I like all the catagories at the SDMB, but may I suggest adding 2 more…
Carnal Knowledge! this would be a catagory for no holds barred, frank discussions about sex.
VICE! This would be a catagory about some of the more “adult” habits of SDMB members (i.e. drug use, etc). The difference this catagory would have from others is that we’d be allowed to post questions, comments, and links to web sites, without having them deleated.
I nomonated these 2 new catagories. Who seconds them?

Adding new categories shouldn’t add more work for the server, if vBulletin runs in any reasonable way. But I still don’t think the vice thing would fly–no one wants the SDMB to generate lawsuits.
One I would like to see is an “FYI” forum, where dopers can tell how to do something and divulge other useful information.
I would like to see a technical category for questions that need expert answers.

But tell me, why would a “VICE” catagory generate law suites?
Recently I started a thread about a company that sold Absinthe liquor through the mail. The mod, the highly respectable Bibliograph, deleted the link. How would have showing links like this bring law suits?
Because you’re disseminating information about how to do something illegal. They may be mostly baseless lawsuits, but they could still be expensive.
Why don’t we make it easier on the server and consolidate the comments on staff reports and Cecil’s columns? Then we could replace it with one on Carnal Knowledge AND Vice
I think we need a Movie/TV/CD Review forum, and also a flirting forum. And perhaps an antidote to The Pit; a praise forum, if you will.
How about one where all us guys could hit on all the girls. I bet they’d just love that, huh girls?
Definetly Carnal Knowledge! I was actually thinking the same thing the other day. I wonder how that would work since we have minors on the board though.
I would personally be thrilled if there was a POLITICS forum created and anyone talking about politics outside said forum was forced to watch movies of Jesse Helms making it with Ted Kennedy until their mind snapped.

How about a “Gun Control” board, and a “Evolution” board. Then maybe we’d get some original posts in GD.

I’d like a forum where I could go and watch lions and tigers and men fight amongst each other. Where I can see simulations of battles of both the land and sea varieties. A forum where a little bit of blood and a little bit of death weren’t bannable offenses. Yes, that’s what I’d like.
I’ll compromise 
Gun control as anything other than the basic philosophical point goes into the Politics board. Evolution/Creationism goes into a Religon board.

I always thought it would be cool to have an “Ask the ‘Expert’” forum (with “Expert” in quotation marks, indicating that this classification is by no means guaranteed) for all of the “Ask the” So-n-So threads. Some would be serious, some would not, but the important ones would hover near the top of the pile (“Ask the Gay Guy” comes to mind), whilst the frivolous ones (“Ask the One-legged Hermaphroditic Polydactyl Typesetter with Chronic Halitosis and a Yen for Carbonated Petroleum Distillates”) would sink rapidly to oblivion.
A religion board? But I thought this site was about fighting ignorance!
