This probably describes a lot of Republican voters. Or more likely, “He’s a crazy lunatic, but at least he’s not a Democrat.”
That’s a great question for him to evade.

“I’d tell you how many people I killed, but then I’d have to kill you. Which is how I got in this situation.”
As far as 60 Minutes goes, I quit watching the weekend after Jan 6th, 2021. You know, 60 Minutes used to be hard hitting journalism. If Mike Wallace or Harry Reasoner or Ed Bradley were coming to interview you, it likely wasn’t for a puff piece – you were probably in some deep shit that you’d rather not have publicly aired on national television.
That all disappeared during Trump’s first regime. The first time Trump was interviewed on 60 Minutes I thought “Great! They’re going to hold his feet to the fire. Let’s watch him squirm.” Nope, in that interview and every one since, Leslie Stahl just lobs softball after softball at him, never pushing back and questioning his bullshit.
Then came Jan 6, the storming of the Capitol by an angry mob of Trump supporters. Many lawmakers that day were in literal fear for their lives. Leslie Stahl interviewed a still visibly shaken Nancy Pelosi two days later and it aired the following Sunday. And guess what? That was when Leslie Stahl decided to become a hard-hitting 60 Minutes journalist. I turned the channel in disgust and have not watched since.
They think hiring Joe Rogan will help keep them from circling the drain? Yeah, good luck with that.
“Hey! So long as I suffocate rich it’s okay! If it’s my grandchildren suffocating, who cares?”
That’s… old school.
I bet he didn’t expect an Inquisition about it…
[sets ball on a tee for the next person]
No one expects the seven year old hitman Inquisition.
“But Holmes, where does a person learn how to be such a lethal killer?”
“Elementary school, my dear Watson.”
I expect to see a lot of this kind of shit from Republicans in the midterms. I’m surprised they didn’t give him a crotch bulge.
I think there is some pretty important context removed from that. Here is the actual tweet that Meidas Touch is referencing:
Two things…
It was a birthday celebration pic. Ron has misinformation in his tweet; it was not put out by a staffer, but a former staffer. This seems like a deliberate attempt to make it look like this is propaganda from his campaign, when it is not. Just a goofy birthday picture from a former staffer to the candidate.
The tweet explicitly says that it was “Made with AI” in the tweet.
Republicans are despicable, yes. And the message has led to a lot of mockery, so this former staffer has probably inadvertently damaged Rogers’ campaign with this message.
I’ll note that the Mediaite story above also contains misinformation about who Abby Ronson is (former, not current staffer), but they at least pointed out:
Keen-eyed X/Twitter users may have noticed an important disclaimer on the tweet. Right under the photo was a message that read, “Made with AI.”
Anyway, this is why it’s good to not just take social media at face value, even when it’s someone you like and usually agree with. (I like and usually agree with Meidas Touch myself.)
I do think that this qualifies as a “stupid Republican idea” regardless, because Abby Ronson was a stupid Republican for posting this, unless she was trying to get revenge on Rogers for something.
Tell that to Rhoda Penmark.
Where? Was it a different tweet than the one you linked to?
Bad seeds do come in all varieties.
Thanks for the info. And yes, that was not the smartest thing for her to do if she was not going to make note in the tweet that it was supposed to be a joke.
Oh, and where did you see that she’s a former staffer? I’m not seeing that in the RawStory link.
It’s in the tweet. It says “Made with AI” right under the photo, if you look at it on Twitter/X/whatever.
She identifies as former staffer for both Mike Rogers and Brian Jack right in Twitter itself (in her info beneath her name, right next to the tweet).
Abby Ronson, a political operative at Convergence Media who claims on her X profile to be a former staffer for both Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and Rep. Brian Jack (R-GA), posted the image with the caption “HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Michigan’s next Senator, @MikeRogersForMI!!! LET’S GET TO WORK.”
Of course, it wasn’t bold in the Raw Story article, I did that to make it clearer.
Mike Johnson is not Mike Rogers.
That’s my mistake then. I completely read it wrong in both places.
That’s what they want you to think.
Back in February, George Santos tweeted that he was going to be in attendance at the State of the Union, then placed a large bet on Kaishi AGAINST him showing up there, and skipped the event.
Now he’s being investigated for insider trading.
