Ok, here’s the deal. I go onto the Cafe Society board, for example. I see a thread that has new posts in it. I go to read the new posts and then leave the site or read a different thread. However, the next time I go back into that board, the icon to the left of the thread shows I have a new post to read in the thread that I was reading. Only it turns out that it was the same post I read 10 minutes ago. I don’t think its a timing delay issue or anything, because I can read the post at night and then the next day I go back into the board and it says that I have a new post and its still the same one from last night.
Is this just something I will have to deal with, or is it my computer or browser. I notice on my work PC, which is running on Firefox, but it also does it on my phone which is android based.
I see this behavior if I come back to the boards too quickly after my last visit. The last activity field isn’t updated, so it still displays things based on the old time.
New messages are based on when (in the board’s opinion, which sometimes will disagree with yours…) you visited the board, not based on which messages you’ve read.
