My most humble apologies to you VCO3. I guess I should have given you the benefit of the doubt. It seems odd that in this day and age that one might grow to adulthood not knowing about the horrors of rape. Children in a lot of other countrys are not so fortunate. In any case, Peace be with you,OM.
Just to clarify. The reason I started this was to defend him against accusations of trolling. Not really defending some stupid shit he says, because there is plenty of that. Here’s some of the more recent things that were taken from that other thread:
What tipped me over the edge though was when A Monkey With a Gun, in my eyes, openly just called the guy a racist in the Cafe forum. How many other members would that be tolerated by? Oh, and** Monkey**, you are really winning the asshole award for this thread.
And for the record, you can call me guilty of being clique-y as well. Though not to the point where I will exclude my attention from other members.
I am drawn to his threads. He style is interesting. And I often agree with him in Cafe Society. I am aware of some of his more contraversial comments, but they don’t affect my enjoyment of any of his threads.
I really do love the interesting array of posters here at the dope. But I don’t see why folks shouldn’t pit him if he does something they find pit worthy.
It is inconceivable that an adult with normal brain function could wonder whether a rape, using his definition of a male forcing sexual intercourse on a female against her will, has in fact ever occurred.
I didn’t know I was Dian Fossey, here. I guess I’ll have to start a log. Still, I am surprised that someone like you who’s been here a while hasn’t noticed that (as is the case in many large dynamics) like-minded and like-interested people have developed relationships and formed cliques. As such, members of these groups appear to treat one another (the one’s they know and like) with more patience and courtesy. bigbabysweets2000 goes so far as to acknowldge his clique-eshness. I’ve never suffered thorugh an MMP, but my guess is that there are a lot of the same folks there, week in and week out, MMP-ing and that a regular will get more lattitude among his fellow MMPers than a “n00b” would. I’m not saying it’s on the level of middle school, but it’s still there.
People here are definitely a quick on the trigger with the T-word. But they’re not always wrong, and VCO3 is so dense sometimes that I don’t blame anybody for wondering. If his attempts to be nice to IndyGrrl turn out like they and his attempts to be inquisitive turn out like that rape thread - if that was an honest question, it’s worst-phrased one I’ve ever seen on this board… wouldn’t you wonder?
Ah, I didn’t realize that treating people you like better than people you don’t like counts as a “clique.” Under that definition, I suppose the SDMB is rife with cliques. But then, so is every other aspect of human interaction, so I’m not sure why it’s particularly note worthy when it happens here.
**BG **essentially is greedy. He appropriates for himself large pieces of what is basically an unregulated pie. 8 out of 50 threads? 16%? I enjoy GD, and lurk there much more often than I post, but I rarely open on of his. He’s a one trick pony, at least as far as that forum is concerned.
