Sorry for the confusion, that must be what I was thinking of.
Well, they’ve mentioned that they’re going to be bringing out tabards for all of the different home cities that can be worn in dungeons, much like the Wyrmrest Accord/Argent Crusade/Ebon Blade/Kirin Tor tabards. I’d imagine, therefore, that once you get to whatever reputation level you need to purchase those, you’d wear them to get the rep. ETA: Of course, I know the Worgen aren’t getting racial mounts, so they may not make them available in the interest of fairness.
Speaking of rep–I hit Exalted with Exodar yesterday, which means 50 mounts, which means Albino Drake. Yay. I just need to get to a hundred now, 'cause, dammit, I want a dragonhawk. ![]()
Get in line! I’m up to 77 now, although I should get another PvP mount and the Argent Crusade flier in the next day or two. I probably won’t be doing much mount-grinding after Cata hits though, so I’ll probably be stuck around 80 for a while.
Yes, there are tabards for all the factions, and you can get rep by wearing them in dungeons.
You will be able to buy the Goblin mount. The reason there is no Worgen mount per se is that the Alliance has one more mount than the Horde, so this is Blizz’s way to equalize that. Which is really too bad, because I think it would be amusing to get exalted with the Worgen, get the ability to buy their “mount,” and when you use it your human or gnome or whatever trots off at a high rate of speed on all fours. ![]()
I hate to beat my head against a dead horse, but because of my (sometimes) inability to understand the requirements of a quest and accompanying short-term memory problems, it is better for me to farm things such as the first aid items. I don’t care that it takes more time, in other words, and it isn’t monotonous because I switch from farming to questing to doing the occasional daily.
I know that isn’t the way y’all do it, but it’s the easiest way for me.
Thanks

:dubious:
I’m obviously missing something…Human (horses), Night Elf (cats), Dwarf (ram), Gnome (Mecha-chicken), Draenei (Space elephant). That’s five, and the Horde has five, too. What’s the extra mount?
Quasi, have you done any of the PVP dailies? There are several in Grizzly Hills, one near Amberpine Lodge, where all you have to do is kill I think 10 horde-aligned npcs in a lumber camp. You will be flagged for world PVP from when you accept the quest until you turn it in, but at least on my server, I haven’t seen any Horde players trying to fight Allies there. You get gold and honor as rewards. Also, up north of there, there’s another lumber camp with several dailies…one to drive malfunctioning shredders back for repair, one to gather parts (sparkly things on the ground), one to bandage wounded soldiers, and one to kill more horde NPCs.
Also, there are more pvp-type quests down at Venture Bay. I think sometimes there are a few hordies contesting those, but not always.
Just throwing those out as a way for you to get more honor without dealing with a battleground all the time…
Also, it’s kinda nice seeing the old “quest countries” again.

I think we’re talking “total possible obtainable in the game,” not simply factional mounts, but I don’t know what the extra mount is either.
In Catclysm, Horde will have one more possible mount than Alliance. The Goblins will have one - Worgen will not. That annoys some people who like to collect such things. This is the case since the Tauren went to Kodos.
Right, someone up there said that this only fixes the imbalance because the alliance already had one extra mount.
Yeah, I’m not sure what it is either. Obviously it’s not a faction mount, but that’s what I heard–that somewhere, the Alliance has one more available to them.
Wowhead is great for looking up drop rates. Blasted lands look like your best place to farm it. I have farmed it before and I was able to get a stack of 20 in 5 minutes or less. Plus, you can usually get to Blasted Lands relatively easy now with the portals in the main cities. (At least I can vouch for the Horde cities.)
:smack:
Durrr.
It’s not each type of mount that matters. Each mount has different varieties that each count as a specific mount, which is what matters to collectors. Some have 3 types, some have 4, and that’s where the discrepancy came from. List of mounts
Really, the tabards are gonna be a godsend. And keep in mind, the existing cloth turn-ins are going away, so if you’re stockpiling Runecloth (either to use or to sell), dump it before the expansion hits.
Looks like the latest Phase of the Cata event has started, logged into the middle of Org to see everyone fighting fire elementals.
From what I can tell once you defeat all the elementals, two portals become available. One for Earth and one for Fire, each have their own mini boss that drops 251 level loot. Haven’t been to TB and UC so I’m not sure if there are different portals for those cities or if it’s the same.
I just came in to post that the same thing is happening in IF–got an email from my pocket healer.
That’s Phase II. I’d say a city-wide invasion of actual hostile, powerful elementals along with an attached raid(?) event with ilvl 251 loot is huge.
And I do like how this is being handled so far. The invasion isn’t random and unscripted like the zombie invasion was…in between the events, you can still do your capital-city business without the danger of turning into a zombie. AND it’s only capitals, as far as I know, so if you’re in Crossroads or Ratchet, you’re completely untouched.
Were there events like these for Burning Crusade? I can’t remember…it’s been forever.
So can you queue for the elemental bosses like the holiday bosses or do you have to group up in Org or wherever? Sounds like the Burning Dogs might have something to keep themselves occupied tonight if we don’t have enough for ICC.
I haven’t seen it for myself yet today, but I like the way it sounds. Something special to celebrate the expansion, but not so intrusive it ruins everything else.
Would like more info on how the boss-portal thingies work though. Can only one group get the kill per portal, or does it exist for a certain time, and however many groups that wish to participate get to do it? Definitely sounds like something I’d like to do on both my 80s. Kinda wish it scaled down so lower levels could do it, too, though. I have a sub-40 dwarf Pally that would like to do his part to defend Ironforge…
