In the quest “Something About The Squire” (looked it up already on thot) is says I’m supposed to come in behind him and smack him over the head with a femur dropped by a woodcutter. The problem is, the squire is standing right up against a wall, and before I get to him, I get mobbed and killed. Has anyone done this one?
Wolkie’s moved up to jousting practice against one of the Valiants. Any tips for us? I tried shield-breaks and then charge, but those don’t seem to work. BTW, for the ranged target practice, you just keep throwing the shield breakers. You don’t charge.
I decided to wait for Curse to perfect its add-ons rather than going beta with anything else. It’s a bit of a hassle browsing to see what borean leather’s going price is for a stack of 20, and I miss QH, but I’ll put up with it for a while.
I like knocking out my 3 dailies on the tournament site, but have seen a repeat of the “blade of champions” (kissing the frogs) quest. Gues that’s normal?
I keep getting kicked out of WoW and have to log in again for no reason…
What do you get mobbed by? If it’s just random wandering stuff, kill it before you go after him. He won’t notice you when you sneak up on him.
There are only a few dailies–you’ll start seeing repeats pretty soon. So yep, that’s normal
Are you disconnecting? Getting a critical error/crash? If you’re DCing, it might be your ISP, but WoW’s been a little flaky the last few days. I’d suggest turning off your addons and see if that helps. You might have one that’s not playing well with others. Then slowly introduce them back in to see if you can identify the culprit.
I finally brought out my Huntard and didn’t feel that he was underpowered like people are screaming about. I do miss my ammo though, it was a fun mini-game to make sure he had the most powerful ammo I could buy or get. Talking about mini-games, what happened to weapon skills? I always liked leveling up the weapon skill when I got a better one.
Weapon skills are gone with this patch. The old weapon-skill-related achievements (like Knuckle Sandwich) are now feats of strength.
I’m still annoyed with myself that I forgot to finish leveling my DK’s weapon skills to 400 (the ones he doesn’t use often) and also his Unarmed so he could get those two achievements. They would have been easy for him, but now they’re gone forever.
I tried out a Druid and OMG! Is Thorns overpowered now or what? I consistently get 40+ points per Thorns hit and the tooltip says I should be getting half that.
Weapons skills are dead and gone. All classes start out now with the full slate of usable weapons for that class…no learning new weapons anymore. All of the weapon skill achievements are gone, too. If you previously earned Master of Arms or Who Wants A Knuckle Sandwich?, they show up in your Feats of Strength pane in the Achievements window now.
Meh. Thorns used to be a long-term buff that constantly provided low-level damage which was more useful for aiding a tank’s threat than anything. Now it got bumped up to a true short-term expensive offense spell that’s only up for half the time and will drain your mana if you keep it running that often.
ETA: Now, for overpowered…I picked up two Venerable Masses of McGowan for my gobby shaman, but it’s disappointing having to store them for a couple months until Cataclysm comes out. So I started up a rogue and handed him the two maces.
That’s a good point. I hadn’t considered the shortened duration and I’m not the kind of player that really remembers what things cost in mana…I just spam buttons until the voice says “Need more mana”.
Yep - sometimes you get the same thing in a row for multiple days.
So does everyone else, or just about. I actually managed to talk to a GM this morning, he said they’re dealing with the issues and hotfixing them as fast as they can.
Stuff like this does happen with a major patch, and this is more major than most. Usually settles down after a week.
They have dropped a ton since patch day. Which is fine - I made my 25k and now I’m back out of the market.
Hunters aren’t currently underpowered. Hunter’s using their new abilities and resource incorrectly are underpowered. Also, however, we weren’t buffed like Boomking/Mage/Locks/Ele were, so it feels underpowered by comparison.
If you open your map and click on the name of the quest you want to do, the yellow arrow in your minimap will switch to that quest.
Actually, QH also tended to point to the nearest quest.
I had to open a GM ticket last night on my draenei mage. I’ve been working on finishing up World Explorer on her, and Mulgore was the last zone I needed to explore. But for some reason, I simply could not get credit for “discovering” Thunder Bluff. I started out by running around the bottoms of the bluffs, which has always been enough on every other toon, and though it said I was in TB and I got PvP flagged, I got no credit. So I went up the back elevator and ran in amongst the buildings (Elder Rise, I think?), then got chased off by the guards and Feather Falled my way over the edge. Still no credit. So I ran her around to the main, front elevator, rode it up, cast Invisibility, schlepped past the guards, made it to the flight tower, up the tower to the Upper Rise, got close enough to punch Cairne in the nose (though I didn’t), and finally got killed by an Honor Guard as I was attempting to get to the edge and Feather Fall my way to safety. And still no credit. So my mage is sitting there just needing TB for her achievement and title. Hopefully a GM will have it fixed when I log her in today. I checked my combat log and it showed I was attacked and killed by Bluffwatchers and Honor Guards, so hopefully that’s sufficient proof that I was there.
I’ve also run across an extremely annoying bug, which may be a “known issue”: conjuring a mage table in an instance disconnects me. First time it happened I assumed it was just a random glitch, and unfortunately I got kicked as soon as I DC’d, and when I logged back in I was at the Nesingwary Base Camp in Sholazar, where my mage’s hearth is set (why it’s set there, I don’t remember) and I had the deserter debuff. But then it happened again last night when I cast the spell in Utgarde Keep. Fortunately, this group seemed to be aware of what was happening and didn’t boot me. I actually DC’d twice - once when I first cast the spell, and again when I got back in and the mage table was still sitting there. I logged in yet again, and by that time the table had disappeared. All I had to do was catch up to the rest of the group. I thanked them for not booting me.
Got the squire. There was just enough room at his back to wop him upside the head. Whole head came off. Got a murderers tool kit out of the deal. Now off to steal some stuff from the black knight’s house.
Dailies in Zul’ Drak: Arnold Finkelried’s ingredients. That’s a Quasi no can do. He wants you to get these herbs and stuff and only gives you a short time to find them and put them in his pot. Thotbot says to make a list and where they are. It’s a pain in the ass quest.
I’ve had my mage table disconnect another player in a random heroic (fortunately his partner was in the group and said what the problem was, and had my healthstone well disconnect me on my warlock. Not fun.
Whew! I gotta quit for a while! Only at 40% to 80, and am basically grinding the spiders on k3 and the furry ones at Nesingway’s base for the leather. At least the spiders are level 78, and I guess I’ll go back to Crystalsong to do some more grinding there…
Killed my first 3 level 80’s going after the black knight’s invitation and orders, though. That pretty much wraps up the quests I can do at the arena not counting the jousting guy I have to defeat and the dailies there, of course.
I have a few greens at Zul’ Drak, which have been difficult for me, but which I will try again when I’m “fresh”.
Oh! Meant to tell y’all: I have this collar that turns me into a Scourge, and this has come in handy when I have to go into Scourge-infested areas and on the way to a quest. I was able to rescue one of the crusaders while in disguise…
I’m still struggling with learning the new focus system. Something that helped me was swapping to BM from MM and dusting off my corehound (up to now he’d just been for BM PVP). I’m finding that I can easily solo some of the Icecrown 5man quests with a 78 cat, which isn’t bad. I was rather pleased to discover that I could take on 3 level 83 mobs decently. However, in raids, I’m no longer in the top 5 – the locks and the fury war are all perched up there giggling at us.
For those of you who use Power Auras, one thing I’m still wondering about is whether it’s possible to set it up to go off when my pet gets 5 stacks of Frenzy, which is when the button lights up on my action bar I assume?
Also – I didn’t see if anyone else posted this but Anzu no longer needs summoned, he’s just standing there in H Sethekk Halls. It’s workable to solo him, so I’ve added dropping by to visit him a few times a week to my Cat bucket list.
Addons: My go-to unit frames all borked and haven’t been updated to a working state yet. You know what’s painful? Keyboard turning on Halion. Fuuu. Apparently Simplified Unit Frames was screwing up and not letting the game register my mouse. So I’m using default Blizz unitframes + Power Auras set up to show my focus + Grid to show party/raid. (The new raid frames from Blizzard offend my delicate eyes. )
