The problem is we think those are bugs, while the RW traitors think they’re features.
Nice one, Vyv!
I’m not seeing that same quote “attributed” to Mike Johnson. I’m assuming he didn’t actually say it.
In that article, the Democratic State Congressman is seeking to investigate whether any policies are violated with respect to school funding of the Republican student group, so Penfield has an actual basis use of the First Amendment defense.
Separately, one guy says he “saw a bunch of responsible college students having a good time, and the publicity over the pictures is nothing more that trying to paint them as racists.” Or words to that effect as the page won’t let me view again without paying.

So what are they responsible for?
-
Don’t want to seem racist? Don’t do racist things.
-
“Having a good time” is not mutually exclusive from being racist for some people. Indeed one often requires the other for some people.
So yes, those students have the First Amendment right to be offensive. Others have the First Amendment right to tell them they are offensive.
Yup! That’s the easy and logical reaction to, “It’s okay to say that because of the First Amendment.”
Nancy Mace goes full Karen on the TSA after showing up late for her flight and trying to enter a security checkpoint intended for flight crew.
She sounds nice. Well within the bounds of decorum that the current administration has established as the norm.
[Before reading your link] She pulled the “don’t you know who I am?!?” card, right?
[after reading] Eh, just a massively self-entitled egotistical meltdown from a crazy person.
Close!
“She also said we would never treat Tim Scott like this,” says one officer tasked with escorting Mace says in the report.
She deserved to be namesaked just for the amusement factor.
This doesn’t really belong here, but I thought it was funny.
JD Vance, dressed up as the meme version of him.
I’ll give him some credit. He takes the joke a whole lot better than Trump.
I mean, everyone takes jokes a lot better than Trump.
Heck, everyone does everything a lot better than Trump.
How long before Usha finds herself on a plane leaving the country and JD is married to Erika?
Oh, that is not a platonic hug. That’s the kind of embrace that if my wife saw that at a party, there would be a lot of silence on the drive home.
Trump is going after Seth Meyers next
He has “the Personality of an insecure child” says the guy who’s trying to get him fired for making fun of him.
In my area, and probably all across the country, I’m seeing facebook posts from stores offering to give SNAP recipients free food. For example, a local bakery posted “Show us your SNAP card and get a free loaf of bread, no questions asked”. The day before yesterday, I got an email from SNAP ‘reminding’ me that merchants that accept SNAP can’t give SNAP recipients special deals like that. I think (assume) this is meant to shield SNAP recipients from merchants charging fees for using a SNAP card. And, as part of that, also means you can’t charge them less than someone who doesn’t have a SNAP card.
My issue isn’t so much about that, my issue is the timing. It was clearly meant to address the current situation.* I would’ve thought that even this current administration would’ve looked the other way WRT that rule, at least right now.
Under more normal circumstances, I wouldn’t have given that email a second thought. SNAP regularly sends out these emails. But the timing…the cruelty really is the point.
I do see a potential loophole, instead of ‘show us your SNAP card’ change it to "show us a SNAP card’. Now, you’re not offering this deal to “SNAP customers” but rather anyone currently in possession of a SNAP card.
Most good comedians have that personality. They’re just able to channel it in a useful direction. Trump? Not so much.
Ha ha ha! Of course not. It’s all about the cruelty.
They’re not snap customers if they’re not buying with their snap benefits, they’re just regular customers with defunct SNAP cards.
