Ha! And today Eilyssana got the Swift Brewfest Ram to go with her Great Brewfest Kodo
There is a great resource for what gear drops where for a Hunter at warcrafthuntersunion.com. Gives you a list of the best hunter gear outside of raiding. I found it invaluable when gearing up my freshly dinged 80 hunter. Good luck getting the loot.
Well on my 24th Corin fight of the year (across my two toons) a mount finally dropped - the Kodo, for my pally. Not the mount or the toon I would have preferred, but at least I don’t feel like Brewfest is a total loss…
He did this in one weekend? Where were you when you started? I spent a few hours working on it this weekend on my priest and I’m about 60% through Honored, so I have a ways to go.
It doesn’t help that even at 80 I haven’t been able to solo Terrok yet. I need more practice - he hits like a truck. My robes, they do nothing!
Why you ungrateful stuck up blood elf…
Hit me up for this…we would make a great team.
I think I’ll do this. Just to get the summoning mats is a huge grind, but next time I do get them (possibly tonight if I have time before the raid) I’ll call on you or someone else to help me take Terokk down.
I finally got one of the mounts. This is, of course, after getting the remote something like three times. It’s the Swift Brewfest Ram, and I already have a ton of rams, but I like him. He’s got the cutest little glowing green eyes. . .and he’s my first holiday mount!
Aside from that, I finally gave in and got the fourth piece of my T10 set. I was a little nervous about that, since getting the 4-piece bonus actually reduces my GS slightly (replacing 264 with 251 gloves and possibly having to rework my trinkets, because the set’ll put me way over hit cap), but all the models say it’ll do better.
That’s why I was happy when my main got the kodo - she already had rams. Though getting the Brewfest ram a few days later was a nice bonus. But geez, couldn’t they have given it a unique icon? It’s really hard to find amongst all the other rams she has.
One more Direbrew run will push my mage to 60 Frosts, so she’s gonna pick up the T10 gloves. Then she’ll have the 2-piece set bonuses from both T9 and T10, though whether that will be better than the 4-piece T9 bonus remains to be seen.
My nelf hunter’s Aspect of the Pack ability coincidentally uses the same icon as the Swift Frostsaber. Thankfully, I have yet to hit the wrong icon on my Action Bar when it would really count.
Did my first Heroic last night, wasn’t much different than a normal run - I wasn’t at the top of the damage heap, but I don’t think my dps was so low they had to carry me or anything.
Grats on the title, Jas!
Yeah, I was thinking of 4.0.1 when I wrote that since the new talent trees and glyphs are coming in, so I’m going to have to relearn pally all over again. Sigh. However I did manage to armtwist my GL into doing Wrathgate with the pally, battle of undercity and all, so now they both have the Veteran of the Wrathgate achieve. I’d forgotten just how fucking *epic *the movie is, and I immediately went and put a shortcut to the movie on my desktop. goosebumps GL now hates the Forsaken even more, though. >.>
All y’all *koff **Shin *koff who have been having kodos rain from the sky – you suck.
That said, we hit up LK again and we can now get to the second defile more or less, so that’s not too bad. I’m prayin’ to de loa like a prayin’ troll that the patch doesn’t drop until next week because I’d seriously love to have one more go at Arthas before the world changes.
Little Chauli in the BDL now has her blueberry thanks to a RL lock friend of mine who got a very funny expression on his face when I happened to mention that I still couldn’t manage the blueberry quest. The word “Hunters!” may have been involved… He gave me a good schoolin’ on lock tactics, end result being me going Immo, run away, CoA, Corruption, then Shadowbolt/wand. In any event, I now have my blueberry.
My priest has about 70 frost badges with no gear to spend them on except Primoridal Saronite. Can you buy the ICC-level crafting recipes outside of ICC or do I need to be in a raid to buy them? I’m thinking about making me some bracers.
Only in ICC, and in a raid group, which is pretty easy to do – have someone invite you to a party then convert to a raid so you can get inside.
Forgot to mention that Keliraeda, my belf pally, picked up The Fishing Diplomat the other night. That achievement is stupidly easy for Horde. Keli popped an Elixir of Water Walking and then just rode up the coast from Grom’Gol in STV. She didn’t even have to enter SW Harbor - just getting close the cliffs below the Park district of SW flagged her as being “in” SW. Alliance toons trying for that achievement have to actually enter Orgrimmar proper.
Yeah, fake-raids are a good way to get into raid instances to do a little shopping, in the instances that have a shopping mall in the ground floor.
Sounds weird to say it out loud, but there you go.
The other place that I know of where you need a raid to shop is the Black Temple, where the Ashtongue Deathsword reputation vendor (Okuno) lives. And for that one, I guess you have to down a boss, so it’s not really a fake-raid situation.
That’s still not that hard (for an 80). You can go in the back way and outrun the guards on the gate, then fish in that little shallow pond in the Valley of Spirits or whatever that is with the priest/mage trainers.
Horde getting into Ironforge to fish up “Old Ironjaw” or whatever the name is have it tough! No matter which way you come in, you’ve got NPCs and guards out the wazoo, and you have to go halfway around the outer circle (again, no matter which way you come in).
Woo! Future Shop and Best Buy are reporting Cataclysm drops Dec 7 and are taking preorders!
Whoever gives me the best junk for preordering gets my order!
Got my preorder via Amazon, since I’m a Prime subscriber and release-date delivery is free
Coren can give my main a ram any day of the week. I’m at 97/100 on the Mountain of Mounts achievement and can only come up with two more “guaranteed if I’m willing to grind it” mounts: one more Argent Tournament mount and the Traveler Tundra Mammoth (16K gold!). That 100th mount will have to be luck-of-the-loot, or hitting some other mount-giving achievement. And the only one that’s even close is the 10-man hardmode Ulduar one. And who the hell runs Ulduar any more, let alone hardmodes? Especially the last 4 hardmodes. My regular group gave up after 20 failed shots at Mimiron’s hardmode. So that’s a lost cause.
As far as my Direbrew run luck: 5 80s. Running it every day available. Zero mounts. 6 Remotes: 3 on my main 3 80s, then 3 dupes for them. Useless. And then 1 Shanker dagger. No rogues, and what’s a low-quality epic like that worth nowadays? Feh.
Maybe my luck will turn before the event is over.
And now it’s time for Out Of Context Theater!
Yup. No more Bane runs for practice, even. It’s shitty as hell.
I ***really ***hope that all of those people–and everyone here who thinks that using the new “flexible raid” lockout system with existing raids–are also posting to the official WoW forums. If you’ve heard about it and thought to yourself, “That’s a terrible idea,” please take five minutes to make a post about it, preferably on an existing thread. It helps if you can detail how it will hurt you and/or other players versus just complaining.
Bad post: Flexible lockouts suck, what are you, stupid?
Good post: Please don’t use flexible raid lockouts with instances that were designed for another system. This will hurt casual players by increasing the complexity of the system and encouraging people to drop raids after bosses. It will also hurt them by discouraging people from running earlier easy bosses on Heroic mode so that they don’t get locked to that single ID for Heroics. Too, they won’t be able to do a few bosses each of 10 and 25-man for gear that they need. This change will also hurt hardcore raiders. They will have to choose between the gear and achievements they need on 10 and 25-man. They won’t be able to train new members on 10-man versions of the hardest fights, such as Lich King. To earn both meta mounts will now take a minimum of four weeks for all but the most elite guilds in the world, who could complete both achievements and Heroic modes at the same time.
Been busy, ain’cha!
As has been discussed in this thread repeatedly, X.0 is not the same as an expansion. 3.0 was released in advance of Wrath with some of the new features; 4.0 will be released in advance of Cataclysm with some of its new features. The biggest changes are things like new talent trees.
Arms outperforms Fury for Warriors in the current paradigm up until about Ulduar 25 gear. Once you get high enough white (i.e., autoattack) damage, you go into an “endless Rage” situation, and Fury is the best again.
If you want to be DPS, use an Arms PvE build for now.
Death Knights *do not *use Spellpower or any other caster stats. Currently, the only Plate class and spec in the game who uses caster stats is Holy Paladins.
Uh, pretty off. For Warriors…
DPS-exclusive stats: Critical Strike, Armor Penetration, Haste, etc.
Tank-exclusive stats: Defense, Dodge, Parry, Block (Rating/Value), etc.
Shared stats: Stamina, Strength, Expertise, Hit, etc.
Which isn’t to say that you can’t use DPS pieces for tanking or vice versa–but you’ll get sub-optimal results, usually. Also, the shared stats are not *equally useful *for both roles–you’ll just *see *them on both types of pieces.
Don’t think about “how much” Stamina an item has on it as an indication of what its purpose is. There are some DPS pieces with absurdly high Stam on them, and some armor earlier in the game was designed with more of a hybrid role in mind. To figure out the purpose of a piece of equipment, *always *look at its secondary stats. If those stats are intended to help you *do *damage, it’s for DPS. If they’re intended to help you *avoid *damage, it’s for tanking.
Here’s a basic guide to spec, rotation/priority, and gear for Warriors at level 80. It’s still reasonably accurate, though obviously it will be out of date as soon as 4.0 drops.
Sort of. That’s an older paradigm, though. As of Wrath, Arms is a very solid PvE tree up to a point.
Don’t do that. The three trees are now strongly tied into the three specs. Battle is for Arms, Berserker is for Fury, and Defensive is for Prot. If you’re specced into a tree, you should spend the majority of your time in that stance. The only time you should swap is if you really need an ability that can only be used in another tree–and that’s pretty rare these days, especially with changes to talents like Berserker Rage.
Yeah, I saw that! Very exciting. Now all they need is an invisible mode and I’ll be on it like white on rice.
Always good to hear when the RNG treats *somebody *right!
Congrats! I’m really glad you were able to finish it before the lockout changes.
Unless you can break yourself of this mode of thinking, you need to delete that addon right now. It’s hurting your performance. Higher gear score does not equal better gear–only better ilvl. Period. Otherwise, you might as well just start rolling on everything that drops that’s a higher level that what you’re currently wearing.
Unless they’ve made changes since last year, it’s the same for regular members, too. I selected the free shipping and it showed up right on release day.
Do you have a mount tracking addon like CollectMe? It could clue you in to some that you’re missing and forgot about. (E.g., some home race factions added an extra mount or two a while back, there are all the original Argent Tourney racial mount models, there are several TBC factions that have multiple mounts for purchase at Exalted, etc.)
It’s BoP, anyway–only the Tankard is BoE.
