New Queer Eye (finally!) 11/18 - Jeff T

Naw, they can’t fire Jai. He’s the only ethnic minority representation in the Fab 5. You think it’s coincidence that when they got rid of the black queer they brought in a Latino queer to replace him? To do it again would make the tokenism too blatant.

Thom looks better with shorter hair, btw, and Jai looks better now that his has gone black. The cast album for his show ZANNA DON’T! is now available on CD if anybody’s interested.

Did anyone else get a vibe that Jeff was rather put off by Jai’s “certificate for wodworking lessons”? I got the impression that he thought he was there to give the woodcarving guy some of his pieces to sell, not to learn how to do it better.

Kinda like giving a book on “how to brew beer” to someone who’s been brewing beer for the last twenty years…

actually the dad reminded me a little bit of my own father, only not quite as goofy

the thing is: the camera got them all in a good mood. daddy’s getting a make over, so we’re not gonna bitch about my ass of a professor at school or how mom’s interrogating me about what i did with my boyfriend last night.

haha, no, in all honesty, i think its possible that they were genuine. its apparent that jeff and his wife have a wonderful relationship and did a great job raising their kids - he just needed a hair cut and some new clothes, that’s all. if anything, the episode was just very warm and fuzzy

Argh, I missed it! Bravo repeats 'em often, though. I’m SO hooked on that show now! Carson always has the best lines and I watch the reruns mainly for him. I love when they make fun of the really stupid ones, like the long haired guy that wanted his blonde girlfriend to move in with him. The Fab Five were reading notes on his bulletin board and I Ted (or was it Thom?) said “Is he retarded?”

More than likely Jeff is a friend of Bill W. After all, there was no wine advice from Ted, and Jeff has that gaunt look many FoBs have.

Yes, Jeff looked like Richard Chamberlain, if he were straight. And a little like David Bowie, if he were straight.

I’d imagine a male model would have a high comfort level with being on TV, trying on clothes, getting styled, posing for pictures, and hanging out with gay guys.

He really was a likable fella, and his family even more so. Both his kids were good looking.

Though, Jeff had a thin lip. He should have kept the moustache.

Peace.

Does Jai ver have anything to do? “Culture” seems like something covered by all the others.

How do you pronounce his name anyway? Jay or Jy?

Did anyone else notice that during the recent QE marathon, the only other programming scheduled on Bravo was the movie Five Easy Pieces? Someone has a sense of humor!

Strangely, though Jai is of a hispanic background (last name, Rodriguez), it is not pronouned HIGH as in the game, jai alai, but as JAY like in jay walking.

Perhaps his mom is Indian.

Peace.

The daughter kinda reminded me of myself at that age. When they showed her photo early on, I got the immediate impression of the “I’m a young teenage girl and I have braces and I’m a bit self-consious of my body so I pose akwardly in photos” vibe I had at the time. Of course, I could just be projecting. Anyways, I was really excited to see that she was going to hang out with Carson. I really hoped he was going to buy clothes for her, because at that age (hell, sometimes still now) I didn’t really know what looked good and what looked good on my, so I would’ve appreciated some advice. I also got along really great with my dad and was always pestering him to shave his beard (I first asked when I was 6, shortly after he grew it in the first place. It hasn’t come off yet, though he’s been trimming it steadily shorter for the past few years).

I thought it was a great episode. There really are nice families out there, and this seemed like one of them. Of course, maybe I was still picking up the vibe from the South Park Mormon episode last week.

I also picked up on the Friend of Bill W. vibe. Has there been an episode where they didn’t toast with alcohol? Of course, at my house, if you want drinks for six you get tap water, beer or Gatorade.

I was surprised that he let them shave his face clean. What a difference! I’d really like to shave off my mustache (for the first time in 25 years) but I want to lose another 10-15 pounds so that I only have one chin. But damn, the guy looked good.

I wish they’d go out of New York and go national. Heck, I’m a straight guy, with a cool house that is only 1/2 decorated, a bad bathroom (inlcuding shells and starfish painted on the walls - not by me.) and in need of a makeover.
