New wireless head-set, now a delay in sound vs pics on vids

I bought a new headset today, a Microsoft Modern Wireless unit. And whilst it will be fine for my work (phoning folks through VoIP) it seems to be a dud for watching movies and videos as there is a very slight (but annoying) delay in the sound coming through.

Is this normal for wireless units? I’ve never used one before, so don’t know if it’s standard or a faulty set.

Cheers.

I don’t have this issue when watching movies using my bluetooth headphones, BUT I do have an issue when using the headphones and playing a software based musical instrument. I’m thinking the reason is that my movie player (iPad) is smart enough to know I have a bluetooth headset and creates an appropriate video delay in the movie I’m watching. The musical instrument, being necessarily played in real time, can’t do this. Is there a setting on your computer to fix sound/video sync issues?

You could try some of these things.

Thanks Richard, funnily enough, after a couple of hours the problem seems to have been rectified!

Huh. Just one of those things I suppose. I’m glad you have it working.

I’ve noticed that digital audio sometimes lags video.
