New WoW General Discussion Thread 6/8/10

:smack: Why does the RNG hate me so?

Just downloaded that a couple days ago

That’s pretty much what I’ve been doing, except I prefer Frostfire Bolt to Fireball as my primary nuke. And of course I’m still learning to use the new Combustion.

Edit: And “Worried Citizens” kneeling before General Marcus Jonathan.
Hey, I just came out of the Pig & Whistle Tavern in SW, and there’s this Doomsayer (Twilight Cult, I guess) preaching to a crowd of Stormwind Citizens!

Hmm. Actually, they seem to be all over Old Town. And Raging Wind Elementals at the front gates! It has begun!

It’s my understanding that at lower Mastery levels (and Mastery is currently a lousy stat for mages, compared to things like hit, crit, and haste), Fireball is actually better than FFB. This changes with more Mastery, which I think will come into play (and be more important) as we level to 85). I’ve tried it both ways, and I have consistently higher DPS when just sticking to Fireball.

Edit: The thing to remember about Combustion is to use it when you’ve got the biggest number of DoTs ticking for the longest time. So make sure you’ve got everything up and relatively fresh before using it.

Oooooh! Now I can’t wait to get home this afternoon! There go my dailies…

Incidentally, I think my hard work the last four or five days has paid off…I got all of my Loremaster achies except for Icecrown, got Exalted with Sons of Hodir so I could get the enchant, got Revered with Ebon Blade so I could get THAT enchant, and paid a ton of money to buy scrolls to enchant everything else off the AH. Every last piece of equipment is now enchanted, up from…well, nothing except my runed weapon before I started the improvement regimen. I’m still well below the hit cap, though, because I have an almost pathological aversion to grouping and all the really good gear is in Northrend instances.

However, I am now soloing (well, soloing with my ghoul, army of the dead and gargoyle) stuff that I couldn’t even survive before the last patch. I know part of that IS the patch but a lot of it is the enchants.

ETA: I guess that anonymous dink who /examined me a couple months ago and said “Man, your gear stinks!” actually DID get to me…

I want the new combos of classes with current races to go live. :frowning: My husband already renamed his BElf pally to something punny for a tauren (Cthulmoo), and I want to convert my undead warlock into a troll. /sulks

I am a happy camper. My DK is now Bloodsail Admiral Anathaemus, complete with sexy pirate outfit and hat! I’ve been wanting to get that for awhile now, but I always figured it was going to be a long and arduous grind (which I hate). But since it’s going away with the next patch, I figured I’d better get on with it, so I jumped on the opportunity to join up with a group that a guildie organized and headed over to Booty Bay to do some killin’.

Turns out it didn’t take long at all. About an hour and a half and I had the title. I was very lucky and didn’t realize it–it’s much easier for DKs to get it, since most of them never did any questing that would lower their rep with the Bloodsail Buccaneers. You still start at Hated, but just barely. My poor shaman guildie who had Loremaster was nearly 36,000 points into Hated, which meant he had to overcome all of that before he could start climbing any further. All I had to do was work my way through Unfriendly and Neutral, which didn’t take long at all.

I don’t think I’ll try it on my mage, though. He’d never wear the outfit anyway, even though he’d look every bit as dashing in it as my DK.

I saw a T-shirt somewhere on the Internet that had a picture of a cow with facial tentacles, and the caption, “Cowthulu”

Heh heh heh -

Putting up posters warning about the cult … Stormwind Citizen came up to read the poster and said, “Well, that must be why my neighbor shaved his head and donned those robes. Maybe he’ll let me have his stuff.”

True. I watched a Draenei Death Knight with 140,000+ health destroy 3 siege engines and slaughter their crews and passengers, in one of those corners of the WG fortress wall, while under continuous fire from all wall guns and several siege engines (as well as any players on the ground, at least until they too died)… for nearly 7 minutes of continuous fire, until finally succumbing. Ye Gods. Blood spec PvP + tenacity == nearly immortal wrecking machine.

Still, that’s the tactical perspective. From the strategic perspective, that kind of tenacity means that that side is so desperately shorthanded they’ll never hold enough workshops to mount a meaningful attack on the fortress, and that’s the only real point of that battleground. So I’m happy when I see 14 stacks of tenacity on the warrior that singlehandedly destroys my catapult and slays me in 5 seconds. It means we will win, period. Even a full raid of knuckleheads won’t ruin that.

Yeah, having 10 stacks of tenacity is kind of like being a raid boss; you have VAST COSMIC POWER but somehow you still can’t kill all of the damn players swarming around you.

Just pray that you will be milked first!

I’m a fan of the “Hello Cthulhu” (Kitty) items, myself.

Yeah Cowthulhu is bad enough on his own, but you also have to watch out for his vast army of Beef Ones.

This has absolutely nothing to do with WoW, but I think if you like Hello Cthulhu, you’ll like this.

Yeah, I wish that ‘Tenacity’ meant ‘Instant siege’. Seriously.

Honor points down to 247 tonight from 281 last night. No purchases. Did Call To Arms (WSG) and WG, (twice). I started a ticket.

Thanks

Q

wrings hands I have a mail from the WoW Dev Team waiting for me, but I can’t get to it because I’m flying all the away across bloody Kalimdor (Darnassus to Feathermoon). What is it what is it what it is I’m not expecting Dev Team mail.

Bleh, the quest Battle for the Undercity bugged for my DK tonight; there was a pally there who was similarly affected. I got there and it said they were at the Royal Quarter battle, so I raced down there. I found Thrall fighting a bunch of Alliance guard NPCs in the hallway to the throne room, and Varian Wrynn standing around watching. No way to complete the quest. I hearthed out to Dalaran, portaled to Orgrimmar, and it was in the pre-Battle state yet, but there was no portal to outside UC in Thrall’s chambers. So I took the zep over, and the battle was still stuck at the “Royal Quarter” part. I put in a ticket and of course there’s a long line.

Edit: A mage ran up - I guess he ran into the same thing yesterday. I wonder how long it’s been stuck on our server?

I just did that on my draenei warrior … what with that conference of leaders in the SW throne room, it was amusing seeing two Jainas standing there :stuck_out_tongue:

Did the Cata pre-quests…I’m guessing there will be a new event every week or so until the expack drops.

I finally opened up the mainline Icecrown quests. My gear upgrades enabled me to bring down the three Scourge lieutenants in Scourgeholme or Deatholme or whatever the area beyond the Breach is called. Got Crusader’s Pinnacle set up, and we’re off.

ETA: I’m at something like 87/140 for the Icecrown (and therefore the Northrend, and therefore the meta Loremaster) achievement.
