RikWriter I haven’t found a consistent time for The Unit on my TV so I assumed it was getting the Firefly Shuffle. Plus, I have only seen eps from the first season. Since it is not new and has been picked up for a second season I can enjoy my dramatic action and hot Ranger wives for another year
:smack: I am an idiot! I checked out TV.com and the episode I watched at 11:00 PM (great time btw) was from season 2. I have been waiting to see what happened to Hector Williams after the cliff-hanger… dammit.
I seem to recall reading an article a few weeks back that CBS’s strategy may not have been to boost ratings for their evening news by hiring Couric, but rather to cause “Today” viewers to migrate away when Couric left, hopefully boosting CBS’s “Early Show”. Seems like a risky way to raise morning ratings, but I’m no television whiz.
Well, yesterday it was only on at 11:00 PM, a few weeks ago it was on every other day, twice a day sometimes on different channels, but that now makes sense if they are in their second season and those episodes were the catch up episodes.
My vote is for 20 Good Years. The first time (was it March?) I saw the promo, I hated it, and that sentiment has been reinforced every time since then that I’ve seen the promo. I think it just looks terrible from the word go.
Then again, shows I think are great (Arrested Development) get cancelled, and shows I hate (most sitcoms) are still on the air after several years, so clearly I’m no prophet.
Caught Dexter on Showtime last night; it has potential. I feel about it the way I felt about Weeds after 2 episodes- eh, if I happen to stumble across it I’ll watch it, but it’s not appointment TV. Now I On Demand Weeds every week, so Dexter might have some legs.
I called it & I still don’t believe it. Shark would survive, because people want to see a prosecutor break the rules to convict “bad guys,” while Smith would go down, because it’s all about “bad guys.”
I’m still stunned that CBS cut Smith after only 3 eps. But the truth remains, people can’t see the quality if they won’t actually watch the show.
I watched the first ep of Smith and couldn’t tell any of the gang members apart. We were I think supposed to be upset that one of them died but after watching the whole ep I didn’t know who it was I was supposed to be sad for.
Glad Shark made it, but I like Boston Legal better.
I think we’ll lose Six Degrees, the characters just aren’t compelling enough.
Also The Nine. I think they’re taking too long making the characters sympathetic. After 3 wks the only person I care about at all is the young girl, definitely not enough to keep me coming back.
What’s Dexter? I’ve totally missed the hype on this one.
Dexter is a Showtime original series. It’s about a serial killer whose foster father was a cop. The father recognized Dexter as a potential serial killer at a young age and trained him to channel his tendencies only against other killers. Now he’s all grown up and working as a forensic blood spatter analyst for the Miami PD, where his foster sister is a cop. It’s very good.
Two more new shows that will NOT be cancelled this season:
The Hollywood Reporter has reported that both Brothers and Sisters and the show Jerico are both being picked up for an entire season.
Brothers and Sisters seems to have a very “affluent” viewership that advertisers like, plus it is holding onto the ratings of Desperate Housewives (the show prior).
Jerico is also holding up well - although not considered a breakaway hit, it has done well in its time-slot and was also picked up.
Okay, I am shocked that Brothers and Sisters is still around. I just now dug up this thread to ask why this show is still on. I have been attempting to watch it just because there’s nothing else interesting to me on at this time and I didn’t feel like changing the channel. However, I have found this show so mind-numbingly dull and all the characters so frickin’ annoying or boring that I couldn’t even stand to leave it on anymore just for the background noise.
