will play the Mandarin

(Stealing and expanding from my own post elsewhere)

I don’t care about the TV shows (I care about the characters but I won’t be able to watch them anyway so I can’t think about them) but ALL of the movies have me excited as hell. My ranking as of now.

  1. Shang-Chi
I’m not Asian but I love Chinese/Asian movies (wuxia, action, period, samurai, just about anything) so this excites me most. I love that the actor cast as Shang-Chi, Simu Liu, just tweeted at Marvel in hopes of being considered, and it worked! Plus I like Tony Leung (In the Mood for Love and a million other movies). And after seeing Crazy Rich Asians and The Farewell, Awkwafina will nail any character she plays. Plus I like that the writer/director of Short Term 12, Destin Daniel Cretton, will be directing. It will be great, and a massive hit.

  2. Eternals
MAINLY because of Don Lee (aka Dong-soek Ma). He’s been so great in so many movies but few westerners know who he is. Train To Busan was his biggest role that some westerners might have seen. I hope his role in this is big, and good, and he gets a whole new fan base. I like all the other actors cast so far too, and I like that it’s an unknown property (for me anyway because I’m not familiar with the comics) and I like to be surprised, the way I was with Guardians of the Galaxy.

  3. Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness
Doctor Strange & Wanda in the same movie? Oh man! The title alone is bonkers wonderful!

  4. Thor: Love and Thunder
Ok, I don’t like the title, but Thor is my favorite MCU character, and I’ve liked Natalie Portman since Leon: The Professional. Plus Valkyrie? Plus Taika again? Be still my beating heart!

  5. Black Widow
Last, because something has to be, but not least. I can’t wait to see this. Natasha is so freaking cool, but I want to see some of that red she has in her ledger. Plus Florence Pugh! Plus Budapest! Though I’ve not heard that Jeremy Renner will be in it, so I don’t know what’s going to happen in Budapest.

I forgot to mention, it thrills me that 2 of the 5 movies are directed by women. Chinese director Chloé Zhou (The Rider) is directing Eternals, and Australian Cate Shortland (Lore) is directing Black Widow. They’re both indie directors so Marvel obviously has a lot of faith in them. In Marvel we trust.

I only really know the Eternals from Gaiman’s miniseries, but I enjoyed that. I gather this film is going back to earlier lore, though.

I thought they killed off Black Widow in Endgame?

It’s going to be a prequel

Prequel

thought you were in the sequel

Well yes, but I’m in the Silmarillion too, so you can say I’m on the pre-prequel to end all prequels too :stuck_out_tongue:

Frodo Potter and the Avengers of the Justice League.
