VCO3 has been very supportive and helpful in the thread where I talked about my depression, and he knows a lot about contemporary music, which I like because it means I’ll have at least one reply if I start a thread on some obscure indie band.

The guy pretends to forget that Black Colleges exist. He brings in the completely irrelevant Michael Vick scandal, simply because Michael Vick happens to have the same damn skin color, and all I said was “I wonder about you”. How the Fuck do get can you say that I violated the rules of Cafe Society by “openly just called the guy a racist” when all I wrote was “I also wonder about you”.

That’s what I thought you meant, but to me that doesn’t really define clique. The fact that Hal Briston, Ellis Dee, What Exit?, and I are all vociferous GIANTS fans doesn’t make us a clique. The fact that I’ve interacted with these people more than, for illustration, you, whole bean, simply means I have a greater insight on when they’re kidding, when they’re serious, when I can take them lightly, and when to get my feathers ruffled.
Maybe it is just that my definition of clique is off, as I give it a negative connotation.

If I only read threads started by people I always agree with, or people whose writing and rhetorical style I agree with, I’d never be here. There’s damn few (relatively speaking) people here that at some time or another I thought were total assholes.

I respect IndyGrrl a lot, but there’s no doubt in my mind that she was pulling an Evil Captor and deliberately mentioning her job in threads that were just barely relateable to it. And let’s face it, when VCO3 dared reference her job in a slightly negative light, she jumped down his throat.
Was he being an ass hole? Probably.
But was IndyGrrl acting like a bigger ass hole? I’d have to say yes.
I have nothing but admiration for the level of outrage VC03 can muster regularly. I think he must be fairly young because of that; as you get older, cynicism takes the place of outrage when you realize what’s really going on in the world. I don’t think he’s stupid or a troll; he might be, but I don’t get that vibe. For what it’s worth, anyway.

I seem to recall VC03 being about my age, somewhere in the range of 23-26.
Anyway, I find him entertaining. He’s fun and informative in music discussions, though he brings a heaping helping of what-the-fuckery to any other topic. But, just because I think he says some really stupid or bizarre things at times and I don’t agree with him doesn’t mean I think he’s a troll. I think he’s weird, but I don’t think he’s a troll. And come on, sometimes it’s really fun to be outraged at one of the bizarre things he’s posted. It’s like having our own recreational outrage dispenser!
