So? No kudos about the steaming donkey shit, huh?
I thought that was pretty damn intense coming from a guy who’s on 3 kinds of ant-depressives!
Or maybe that’s the problem! ![]()
Okay. Darn or Ex. We’re gone.
Thanks, guys

w00t! My mage endured a couple very rough heroics, but finally got enough JPs to get that last piece of T10, the pants.
First heroic was CoS. Pally tank in T9 who somehow couldn’t hold aggro for shit. Or else the healer was starting to heal him much too early on each pull. Almost every single wave that spawned, he’d run in there and do his thing, and almost immediately about half the group would peel off him and go charging past me, straight at the healer. Either that, or I’d give him a good 5-10 seconds to establish threat, and then my second Flamestrike would have them all coming after me.
Second heroic was PoS, with a well-geared paladin tank who was trying too hard to be awesome. She decided to gather up every single one of those rock-dragging whatsits right before Ick & Krick, and then proceeded to drag them all over creation. Seriously, who needs six of those things spewing their slime puddles in every direction at once? It took forever to get them all down because everybody was spending as much time dancing out of the goo as they were attacking the mobs. And then … and then when it came time to run through the tunnel, she kept freaking stopping. First time I’ve ever ended up repeatedly passing the tank in that tunnel.
Well anyway, full set of T10
Earlier, my paladin got in on a HoL run, in which the tank got DC’d right before Loken (confirmed by the healer, from the same guild, who said he’d also been DC’d from Vent). So we ended up 4-manning Loken, no problem.
My pally has officially dropped Tailoring and has started the process of powerleveling Alchemy. Had to send my mage out farming for Briarthorn, because people are pricing that crap at 99g/stack. In any case, I really need an alchemist because I have Pygmy Oil out the wazoo. Gotta make some Guru’s Elixir!
I think tonight was idiot’s night in Azeroth. Last dungeon I attempted was Heroic Nexus. Pally Armored Personnel Carrier (guy is utterly unworthy of being called a tank) had a whopping 24k hp. Healer was rocking a 2100 gear score.
Yeah. I saved one wipe by dropping to bear form when tank died on pull. Couldn’t save the next one, when our Pally friend charged boldly into the Princess room…with all her adds up…
Yup, the tools were out in force. Did you know that the best way to show off your rare epic mount is to park it in front of the people trying to fish in the Dal fountain? And for some reason the guy fishing to my right kept tossing Baby Spice at the guy fishing to my left instead of tossing it at the tauren who was AFK with his motorcycle parked on top of Marcia Chase.
Are there separate mechanisms/interfaces for reporting a player as opposed to simply reporting an “issue”? Because it seems kind of pointless to report somebody for afk-ing on top of a questgiver when “We’re currently experiencing a high volume of petitions and we might get to your problem some time next week.”
Big congrats on Bane! And good luck getting your guild issues sorted out. ![]()
Actually, the flexible lockout should help you with that. You’re only locked into a single raid for Heroics; to kill just LK, you can join *any *raid that’s trying to kill him, as long as they’ve killed at least as many of the previous bosses as you have. So just look for raids that are trying to fill for LK, either on 10 or 25, and you should be set.
Congrats! Is that your four-piece bonus? Or did you have that already and this is just #5?
24k is perfectly acceptable for Heroics. I probably had about that much when I was tanking Naxx (I don’t think I even hit 30k until late Naxx or early Uld). Now, if he doesn’t know what he’s doing on top of that (bad talents/gear/gems/chants/rotation) or if your healer is failing, that will get you killed. But just because you’re used to people in ICC gear rocking twice that HP doesn’t mean that it’s necessary for Heroics.
Yup, in fact, I just checked my screenshots, and I found one from January 5, 2009, in the Arachnid Quarter, with me having 25,666 HP, partially buffed (flask up). And here’s an earlier one from December where I only had 23,861 HP unbuffed.
No, you want Report an Issue, because you don’t need to talk to the GM. If you’re annoyed by the prospect of having a ticket open for days, do what I do: copy down all the information, and open the ticket on an alt (preferably same server, but you can specify details if you have to).
That was then, this is now. Remember how hit points went up when 4.0.1 dropped? Pre-patch, this guy woulda been at about 20K or so. Maybe if the healer was a Kingslayer he could get through it, but that ain’t gonna fly when the healer is also undergeared.
Yeah i didn’t start queueing as a tank for heroics until i had 35k, it’s really not hard.
Argh, I forgot that the whole reason I logged on was for this:
**Shatter **(Rank 2)
Multiplies the critical strike chance of all your spells against frozen targets by 3.
Brain Freeze (Rank 3)
Your spells no longer trigger Arcane Missiles. Instead, your Frost damage spells with chilling effects have a 15% chance to cause your next Fireball or Frostfire Bolt spell to be instant cast and cost no mana. When Frostfire Bolt is instant, it can benefit from Fingers of Frost. Brain Freeze cannot be triggered by Frostfire Bolt.
Fingers of Frost (Rank 3)
Gives your Chill effects a 30% chance to grant you the Fingers of Frost effect, which causes your next Ice Lance or Deep Freeze spell to act as if your target were frozen. Fingers of Frost can accumulate up to 2 charges and lasts 15 sec.
So,
1.) I was right that there was another Talent that is affected by your target being frozen.
2.) FFB under BF benefits from FoF.
3.) FoF no longer treats targets as frozen for all spells: only IL, DF, and FFB procs under BF.
#3 is nice in the sense that an accidental FB no longer eats up a charge, but it blows for Shatter and Mastery, since raid bosses can’t be frozen. I wonder if this is maybe a case of Blizzard’s shitty wording coming into play again, where Shatter and Frostburn will also work when FoF is up.
The whole point of FoF is that shatter works during it.
While 24k is on the lower end of the spectrum these days, it is indeed what we(or well, non-druids, bears had a bit more) at the beginning of Wrath.
The problem isn’t that people have “bad” gear, it’s that they act like they were wearing T10.
The other day I was doing Nexus normal with my level 70(well, 71 now) mage, and the tank pulled three or so groups, we wiped and the healer told him not to pull so many groups. The tank responded: “Why not?”
Just piece #5 to complete the set. Now I just need to upgrade her belt, boots, and bracers. I can save up JPs for the belt, but I’ll have to look up where to get boot and bracer upgrades. ICC 5-mans, no doubt, since both slots are currently iLvl 219.
Actually, the “Talk to a GM” button seems to have disappeared in any case. Also, they said the fixed the bug where the “You have an open ticket” box was covering up my buffs. Well no, no they didn’t.
And arg, now that my paladin has dropped Tailoring, I just remembered that now my mage is going to need to grind through the Sons of Hodir and Knights of the Ebon Blade quest chains, and then some rep to get access to the Glacial Bag and Abyssal Bag patterns.
I found the WoW-Professions site and I’m using this guide here to powerlevel Alchemy. How does that look to you alchemists out there?
Actually, no, there’s two other points as Guns just said (and I said yesterday).
Going by how the talents are written, FoF does not work for Frostbolt or Blizzard or Cone of Cold or anything but DF, IL, and instant FFB. You do not get the benefits of Shatter for any but those unless the target is actually frozen.
My mistake. I thought the question was “Does shatter’s crit bonus apply to FoF spells or does it just allow the ice lance bonus damage and deep freeze to be applied?”
Yeah, FoF is only for instants to nerf the shattercombo. I baffled that anyone would think otherwise, since it written right there in the talent.
I’m starting to think I need to keep Seal of Insight real up close and personal when I do randoms…
On two completely different runs yesterday, I had to do emergency heals when the healer went down. Once was in H PoS when the druid hotted up the tank right before he hit the Coldwraiths on that stretch. Result: The mobs went charging right over the emergency Consecration I dropped to eat the healer before boomeranging back to me - and to the tank. It took a while to grind them down with only the (new) lock alive to dps, but we survived. And then the healer went down *again *on Tyrannus. Sigh.
Similar result in H Gundrak.

That said, there is some really awesome lore in Shadowmoon Valley. I’m having a blast running Kutkal around while finding out the details of how Gul’Dan helped break up Outland and seeing the outside of Black Temple.
Plus, the Netherwing grind. /groan Fucking eggs, I swear. One amusing thing though: If you kill the oozes in the mine out there, you have a chance to find a Sludge-covered Object. The flavor text says “What wonderous treasure could the sludge be hiding?” Most of the time you get Sludge. “Just sludge…” ![]()
I only bothered killing slimes until they dropped the Mutiny Plans.
I’m glad you’re so intelligent and learned. I’m trying to understand the various interactions so that I make the best choices for spells to use.
That was…interesting. I’m in the inn in Goldshire. William Pestle is upstairs, dead. And there’s a “Stormwind City Guard” (not the “Stormwind Guard” that are elsewhere in Goldshire) in the inn itself.
ETA: And there’s a blood elf in a Santa bikini dancing in a room upstairs. I think this is one of those conversations you come in in the middle of not sure if you want to know how the rest of it went…
Well that was fun. Powerleveled my paladin’s Alchemy all the way up to 435 today, spending just a bit over 1000g in the process. Nice finally being able to use up all those Pygmy Oils and Pygmy Suckerfish I’ve been accumulating for months — I ended up making nearly 100 Guru’s Elixirs! I gave 20 of those to a rogue who popped 14 lockboxes for me. He was doing the boxes for free (he appears periodically in Dalaran and offers free lockpicking services), but since I had so many and he’s generous with his skills, I thought I’d reward him
And transmutes … w00t! Eternal Earth to Shadow? Eternal Water to Fire? Thankyouverymuch.
Guess I’ll flask my way up to 450. I hear that’s where the money is
Sounds like you’re on an RP server. ![]()
Once I was finished up with my paladin’s alchemy stuff Saturday night I logged in my warrior and queued for a random heroic, and found myself in Azjol’Nerub, apparently replacing another DPS who got the achievement he was looking for on the first boss and then bailed. So I finished AN with this group and got Hadronox Denied and Gotta Go! for myself. I ended up chain-running several heroics with this group. H:FoS was next (I guess that RDF is gonna put you in there whether you think you’re ready or not), and it went well. I won Papa’s New Bag off Bronjahm, and the Devourer of Souls dropped the Pauldrons of the Devourer, naturally, the day after I buy my T10 shoulders, so I just Greed rolled on those and somebody else won them.
Next up was H:Nexus, where I ended up with the Chaos Theory achievement and came out with a new ring and belt. The mage accidentally Needed on the belt and won it, but when she realized what she’d done she ran over and traded it to me, with an apology.
Then came H:Gundrak, where thanks to my tabard I hit Exalted with the Argent Crusade. Also picked up the What the Eck? achievement.
I finished up with H:HoS, and earned Looking for More, Looking for Many, (not sure how I got both of those at the same time) and Abuse the Ooze. At that point my surgery-recovery-and-vicodin-induced weariness forced me to call it a night. I thanked everybody for the great group and the fun, and left the group to log out.
It was really a pleasant experience. I normally hate running randoms on Friday and Saturday nights, just because on those nights I always seem to end up grouped with a combination of overgeared elitists and people who apparently only get to play on the weekend and don’t really know what they’re doing, and it’s just not fun because of all the insults and bad pulls/wipes and finger-pointing. But I got very lucky last night and ended up with a group of moderately-geared, polite, fun people who knew what they were doing, and it was a lot of fun doing one dungeon after another with them. And I finished 403 JPs ahead of where I started, so I’m almost 2/3 of the way to my T10 gloves ![]()
