With the fall back position of ‘Why didn’t the Democrats do something to stop us from slitting our own throats? It’s not like we knew that slitting our own throats would be a bad thing.’
No. As I posted elsewhere, this Investopedia article does a good job talking about your question.
The Big Beautiful Bill does not eliminate taxes on Social Security benefits, but it does give a temporary tax break to those 65 and older with a modified adjusted gross income of up to $75,000—what some are calling a “senior bonus.”
Sone of the provisions don’t kick in until after 2026 (particularly in regards to Medicaid). It’s almost like they know that voters are going to be pissed off.
The temporary nature of the “senior bonus” somehow doesn’t usually make it into the GQP’s talking points (it expires in 2028). It’s the same as the tax breaks in the previous malAdministration: those for corporations and the rich were permanent, those for the groundlings were subject to (non-automatic) renewal.
I have an urge to put this in the Evil MFers thread, but I do not really want to pollute that one too much with politics. It could go in the Evil Republican thread, but this one is more visible, and, well, Hanlon’s Razor and all that.
I keep noticing this ad on TV for “helpDAV”, and it finally just pissed me off. WTF is going on here? Why should these damaged and broken persons, who put themselves out for our benefit, need donations from us? Why is the government not taking proper care of them? Is it because they failed to make the ultimate sacrifice, so they have to suffer for it?
Granted, these ads have been running for more than a few years. But it is obviously the Republicans who honor the troops by saying “'k thanx bye” when they come back in pieces but not yet dead.
Let him continue to kiss Trump’s ass. He barely squeaked by last time, and the DNC didn’t put any cash into this district. This time, they’re pumping in the cash.
In another thread I posted a picture of the appropriate part to carve into Mt. Rushmore and got a warning so I’ll leave it to your imagination. Let’s just way the congressman would readily recognize it.
Massive Medicaid cuts pushed through by Republicans are a good thing, and will save thousands of lives according to a doc/influencer/right-wing think tank person. By peculiar magic, these cuts will just slice through bureaucracy, and fewer people being eligible for health care will shorten wait times to see a physician.
The logic is just as compelling as that which says firing a whole bunch of NOAA employees will make weather forecasting better.
Less is more, up is down. Be confident in MAGA and MAHA.
