New puppy coming soon

A little over a year ago I lost my fuzzy buddy Duncan and since then I had been trying to find a similar dog. Last week I got a call from a breeder I contacted last summer and they just had a litter with a black and tan puppy. I think that I will name her Poppy. She is only a tick over 3 weeks old in the pictures I have of her. Unfortunately, because of her young age, Poppy won’t be able to come home for over a month yet. :dog:

Oh my goodness, so tiny! What breed is that?

She is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

What a cutie! Please keep posting pictures.

My neighbour has a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. It’s an absolutely adorable dog, beautiful and incredibly well behaved. Hope yours is just the same.

She’ll be my third King Charles. Duncan was the sweetest, most loving dog ever. Pepper is a bit more reserved but well behaved and kind.

I had a non pure bred Spaniel when i was very young. First dog I ever tried to train. She was smart enough to easily make up for my shortcomings as a trainer. Such a smart, sweet, loyal dog. Pixie.

We’ve had three Cavaliers, including a rescue. Amazingly affectionate and well-behaved dogs.

We considered getting another a few years ago, but the cost of pups from responsible breeders that have done all the necessary health screenings has gone through the roof.

Tell me about it. Many breeders around here had just stopped because of COVID. The ones that are still around are charging a premium and the quality breeders have a premium on the premium.

If Pepper is still alive you NEED to upload a pic of the both of them!

Here is a picture of Pepper from February. The dog sitter took the picture, Pepper was with her while I was recovering from my hip replacement.

ETA: She’s pretty cute in this picture.

Rubies are nice.

I love the ruby and the black and tan. The nice thing is many people have not seen them up close. The bad thing is they are not as ‘popular’ as a blenheim or tri-colour and as such much harder to find.

They are lovely, friendly dogs. A friend had loveable, well-behaved show dogs for years. May she be in good health, for surely she will be in good love.

Big mistake; a dog should be ‘dog’ or ‘puppy’ for the first 48 hrs or so until they pick their own name. That’s how I grew up with a kid whose dog was named ‘Pizza’; jumped up on a chair & stole two slices his first night with them.

That explains the legion of dogs named Stop That!, Put It Down and Get Off.

not just dogs

Sweet, we just adopted a Blenheim Cav a few days ago and should pick her up in a month’s time. Like others said, we spent a year during Covid trying to find a reputable breeder around here and there was absolutely nothing available. We finally found one about 300 miles away and are crazy excited for her. Cost more than most of my cars but what can you do?

For those who have had them before, do they really need constant time with their human? If she’s crate trained, can we pop down to the store for a few hours or will she go nutso?

I never saw evidence of significant separation anxiety with our Cavaliers, though they were always pleased to see us return from outings (they had freedom to roam about much of the house).

One time when we had a brother and sister act from different litters, they vanished and I looked all over the house for them, calling in vain. Finally I checked behind a bedroom closet door, and there they were, wagging happily at being liberated. Apparently they’d gone in there and the door swung shut, trapping them - but they were too well-mannered to bark, scratch at the door or otherwise alert us.

It seems she is a tough puppy to get pictures of but I did get a few new ones.

Getting something to eat.
Behind bars.
So cute!
