I wish we could establish rules that just let racists be racists. I am so tired of them trying to be cute with code words and then pretending to be all hurt and offended when we call them on their bs. They are almost never smart enough to pull off being subtle so then they have to pretend that they’ve never heard of things like lynching before, but instead describe a scene from a non-existent movie (complete with a looting reference in post #60).
The thing about racists is that they think the rest of us are as racist as they are, but that we’re secretly pretending not to be due to societal pressure and they might be able to get us to finally drop the act and join them in their hate.

Wow. I was curious as to when the last recorded lynching in the US (real ones, not made up ones like in the OP), and I guess I found it. I’m shocked and saddened to learn that it’s actually been within my lifetime.

The only thing the New Black Panther Party is asking for is for a citizens arrest of Zimmerman. Given the circumstances, its not kidnapping but justice. I’m still wondering, after a month of this, why Zimmerman hasn’t been arrested pending charges being filed. There is no lynch mob of Zimmerman, there never was, and the few people who have said incendiary things are being made to be the majority and not the extreme minority.

So if Zimmerman, for example, took out his gun and made a bank robber get down on his knees and wait for authorities to come, that would be him capturing him?
Its not even necessary to get into hypotheticals though. What was Zimmerman planning on doing to Trayvon? He called 911, then approached him with a concealed weapon. What was he hoping that would accomplish? If it was simply to have the cops take care of it, why did he stalk him? Was Zimmerman going to kidnap Trayvon?
The authorities know where Zimmerman is. The authorities have not issued an arrest warrant for him. He is not committing any crime at the moment.
If you “capture” Zimmerman right now, you will be charged with kidnapping. Wish you’d try.
I understand it’s largely because of how that stupid “stand your ground” law is written; because he killed someone with a gun, he’s near untouchable.
Why exactly do you want him arrested? Can you explain what exactly Zimmerman’s “arrest” will accomplish? You arrest him, he’s out on bail in a couple of hours, and we’re back to what we have right now. Except, of course, the clock started ticking because now he’s entitled to “speedy trial”. And I bet you if he’s arrested now, and it’s decided not to indict him he sues for false arrest and wins - since there is no “probable cause” now that would not have been there earlier.
Right, like the “I’m not murdering anyone right now at this moment” defense would hold up. He committed a possible crime that has not been fully investigated. He should either be out on bail, or in detention
So its OUR fault if he gets out due to a trial? Isn’t that what you want? (that or let him go free without a trial). Sure, let them arrest him, let him post bail, and let a trial commence. He deserves one, Trayvon deserves on, and whatever facts come out during the trial, so much the better. So yes, I see absolutely no downside to the police going to his house and arresting him right now. The man killed a child and his story keeps changing, and every bit of evidence that leaks out point to him lying about it. He murdered this kid after stalking him, after the 9-11 dispatcher told him to stop following him, and after a scuffle that he claimed ended with Trayvon on top of him pummeling him, sustaining a broken nose and a head gash which does not show up on video and a bullet wound that spilled no blood on his clothes
