Yep, when you see people do a good thing, it’s best to support them. MAGA will never, ever understand that.
Totally understand. I just worry about the backlash when a right wing group hears that there were kids protesting without even know what they were protesting about. Solidarity and empathy seem to be foreign to them. They stand firmly on the ‘fuck you, I got mine’ side of things. Besides, if that were to become a talking point, there’s no shortage of people at Trump rallies and RW protests that have no idea why they’re there either, and they’ll happily stand in front of a camera and make sure the whole world knows how clueless they are.
OTOH, I like that a lot of people are emphasizing that the song doesn’t even have words. If you’re not familiar with it, as I’m guessing most people, myself included, aren’t, you’d have no reason to know what it’s about.
I know what it’s about now. But It’s just nice music. WTF?
And therefore, it scares the shit out of them. So, pour it on.
Yes, but it was written by one of Them.
How do they even know? Oh, I got it, they are looking for people to persecute. So they search for them. Not that ‘they/them’ ever caused a tiny fraction of distrubance in their miserable lives. But losers MUST beat down on somebody. to make them feel superior.
It’s the only way losers, like Donald and his supporters can feel better.
They could simply translate the title into Arabic: Mother of Revolution = أم الانقلاب Umm al-Inqilāb. Or Persian: مادر انقلاب Mādar-e Enqelāb. Has a nice ring to it.
Wait till the MAGA crowd learns about “Switched-On Bach.”
How many of the people whose knickers got knotted over The Passion of the Christ or The Satanic Verses (to name only two) saw the movie / touched, let alone opened, the book? All they needed to know was that their spiritual leaders condemned the work in question; beyond that, the less they knew the better for their souls.
If the school board is going to check the music intended for a school concert, how about bad music, like God Bless the U.S.A. or This Is My Country? Really horrible patriotic stuff.
A lot of folks of the typically twisted knicker variety liked that one, actually. Old fashioned passion play with lots of gore? They’ll watch that all day long and encourage the kids to do the same.
An actual questioning and examination of faith like The Last Temptation of Christ or just a comedy like Dogma? Oh, Lawd no, you’re going to hell just for thinking of watching anything like that
Have criminal charges been filed against the principal yet?
Has anyone who thinks “God Bless the USA” ever actually paid attention to the lyrics? Patriotic is the opposite of what it is.
Also Life of Brian.
You may be thinking of Born in the U.S.A.
The lyrics actually seem appropriate for a “No Kings” rally to me.
That song seemed to play nonstop for a while after 9/11 though, I’d be happy to never hear it again.
How many decades now have they been playing “Born in the USA” at rallys FFS?
No, I’m thinking of “God Bless the USA”:
In other words, his children, his wife, and the flag standing for freedom are none of them among the “things he’s fought for all his life”. Dude, really, if your family and your freedom are so unimportant to you, maybe just don’t sing about them at all?
He’s referring to his new children and wife.
Not enough
. Of course LToC is what I meant.
(No wonder I’ve felt lightheaded lately, with all the farting going on in there.)
I’ve never read Mein Kampf, either. Gee, maybe that Hitler was an OK guy after all!
For what?
