New WoW General Discussion Thread 6/8/10

Sadness. Almost every one of my toons has a squashling or a hallowed helm, and my shaman actually has both twice over. But my druid has only stacks of candy corn and lollipops. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

w00t! HH dropped the helm for my paladin!

Double w00t! HH dropped his horse for my mage!

I first signed on in December 2004. You missed some of the early crazy-ass changes. They’ve redesigned talent trees, changed various sorts of mechanics, drastically changed PvP more than once - lots of stuff. Yes, I’ve seen this before - even if you haven’t.

Let me make it easy for you - I’ve been accused of flying one.

Yup, I started during vanilla WoW too. Nothing like logging in - without an expansion in sight - to find, oh hey, this class and that need to go respec because they changed your powers so much that they refunded your talent points.

Okay, I haven’t been playing WoW at all, really, for about 2 months, and with 4.0.0, I seem to have lost some settings.

Has anyone figured out how to stop showing the clock at the bottom of the minimap yet?

Are you using SexyMap? If so, right-click on the mini-map, which should bring up the configuration. Go to Buttons. The clock should be the 3rd one. Click in “Never”.

Huzzah!

Eilyssana the Hallowed! (I’d link, but the Armory is bugging out).

She was sitting at 31/50 for the GNERD Rage achievement, so I queued up for another Arathi Basin (my favorite BG, I think) where I managed to get credit for another 39 HKs (including 5 killing blows). Lost count of how many times I got killed in the process, but that didn’t really matter. Achievements popped somewhere during the battle, and then of course I stuck it out until the end, and we actually ended up winning. For the kills I personally made, I think I just got lucky and managed to find the other people who are just as bad at PvP as I am :stuck_out_tongue:

Also discovered Eilyssana has 915 HKs to her credit. I wouldn’t have thought she had that many.

I think I’m just five achievements away from a Violet Protodrake. The PvP achievement for Winter’s Veil, the Elders of the Dungeons for the Lunar Festival, and three for Children’s Week.

Nope. No map addons atm. Atlas and Flight Map were both buggy as hell, so i chucked 'em.

This used to be a regular WoW option; that’s what I’m looking for.

I’ll take a look at SexyMap tho, as I do need a new map thingy.

So I did the rounds of HH on my two mains. Arhiatlel got the Hallowed Helm and the Sinister Squashling in her bag, which surprised me. So I figured I’d go see if Kut had any luck now the gods had smiled on Arh.

The Horseman’s Reins dropped.

Yelling and bouncing was had. I’ve wanted that ever since I saw it the first year.

(And grats Rik! )

YAY! The HH finally relented and gave me a Hallowed Helm!

You have earned the title ‘Nahren the Hallowed’.
[Nahren] has earned the achievement [Sinister Calling]!
[Nahren] has earned the achievement [Hallowed Be Thy Name]!
[Nahren] has earned the achievement [What A Long, Strange Trip It’s Been]!
You receive item: [Reins of the Violet Proto-Drake].
[Nahren] has earned the achievement [Stable Keeper]!
You have added the pet Violet Proto-Drake to your collection.
You have learned a new ability: [Master Riding].
Your skill in Riding has increased to 375.

All from that one little drop.

First, thanks to everyone for the grats.

Now I’m wondering what I can do if I still want to work with Wollkie? He’s a warrior specced for arms, btw.

Like how do I get into epics/heroics and still stay solo. Instances - again solo?

Pets?

Went to the Exodar (never been) but there doesn’t seem to be anything to do for me there?

Thanks

Q

The good news: my WoW-playing husband and I got new laptops!

The bad news: two people have to use the same wireless connection to transfer/update/whatever their gaming computers. I thought it’d be faster to install from the WotLK disc and then patch from there, compared to transferring from the old computer, but at the moment the 3.3-to-4.0 patch is only at 1.07 Gb out of 4.76, and it’s predicting some ungodly remaining download time. Maybe I’ll snag the easy transfer cable my husband bought, after he’s done… whenever that’ll be.

Got Hallowed Be Thy Name. Currently working on Chef de Cuisine, with the help of Ackis Recipe List.

Edited to add: Didn’t get the last Outland recipe on the cooking daily today. Maybe tomorrow.

Late, but better than never.

WOOTS QUASI!

Hmmm…I’m mightily confused. I started a baby shammy, got to 4th level, and Canaga Earthcaller is not giving me any quests (he should have “Call of Earth” for me at lvl4). Did they remove the necessity of having an actual physical elemental totem in your bags with the patch?

I am not a computer guy, but I think maybe your update would go faster if you let one computer download everything, and then just copy the files to the other computer offline, rather than downloading the whole thing for a second time.

Struth, a simple USB key would do.

Wait, what? WeylandYutani and Weyland-Yutani?

Man, I love achievements so much. That’s why I’m still playing my 80!

So, um, awkward question that is going to make you say ‘and this chick made it to 80 how?’: the stuff in Shadowmoon Valley that is all referencing Cataclysm - is this new, or were there always places and monsters with references to a Cataclysm? I never went to Shadowmoon on my 80 until now, and my alt isn’t far enough along yet.
