You shouldn’t be losing honor unless you spent it, and it would be very hard to do that accidentally.
Did you buy anything from the vendors in Wintergrasp? They sell stuff for honor points, instead of for gold.
No. Didn’t purchase anything.
Also, I am SURE I had 102 points, because I googled “honor point purchases” and found a list of many pages for each faction and remember looking at items meant for warriors and how they were mostly junk at 102 (or thereabouts) points. I remember thinking I have a long way to go before I can purchase any kind of decent gear.
Tonight, I do have 93 honor points, but that was because of the battle I was in LAST (Fri) night, which I had not claimed till tonight.
Question: WHO decides who gets chosen to enter the WG battle with the group? Is it the game, or is it a real live person?
The reason I am asking is because I didn’t get chosen to go in with the rest of the group tonight. I received a message from the game informing me i was qeued, but not yet ready to go into battle. Made me feel like the last kid standing when sides were chosen in grammar school!
If it’s a live person (the raid master), then he must have had a look at my gear and decided I wouldn’t make the cut. I waited while 2 others were transported and then I went and did some farming. It’s now 11:39pm. I’ll try again later during the night.
For the daily: The Grand Melee, where are the horses (Elwynn steeds) located exactly (landmark?)?
Thanks
Quasi
You get your Honor Points as soon as you earn them - you don’t “claim” them later.
There is a limit to how many people get in, and I would guess people are chosen in the order they queued (first come, first served). Once the limit is reached, you might get to join later if somebody else drops out.
I stand corrected. What I meant was, I didn’t get the 13 gold until Saturday night, sorry. I didn’t go back to the yellow question mark till then, is what I meant.
Okay, tonight went a little better - even though I died several times. And speaking of dying: how come the resurrection time re-started itself like 4-5 times? Every time it wound down to zero, instead of rezzing and continuing the battle, I had to stand there while it restarted itself.
I built a siege vehicle because I had attained the rank of 2nd lieutenant. Still very directionally challenged though, so I left it and jumped on someone else’s.
I’m not exactly sure what they mean by “defending” a siege vehicle though. Am I supposed to jump off and fight Horde when we get close to them or do I just ride on the thing?
Double L was doing some auctioning tonight, when out of the blue a trade window appeared with 100 g’s in it. Someone named darknessxx told me to take it - she just wanted to help out.
Honor point score (after tonight’s last WG - the one I DIDN’T have to wait till they had an opening) 165. Justice points remain at 24.
Thanks

Ok, with Cataclysm around the corner I decided to renew my subscription(I stopped playing in June, and I stayed away from this thread). I’ve downloaded the latest patch and I’m installing it right now, I just wish Blizzard’s updater would check available disk space before it’s tries to install a patch. grumbles
Hopefully I’ve got all my critical addons up to date.
Dear Og, Odin, Zeus, Flying Spaghetti Monster, and whatever other deity you care to invoke, after downloading a 5 GB patch, waiting an hour or so for it to install only to realize the game will crash when I try to log on, sifting trough the tech support forum to find a fix and learning that you need to start the game through the launcher to avoid this, it turns out that the launcher wants to download another 1.6 GB.
Sigh Good thing I started this early on a Sunday, rather than after I got home on Monday.
Quasi–you can get a few more justice points…and possibly a mount, sword, helm or other stuff by doing Headless Horseman again. You could have run that mini-dungeon every day during the event. Think today is the last day for it. Check your bags for a “loot filled pumpkin”–if you have one, open it and take whatever is inside before doing the instance today. After killing HH, you’ll get another one (you can get one per day). Think you also get 24 Justice Points for him, too.
Don’t worry about dying a lot. Everybody dies a lot in PvP. Just keep doing what you’re doing, as long as you’re having fun. Honor points will come. You can try some of the other BGs between runs at WG if you like…
My in-game calendar (as a guildie kindly pointed out last night) says Hallow’s End ended at 4AM this morning.
Also, tomorrow is Day of the Dead. Don’t forget to visit your local graveyard and do those quests.
The in-game calendar lies. I ran the Horseman runs a couple hours ago, and trick-or-treating/candy pumpkins/decorations are all up.
Dirty, rotten, lying calendar…well, at least I have an extra day to try for the reins.
Quasi…the res timer bug is just that, a bug. I think everyone’s had it, it seems random, and the best way to fix it is to just retalk to the spirit guide. So far, that has worked. And yep, annoying as heck.
Quasi, do you know about Call to Arms honor weekends? Skip incoming wall of text if so, but it’s a good way to get honor points; even when you lose, the BGs are regular enough that at least you get some practice built up as well as whatever honor you gain during the BG itself.
When you hit H <default key to bring up PvP BGs> on the weekends there will be a Call to Arms listed next to one of the BGs. If you queue for those BGs and play, you get extra bonuses if you win. It’s a different BG each weekend, and if your character is sub-70 or so, it may not show up if that weekend’s choice is a BG you’re too low for, but it guarantees an 80 will have a chance for regular BGs without too much of a queue.
They run from Friday morning <midnight Thursday> to patch time on Tuesday, so it’s most of the week, really.
I know there have been a crapload of complaints on the official forums about the dates the calendar showing vs. the time of day the event ends being confusing/deceptive. Basically, with the calendar making it appear as if the holiday runs “through” such-and-such a date, but actually ends in the wee hours of the morning on that same day when nobody is on anyway.
IMO, holidays should end a 11:59 PM (server time, preferably) on the last day shown on the calendar, not at 2:00 or 3:00 AM on that same day.
Oh, and running HH and then Gundrak got my mage enough JPs to buy her T10 helm. Hooray 4-piece set bonus!
The Gundrak group stuck together and queued for another dungeon, and dammit, we got Forge of Souls. It turned out the tank had only dinged 80 about an hour earlier, was wearing PvP gear, and led us into a wipe on the third trash pull because he was taking so much damage so quickly that the healer couldn’t keep up. One DPS dropped, then somebody initiated a vote kick on the tank (reason: inadequately geared), which passed. Requeued, got a new tank and DPS, and made our way to Bronjahm. I got feared into the soulstorm, which killed me. Got rezzed, made our way to the Devourer of Souls, engaged the DoS, at which point the new tank apparently decided to drop group. Wiped again, though I somehow managed to be the last one standing (probably due simply to the fact that I was the only ranged DPS in the group and thus was furthest from the boss). Requeued, got yet another tank, tried Devourer of Souls again, wiped even faster this time. Not sure why we wiped that time, and I didn’t ask, I just decided four deaths were enough and my repair bill was already high enough, and dropped.
Then I ghost-flew back to the instance to recover my corpse, and got hung up at the loading screen. After waiting a while I force-quit the game, relaunched it, logged back in, loaded up my character, and found she was still stuck on the FoS loading screen. I was worried I’d have to call customer service to get her unstuck, but I decided to wait it out and eventually got past the loading screen. Teleported back to Dal and bought my T10 helm, and called it a night for that toon.
Thanks, Taomist!!! I’ll remember about the spirit guide and will check out the Call to Arms BG tonight!
Quasi
PS: Will there be a dungeon similar to HH for Christmas (that I can play every day?)
IIRC, the event is called Winterveil or Winter’s Veil or something like that. Check your in-game calendar, it’s at the upper right corner of your screen and today’s date will be shown. Then you can go to December and check out what’s going on that month.
Caved and bought my T10 spaulders because I am sick and tired of looking at the ugly T9 hunter ones. Was 60 points short of picking up the hand guards too. ![]()
I did Call to Arms a little while ago, thanks again Taoist!
Couple of Quasi-Q’s:
-
Sometimes when we get hit it knocks us sideways, and it’s hell getting Wolkie straight so he can fight again. I know it must look silly as hell as he turns and goes up and down. Is this a normal thing from getting hit? (also fled once! :))
-
I wonder if I could be using my charge right? I get close, hit the button and Wolkie runs up to the enemy, but it always seems like that first strike with the sword gets us no damage. Am I supposed to let him hit on his own at the end of the charge or initiate a hit on my own.
Thanks
Q
Note to self: Wait until the jumping kiddies have gone to bed to do any BG’s.
-
I try to ignore someone and I get a message: “You can’t ignore any more players”. How can I fix this?
-
The game wouldn’t let me leave Call to Arms before the end of the battle?
Thanks

I’m not up on the minutiae of warrior pvp, but I’m pretty sure that they added a swing timer reset to charge in order to bring down warrior burst damage. Your auto-attack should be engaged though, after a charge.
Charge doesn’t do any damage, it just gets you to the target quickly and then stuns the target for 1.5 seconds (and also generates Rage).
On my warrior, I Charge and then immediately hit Rend.
