New WoW General Discussion Thread 6/8/10

Confirmed by a blue post. Wow.Com has a story I linked in the cata thread.

Oh, it doesn’t bother me. I’ve just only gotten into a large raiding guild, though, and I’ve been pugging a lot, and they’re kind of hard-asses about GS requirements. There’s a 10-man LK run advertising–not on Heroic, mind–that’s asking for 6K GS. I mean, Christ, you hit 6K, you probably don’t even need anything off of the 10-man. And, since I’m a DPS, there’s a lot more competition. But, really, I’d rather perform well than have a super-red number next to my name, so the upgrade’s a go.

At this point in the game, ICC raids are less about loot and more about getting the achievements, so it’s not inconceivable.

I’m starting to think I do want to keep playing WoW, but I may drop out of the raiding guild I was in (not like I’ve been active the last two months anyway) and stick to the BDL. I want to experience Cataclysm and casual raiding, which it seems like the BDL is able to do pretty consistently now. Plus I want to be able to go back to Northrend at level 85 with raid gear and stomp all over the dungeons for fun.

I was poking through the Dungeons and Raid forum on the official forums, and someone (not a blue) brought up the point that raid IDs will most likely be wiped out when we switch over to the new raid system in 4.0.1 since that happened last time according to the poster.

If that’s true, then well… it was nice dancing with you, Arthas. :frowning:

Redoing fights like PP and Sindragosa while also relearning the classes will be painful and most likely demoralizing for the less obsessed among us.

Aww, that sucks. One possibility is that the new spells and talents will be so OP that you can roflstomp those heroic modes (and maybe, but likely not, Arthas himself) before they catch on and remove the ICC 30% buff (which they have already said they might have to do)…

Not that cheesing it is that much fun either, but it didn’t stop folks from clearing SWP after 3.0 dropped (or so I’ve heard). If it seems possible I can promise that my 10-man will be going for Bane, even if true raiders will know we didn’t really earn it.

If it’s the 7th, that will give me a little more time to reach 80. That’s my goal. To finish Wolkie in time for me to get the new expansion. If it only adds 5 more levels, will the game be cheaper?

Thanks

Probably not, because it does a whole lot more than raise the level cap by 5. They’re changing a lot of things…two new races, four or five new zones, they’re revamping a lot of the old world zones and streamlining quest lines, and…this is the big one…you’ll be able to FLY in the old world!

Plus a couple of new tradeskills, too.

The game is apparently going to go for $39.99, with the “collector’s edition” going for twice that.

Yeah, I’d really like to level a shaman, but I don’t see a point in doing it until Cataclysm comes out. I’m sick to death of the old world.

That’s what’s more or less keeping me from actually working on an alt. Mostly, now, I’m just doing holiday stuff, doing my cooking daily and my fishing daily (if it’s Disarmed or Jewel of the Sewers), and doing my ravasaur dailies. I don’t raid and I don’t PvP, so those are non-starters. I’m considering going back to Tournament dailies, as well, but we’ll see.

I’m actually getting more done in LOTRO since it went free than in WoW, waiting for Cataclysm.

I spent most of today playing my draenei mage:

• Picked up her T10 gloves
• Ran all over the Eastern Kingdoms getting exploration achievements - she’s just STV away from “Explore Eastern Kingdoms”
• After reading the recent article on WoW Insider (which I now can’t find, so no link), she chugged an Elixir of Water Walking, and ran from the northern coast of Tirisfal Glades all the way to “old” Quel’thalas. After poking around the night elf architecture a bit, she continued north along the coast. It was amusing the way she was standing on the water of the North Sea, but the world map showed her standing in the middle of the Ghostlands :stuck_out_tongue:

Basically, the map was updated for TBC when Ghostlands and Eversong Woods were added, but the actual terrain from vanilla was left in place for people to find if they tried to get into Quel’thalas without going through the portal/owning TBC, and you can see it if you swim/water-walk up the coast from Tirisfal.
• Queued up for a random heroic, got her “favorite”, Forge of Souls, and came out of it with Seethe.

Oh, and Svelexi was complimented on her skillful sheeping while doing FoS. There’s that one early trash pull where, no matter what the tank does, there’s that one caster mob who just will not join the party. So I sheeped it. Well, penguined, actually, but you get the idea

… out of several, where does that item go? I had 18 frostweave cloths that I accidentally mis-priced, so I wanted to cancel just that, but when I did it disappeared completely - not to my bags.

Did the same with Borean leather, but after the cloths disappeared I left the pricing as it was, expecting the stack of 19 wouldn’t be bought and returned to me in my mail.

Thanks

$40 bucks. Guess I’ll have to spend it if I continue playing. Plus, it keeps me out of trouble and is very helpful with my dementia, although I still get lost sometimes. Last night it was the portals in Dal and we rode around till I stumbled on the building containing them.

Thanks

It should be in your mailbox. Open the mail from the auction house, and click to take your item.

Thanks everyone for the welcome. It’s been interesting for me to read the progress and questions of everyone else.

I’ve hit 71 already with my Priest, and I’m kind of torn between getting to 75 so I can finish the Gnomeragon quest line before it goes away, and trying to get through all the Outland dungeons while I’m able to.

Did take a couple weeks before I bought myself Wrath to get some rep grinds and Loremaster for EK and Kalimdor because I’m a sucker for achievements.

I do have a question though: I assume that PUG raids for 60-70 level content are rare, but do they even still happen? and would i have to lurk all weekend in the Trade channel to find one on my server?

They happen, but in my experience it’s very rarely with a full raid at the appropriate level. Much more likely is a raid with a few 80s looking for the achievement (or a mount, or chance at a legendary). They will often bring along lower level toons.

Not really fair blaming all the Foresaken for the actions of one traitorous group within it is it? Ah who cares, death to the living anyway

My Paladin has now had everything drop from Coren but my Warlock has got nothing but Frosts though both finally have their trinkets. I have been trying to power level my DK to tank Wrath dungeons as Frost but I don’t think I’ll make it before 4.01 hits, currently 66.

Good!
Yesterday I was in the mood to give my alts a whirl, went into a heroic with my mage. At one point we managed to pull two groups of mobs at the same time, including one dude who stayed back tossing poisoned spears. I turned him into a turtle, we finished off the rest with only one death (not meee, nyah, nyah!) and then people stood around saying “why aren’t we getting out of combat?” “Because we need to kill the turtle” “What turtle” *points *“What’s that?” “It’s a turtle, like a sheep but I make turtles instead of sheep” “Oh. You should have sheeped it, it’s better.” briefly considers turning the brainfrozen DK and hit-too-many-times bear into either pigs or sheep but decides against it

Having my cow sheeped always makes me want to start looking for a barn. It’s so agricultural, or something.

Didn’t even think to look there!:o Thanks, Oakminster!
