Hmmm…I might be able to get a refund still and go that route; otherwise I’m stuck with the T10 legs and the Cataclysm Chest piece. I don’t remember how much time was left on the time because I went Trick or Treating in the Eastern Kingdom afterwards.
It’s recorded in the Armory, under Statistics, of how often you’ve killed the last boss. I’ve exclaimed frequently about how often my druid has gotten “randomed” into Drak’Theron Keep. I just checked and she’s killed the last boss of DTK 155 times. The next closest Northrend Heroic boss? Eregos (Oculus) at 26 kills.
Yeah, I know where to find the stats, I just haven’t looked at them lately. I will if I remember tonight; now I’m curious. DTK is another one I don’t see very much.
Wow…I’ve been trying to finish up Loremaster (already got the Old World ones) in Outland and I’m noticing that either the patch really created a general power-up or trading up to ilvl 200+ makes a huge difference, or both. I’m soloing (well, me and the ghoul) the Sons of Grul! I couldn’t even get Durn down before. I mean, I AM an 80 DK, but before the patch/gear upgrade I seriously couldn’t take on 85K mobs solo, let alone 125+K mobs.
My conclusion, looking at the stats page for my hunter, is that Armory lies like a cheap rug. It’s undercounting (even zeroing out) several 5-man and raid bosses and overcounting several others. The stats page doesn’t even agree with the “recent activity” panel or the “Character Feed” page.
FWIW, I’m pretty sure my leading H 5-man is not random: for weeks, I was specifically queuing for ToC after completing the daily h random (if HToC didn’t come up as the random) because I was desperate to get as many Crusader Seals as fast as possible.
That said, H Pos and H HoR come up in that activity feed disturbingly often. No wonder I still have the nightmares from the terribad randopugs I’ve gotten into there.
The LDW ring is good. There’s also a BOE 264 ring that you can pick up that will in the long run be cheaper than constantly swapping the specialization on your rep ring. Harbinger’s Bone Band, I believe it’s called.
Because of the massive nerf to bonus armor as a stat, these might not be worth your while anymore, depending on what else you’re wearing. Probably better than 258 T10, 264 T10 may be debateable, and probably not as good as anything 277. I don’t have the stats in front of me, though.

2. I looked on Elitist Jerks for some guidance and find this thread lacking (compared to the Retribution Thread). Any other sites that you know of that has a theorycraft relevent to this time period (4.0.1 until Cataclysm release)? Since I am new to tanking, the gemming seems straightforward (Stam, Stam, Stam, Stam, Stam, Stam, Stam, Stam, Wonderful Stam, Wonderful Stam!, stamstamstamstam, stamstamstamstam), but HP and the new spell rotations, glyphing, what order I should have on my bars, mods, macros, etc. makes me scratch my head a bit. I’m looking for something that takes me from 0-60 in 3.2 days. Know of any?

The paladin T10 4 piece is pretty bad, but definatly get the 2 piece if you can. Make sure you’re hit capped and have 26 expertise, or somewhere around there. Then take a look at this video http://www.youtube.com/user/consolecrusader#p/u/24/j_qgt5Wi_KE there’s some swear words as a heads up but he explains the single target rotation and what to look for very well.
For 5 mans and AoE threat I open up with Avengers Shield, Judgement, tab Hammer of the Righteous, Holy Wrath, tab Hammer of the Righteous, tab Judgement, by then the mobs are either dead or almost dead so you can head to the next group.
Personally I’d probably drop the Titansteel Shield Wall in favor of the PvP shield just because it has more stamina. Maybe pick up the PvP sword as well since slow weapons give more threat than fast ones. Reins has both of the ICC tanking patterns so just mail him the mats or catch me online if you want them made.
Once you get all that sorted, I’d say go practice on a dummy for a while just to get used to watching for the procs and what buttons to push then queue for an easy dungeon. Personally I like going into H VH whenever I start tanking on a character, everything’s pretty straightforward in there.
With Cataclysm 5 weeks away, I wouldn’t put too much effort into min/maxing your pally tank’s gear – just grab what seems to be be best upgrades you can without really quibbling between two sidegrades. My pally went with the cataclysm chest and T10 legs simply because I liked the look better
For shield, you may consider the wrathful PvP shield sold in the Dal sewers – no avoidance at all, but a decent dose of health and armor, and only 70 honor. Other than spamming reg HoR, your only other alternatives are in raids.
Tanking boots drop in HFoS.
Bracers you’ll have to buy crafted outside of raiding ToC or ICC.
From your list, though, you should be good to go for tanking ICC10 at the very least. Again, I doubt you’ll get to the point where min/maxing similar pieces is going to matter before cata drops.
I’m all decked in T9. Is it a good idea to just let my Justice Points grow and start getting gear when Cata drops, as opposed to trying to deck myself out in T10? Not raiding, I’m on the low side of DPS in Heroics, I do a BG every once in a while. I figure saving is better than spending right now, right?
Your JP will cap at 4,000 and I think you have to be 85 to buy the first set of T11. You could use your current JP to buy and sell orbs or gems.
And belated grats on 80 Quasi!
What’s the “cataclysm” armor that Shin and Yeti are talking about? Is that the name of the piece or are they related to the expansion?
- Went on a Wintergrasp raid this evening and like a dumb ass forgot to flag myself PVP on my portrait. (I tought you just clicked on that little shield in the action bar. I got 52 honor points anyway, but goddam, the lag was HORRENDOUS! Is it like that all the time, or is it me?
Anyway, now I’m supposed to report to that Captain in Wintergrasp, but I can’t get near him because as soon as I arrive there, I get my ass kicked. (Probably because I didn’t flag myself again, right? I now have a flight path there, though.
Additionally, I picked up a quest while in the battle: Destroy one of the south towers.
- Herbalism: I am now at level 94 with that, and I am searching on the Hillsbrad foothills and Silverpine Forest, but damn, those plants are hard to find and I am using Gatherer. Also, when I come up on some, they require a higher level than the one I have. There doesn’t seem to be a definitive “formula” for farming herbs.
Oh, yeah. There’s supposed to be some inbetween the Alterac Mts. and some other place. meant to tell y’all, I got so into looking for herbs there, I fell into a Horde camp and got my ass kicked and had to let the Spirit Healer do his/her thing. BTW, I thought always thought those were real people who did that as a profession. Guess not.
- So I guess I’ll wait to join the next battle in Wintergrasp. If I got 52 points and didn’t even flag myself, I oughta be able to do better than that when i do, huh?
Thanks

Quasi----Not sure what you mean by flagging yourself for WG. To participate, you talk to the NPC outside the portal, and join the queue. After that you can enter the zone to shop/quest/look around, or do something else until the battle starts. When it does, you’ll get a pop up asking you to accept the call to battle. When you do, you will be transported to the start point.
If you enter the zone when the regularly scheduled battle is not in progress, I think you get flagged automatically.
Rambling on to other topics…
I took the advice here and reforged spirit into +hit to get back to the cap on my mage. Only had two pieces of gear with spirit on them…belt and ring, but it was enough.
Ran the weekly with my guild. It was Something or other the Deconstructor, in Ulduar, past Flame Leviathan. Posted about 4800 dps on him as frost with latency over 2k, which ain’t too shabby. If I had a decent connection, I could do scary dps.
HH continues to shower me with Hallowed Helms and Squashlings, but no mount.
Did both versions of VoA, saw Sanctified Bloodmage Gloves drop, but I lost the roll.
Aren’t there supposed to be Wrathful boots for sale for Honor somewhere? I looked in Dal and Stormwind, but didn’t see them…
Yes, you get PvP flagged automatically as soon as you enter Wintergrasp, whether there’s a battle in-progress or not.
Okay. Well, I used the little PVP shield on my action bar and up popped the choices for the battles. I saw Wintergrasp was in progress and chose to join that one and was transported there instantly. I thought that’s the way you do it.
When the battle was over (Alliance won), I remembered the thing about clicking on the portrait and saw that my PVP was disabled, which is what made me think I wasn’t fighting while I was in there.
I did use the portal to go see that Captain, but when I arrived, a couple of the Horde were right there and killed my ass.
Thanks

And I wish someone would address the lag/latency problem. It was so bad, I couldn’t tell where the enemy was. All I saw were a bunch of people with green writing over their heads all bunched up together.
All I saw of the Horde every now and then were their siege vehicles. I ended up jumping on one of the Alliance’s siege vehicles and riding along till the game ended.
Long story short, I didn’t know whether to shit or go blind.
Thanks

I don’t think you need to flag yourself at all, it is a pvp area no matter what.
On Wednesday, Wolkie, “Double L” (Wollkie) and me raked in about 100g by combining my dailies, my spare change I get in a drop, and by farming leather and iceweb spider silk!
One question: The questgiver in the Argent tent wants me to kill 8 Scourgies - anywhere except in the Bombardment. So I go to the Argent camp not far from Crystal song and kill the Scourge spiders which drop the Borean leather.
However, they’re only 77’s and very easily killed.
When I leave the tent, the yellow arrow wants to send me to Shadow Vault where the Scourgies are level 80’s. I know this because they killed us when I tried for the ocular quest at level 78.
So has anyone done those guys and how are the drops there?
I don’t really NEED to farm the Argent spiders. I can farm at Gundrak or K3’s cave too. I’ve just been playing it “safe” I reckon.
Thanks

Okay, at 2:30 this morning I qeued up again and went in. While waiting I spoke with an 80 Rogue and among the advice I got from him was when I attained the rank of Corporal I was supposed to get a siege engine.
I went to the factory and stood there while they dropped down but had no idea of how to buy one, get in one or anything, so hell, I left the party.
Did a google and found out that one “creates” a siege vehicle. How?
And why can’t I use my sword to fight? I get off Silka, target, and just stand there looking goofy.
I just keep getting honor points and achievements and I’m not doing a damned thing.
Thanks
