New WoW General Discussion Thread 6/8/10

All Triumph and Frost badges are converted into Justice Points, so all those useless EoTs you’ve been buying epic gems with can actually go towards T10 gear once the patch hits.

Incidentally, I believe the Frost and Triumph conversions are the same, so EoFs you’ve been hoarding will actually be devalued significantly when they become converted into JPs – at least, that’s how it is on the PTR currently. So unless they change the conversion process, best bang for your buck will be to spend all your EoFs before the patch while saving all your EoTs (though I’ll probably end up saving all my EoFs anyway, simply because I’d rather have those devalued points going towards T10 gear than having a handful of primordial saronite that I’m not going to use any time soon).

That’s good news for me; I just spend almost all my EoFs to buy primordial saronite to get the ICC crafting patterns I was missing. I’ve spent most of my EoTs on gems already, but I needed the gems anyway.

:smack:Warrior: I’m doing it wrong.

Well, at least I can use the one hander when I do Protection. I’ll have to venture back to the bank to get the two-handers that I stuck in there.

Muz and his 350 plus Triumphs are sitting pretty… if I manage to get a new computer some time soon.

With 350 you will be soft-capped when the conversion happens, and unable to earn new JP until you spend some. If you have T10 or what-not to buy this won’t be a problem, but at some point anything over 4000 will convert to gold. Just something to keep in mind.

Well, Muz has precisely zero T10 DPS gear at the moment, so he should be up for a major spending spree once I manage to get back online.

Okay, looking at Jas09’s conversion table it seems it’s not EoFs getting devalued, but rather EoTs becoming supervalued. I think I was going by the old PTR conversion before this latest build. That makes me feel less sad about hanging onto my frosts

The downloader will affect your connection speed. You can run it when you’re not doing anything else, but when you’re doing anything that requires a faster connection–playing WoW, watching videos, downloading files–you should turn it off.

It’s over as of this morning, anyway, so it’s a moot point. The holiday stuff is always optional.

No, sorry, you’d have to turn off the sound for that. Not sure if they have it classified under Sound Effects or Ambient. You could experiment.

Lil’ bit. 'S okay, at least you said something here so we could fix it. And good thing you didn’t sell your two-handers!

Woo! Tamed The Beast in Blackrock Spire. Took me three tries to finally get it right, he kept going after my shaman friend instead of me which kind of screwed up the tame. Definatly proud of it though, even if it is a little ugly.

King Krush will have to be put on hold until Cata, I think, I’m full on stable slots and don’t really want to lose anything else.

So if I’m understanding this right, I should go ahead and spend any frost emblems I’ve been hoarding and leave the triumph to be converted to justice points? If so I’ll go ahead and grab all the crafting recipes I’ve missed and just hoard triumph.

That was true as of one PTR build ago – if the current conversion holds, it doesn’t look like you’ll need to spend your frosts now to maximize the conversion process. But hoarding EoTs, definitely.

Congrats! I can’t wait 'til my Hunter is high enough to get the talent to tame Exotics. Getting close now…

Triumphs will definitely be worth more after the conversion than before, as of the latest PTR build. So anything you want to spend them on that you don’t need immediately, you should wait to buy.

Frosts I’d suggest spending as you need them. The gear doesn’t do you any good if you don’t have it; and Saronites will plummet in price after the conversion.

Boo-frickin’-hoo. Just stand over there with the folks whining about the 10 toon limit per server. If you have the open slot there is nothing stopping you from rolling a new toon - it just can’t join the mega guild. At least not until some pruning occurs.

Why wasn’t the megaguild clearing the idle on a regular basis in the past? Unless, of course, the appeal is RAR! WE’RE HUGE!

This affects one tenth of one percent of all guilds. It’s unfortunate for those guilds and people which, of course, still number in the thousands due to the huge size of the WoW subscribers, but the fact is this only affects a very small subset of the player base. There have been annoying changes in the past that had equal or greater effect on far more people.

Or maybe Blizzard only has so many resources and are allocating them in the way that they deem most cost-effective. Blizzard doesn’t have a bottomless bank account and re-writing and de-bugging code takes time and money. Maybe they decided that working on the rest of Cataclysm takes precedence over this issue, which affects only 0.01% of guilds. I suppose they could have hired more people to work on the issue, but that also costs money and I’m sure they’re trying to hold the line on subscription prices.

Well, maybe they shouldn’t have jumped the gun. Blizzard has back down on new features before (we’re still waiting for the dance studio, right? OK, not so important an issue as guild size)

Fact is, most megaguilds will figure out a way to deal with it. I expect quite a few will break up into smaller guilds, hopefully without too much emo, drama, and screaming. Others will wait for attrition to do the job.

Yeah, well, if someone screwed up and put resources into RealID (or whatever) instead of the guild UI that’s still something the company has to deal with. Do you release the expansion in December so you can capture the holiday purchasing crowd, or do you delay until into 2011 and risk pissing off your customers by the delay?

Good to hear…I’m sitting on 800+ EoTs. Looks like I can buy a whole set of T10 tanking gear and still have plenty left to fill out the other slots with other EoF vendor items. Now if I could just take the time to learn how to tank…

Was at home earlier today for about an hour…enough time to do some dailies and the daily frost run…Occulus…no problems at all with our group until…

I released my amber drake (which took damage fighting those little annoying whelps just before we fight Malygos) and before I could summon a new (full health) amber drake, the tank initializes the fight with Malygos, leaving me without a drake to ride. Took damage during the fight, but my flash of light keeps up with the damage so I didn’t die…rest of the group still has no problem killing off Malygos…I apologized for not letting the tank know that I need a couple of seconds, but since they tore Malygos a new one, they were cool about it. And in the “No bad deed goes unrewarded”[sup]TM[/sup] Dept…I got the Reins of the Blue Drake. Ahhhh, the life of a slacker…

…we’re there.

Last night, I said we couldn’t make it yet in IC, but that all changed a little while ago when I stopped questing and we flew back to Dal (I picked up a couple more FP’s too). When we got to Krasus Landing, I noticed a yellow exclamation point over this guy’s head (Skybreaker marine) and when i clicked on it, he said some stuff about how bad it is in IC right now, and that Wolkie looked pretty strong, and told me when I’d made my mind up and wanted passage to click on him again.

So I did and this helicopter-looking thing took us to the Skybreaker, a huge ship, and by the way, I picked up a whole percentage point on the flight, and I reported to a black guy (“High Captain Justin Bartlett”) and one thing led to another and pretty soon we were on Silka flying to some snowy Valiance place where I picked up a whole bunch of quests.

Anyway, about last night? I think what I did wrong is flying Silka there from Argent Stand. I really didn’t have a safe haven to fly to and all we did was fight higher levels and run away from some 80’s.

So now we’re fixin to buy some stuff at the AH (potions and food, etc) and head back to IC. (I looked to make sure the guy who sent me there was still standing there on the flight deck of Krasus landing and he was, so I’ll just fly there again from Dal, unless y’all know a better route?

Thanks

Q

Forgot to add a Whoo-Hoo! I was still picking up quests in Zul Drak, but I was worried that i was gonna run low…

Spoke too soon. One of the questgivers sent me to the Shadow Vault to destroy the ocular. It was crawling with 80’s monsters and I died so much I finally took the Spirit Heal and lost 75% of my weapons/attributes.

Oh well. I did get 4 quests out of the trip to IC and I’m 47% of the way to 78.

Is there a way to find out which quests one has completed?

Thanks

After months of work:

Light of Dawn!

Woo! Sorry, I just had to gush.

If I remember correctly, the questgiver should have given you some sort of device or weapon to use. You just fly up to the big bluish sphere on top of the building and use the device on it. You shouldn’t have to deal with the monsters around the building at all yet.

That’s actually a flying-based quest - you have to hover at the top of the vault’s spire and shoot this glowing eye (think Sauron) with some thing that they give you. It’s kind of tough in that it’s best if you stay at maximum range and hammer that power every time it recycles, else you’ll really get beat up.

Just checked “It’s All Fun And Games” on the web. Quasi, just fly up to the bluish sphere…stay just within range of the Eyesore Blaster Thassarian gives you and use it to hit the Ocular until it’s down to about 12K life left. Then go in closer and use the blaster until the Ocular is dead. If you’re not close enough when it dies, you won’t get credit, but you don’t have to be close enough for it to attack you to do damage to it (the range of the blaster is longer than the range of the Ocular) up to that point.
