I watched the first episode last night. I really what Amazon has done with this story, and Angels Flight was one of my favorite Bosch books.
Man, you really have to pay attention because they throw a LOT of exposition at you about previous seasons.
It looks like they’re going to put Eleanor Wish’s story back on track with the books. There’s something about the actress Sarah Clarke that intrigues me.
Well there’s my weekend sorted. Hope it rains tomorrow
We just finished it. Did anyone watch it all? Is there another thread I missed? What did you all think?
My comments:
I don’t believe Walker would have went all the way through those tunnels. That looked like a long walk in the dark. No way he wouldn’t have been sweaty and dusty when he got back to the party.
And those tunnels. I know the lighting was there so it wouldn’t be filming in pitch black, but I can’t help but think - those lights, burning steadily for…what? 50 years? More? No one ever going down there, but the lights still on, illuminating nothing for no one.
Staying at home has pushed us to watch Bosch, and I’m really enjoying it. I remember reading a few of the books about 20 years ago, apparently too long to be spoiled by any plot points. We’re just starting the 5th season, and binged the first 4 in just the last week. Great performances and solid writing – my only quibble is that sometimes it makes LA seem a bit too small… like everyone already knows everyone, and the secret plots are usually being made by someone the characters already know.
Amazon has a trailer out for Season 6, with episode release on April 17th.
I really liked the first 4 seasons. But the last one just didn’t make any sense to me. After you watch season 5, can you could say whether you liked it or not?
I liked it a lot – just as much as the others. A few great moments – like the fight on the airplane and the courtroom scene. It’s almost a bit ridiculous how much of a badass Harry is, but it’s still a lot of fun to watch.
The new season has dropped, for those with interest. It’s started out with a bang, although I’m not sure about the ancillary story lines with the daughter and with Crate & Barrel and Hector. The show runners are still paying attention to whomever is their on-set police advisor. Shows quite often hire these folks and then ignore what they’re being told is correct procedure, but that’s clearly not the case with this series. The weapons handling, entry search protocol, etc are all authentic. As my wife says: the series is “smart”. The cops and others are not caricatures, but rather have a ‘real’ feel about them.
Did he always have those mutton chops, or is he morphing into Isaac Asimov?
Distracting, isn’t it? I thought it was a good season, though. Next one will be the last.
Decided to watch starting with season 1 all over again. Have to stop every 5 minutes to explain to the wife what’s going on. That 6 foot deep hole in the back yard is becoming much more alluring. Not sure which one of us might end up there!
The actress playing the “boot” that Bosch is carrying on with has been playing a serial killer on this seasons TV show “The Rookie”.
Well, I blew through season 6 in a few days in spite of my resolution to ration the episodes. (Same reason I can’t be left alone with a giant bag of sour cream & onion Ruffles. :o No self control.)
I love this show. I really like Bosch, I like his boss (HER boss is an asshole), I like the fact that even though Crate & Barrel are old geezers, they’re still portrayed as savvy and competent. I like J. Edgar. I like Bosch’s relationship with his daughter. I LOVE his house, and I love the bracelethe wears (daughter wears one, too).
How long do we have to wait for the next season? I’ve read that season 7 will be the last one. ![]()
I agree with all this! Its consistently high quality is very unusual IMO.
Coincidentally, I’m now reading the last Bosch book in the series (#20). The plot of the book is actually the basis for last year’s season with the plane and the addicts. It also includes Mickey Haller (the Lincoln Lawyer), who is also Bosch’s half brother.
