New WoW General Discussion Thread 6/8/10

I agree with you up to a point. There’s making the world dynamic and interesting, and then there’s disrupting gameplay to the point of frustration. There’s ways to give players the option of experiencing a rich and dynamic world without forcing them to grit their teeth and bear inconvenience so you can show off your nifty designs.

I was very excited that my DK just hit 70, only to discover that the artisan riding ability costs 4750 gold. Yikes!
Guess I’ll be sticking to the horse for awhile. :frowning:

Your ghetto flyer still travels faster than your epic horse, unless you’re running it along the ground.

Alas, I can’t seem to fly in Northrend with my little lion. Am I missing something?

Ahh, unless you have a level 80 on that server, you have to wait until level 77 to train Cold Weather Flying. Without that, even Artisan Flying is useless in Northrend.

Aye. City of Heroes had this same issue with their alien (and zombie) invasions. The code is currently set up so the aliens (or zombies) spawn near players except those near the auction houses. Specifically, they do spawn, but they immediately die. It allows traders to get on with their business while people who want to bust zombie (or alien) heads can move to an open spot and have their fun.

That explains it. This is my first toon this high.

What’s the point of a major, devastating world event*!!!*… that you can opt out of at any time? I mean, you might as well say, “I really like coffee… but does it have to be so bitter? And what’s with all the caffeine? Hand me another one of those McDonald’s “cappuccinos,” would you?”

Yeah, exactly. It’s the semantics of the change, not the change itself.

Skammer, I’ll be curious to see if my heal style changes in ICC after I’ve regemmed for more haste. But doesn’t that style lend itself to overheal to some degree? Especially if you have a resto shaman or druid (can’t really call them trees now can we? :frowning: ) with gobs of haste in raid.

Speaking of which, Life Grip. I am tempted to have a macro saying "Get back here and let me heal you! >:| " when we get that.

Woot! My mage got into H:PoS, and the Engraved Gargoyle Femur finally dropped!

I rolled Need, then waited and waited to see if I won it … the tank, the healer, and one of the DPS left the group and it was just me and the boomkin standing there, and still no message about who won it.

So I said, “?? Who won the femur?”

Boomkin: “LOL - I forgot to roll. Mind if I Need?”
Me: “I already Needed.”
(Boomkin rolls Need also)

Boomkin: 50
Me: 53

Woot!

… is really not much for questing is it? I flew over there, but didn’t see anything that would give me the XP I needed as quickly as in Northrend.

Also, I’m a frog-kissin’ MoFo today. dude! It took me FOREVER to find the right frog for blade for a champion.

SFG, thanks for the vote of confidence and for the directions on jousting. I wrote them out and have them posted on my screen!

Thanks

PS: Oh yeah, that hollerin’ poet guy is back! Whoo-hoo!

Yeah, Quel’danas is really much more of a raid/instance place than a solo questing place. And it’s more for around 70s (it was the last raid of Burning Crusade) than for around 80s.

PvP/BG question:

How exactly do you hit your opponent with anything but Autoattack while running around in circles?

(For melee classes, obviously)

angrily shakes fist I got hit by the tooltip freezing bug first time into the Headless Horseman thinger, got back in while the party was still fighting him, but now game froze when I left the party.

Some folks steer with the mouse and mash buttons with the other hand. It’s a little unorthodox, but I’ll keep the forward (W) and/or strafe key (QE) mashed with a finger or two while hammering attacks (number row) with other fingers on the same hand and steering with my mouse.

I note a lot of melee classes will dance on the edge of melee range, especially those fucking rogues. Specifically, they’ll mix up back/forward motions with attacks while also strafing to make it tougher for the other guy to stay in range.

Hey, so I got the beta for Auctioneer, but it’s doing one thing I’ve never had it done - it puts a list of all my auctionable stuff on the left side of the addon, but I can’t find a way to make it go away, so it covers up important things like how much I can sell my Borean Leather for. Do y’all know what I’m talking about?

Now that hunters get 20 stable slots, it’s time to play Pokemon! Been out collecting interesting-looking pets with my BM-spec hunter.

My husband is having fun with his BM hunter and his once-tameable slime pet from Sholazar. It has crocolisk stats but looks and acts like a slime.

!. The SOB doesn’t stay inside the goddam RING!

  1. Okay, I get the part about keeping my greens going at all times

  2. I try stay as close as I can

  3. I hit the hell out of thrust when we’re close and when he moves away I hit charge, all the time keeping my greens up and do shield breakers when I can, but…

The only thing I’ve been able to accomplish is keep the joust going a little longer each time. He loses very little health.

I use arrows and the mouse.

Thanks

Q

While you’re thrusting, try backing up slowly to keep him in the ring. Make sure your shield stack is at three at all times, too.

Easier said than done, FH

He leaves the ring to actually begin the joust, and once you take that first hit on your green shields, they turn yellow, and there’s a short cool-down before they’re ready to go green again and by that time he’s already charging (and yes, my finger’s going like crazy on the shield trying to get it to stay green). BTW, the shields are buffed to green before I even call him into the ring.

Looks like I’m going to have to skip this one.

Thanks
