New WoW General Discussion Thread 6/8/10

I’m in Argent Vanguard farming leather, and boy, those crusaders are killing much faster than they did a few days ago. If you can get in and help, expect the fight to last about 2 seconds and then you can loot.

Before, with 2 of us (me and a crusader) it took as much as 12 seconds for a kill sometimes).

Also (very comical), some of those 85 levels crusaders no longer run, they skate across the ice and snow in their boots! (They used to do that duck walk and some still do, only much faster).

Anyway a quick and easy farm for leather now.

For SFG:

My repair lady in Gun Drak still just stands there. No talk-balloon, no anvil, no nuthin’. She was really convenient) when I’d farm leather from the raptors and attack some other NPC’s in that area) to sell back junk to.

Also, yeah, I knew about how to find repair by clicking on the magnifying glass thingie, and do use it, but as I said - she was just really convenient. Doesn’t make sense that at this outpost they’d have a flight master, a couple of quest givers and now no repair person.

Thanks

Nah, it’s those D.E.H.T.A. loons you gotta worry about!
Also, I have to applaud this scene in SW:

Donna: Now who’s the crybaby, crybaby?

William: No fair! Give me back my gorilla!

… who are going out of town for the holiday weekend, but worry not, I will be here and will play in everyone’s honor, since I am not going to family’s Thanksgiving and except for going to the UWG track in the evenings for a bit of a run, I’ll be right here, playin’ my little heart out.

Yes, of course I’ll play poorly, but I’ll be thinking of y’all and saying stuff like “Now what would SFG, Oakie, jayjay, Rik, Boss, martu, Lizardling, FH, Tommy Scud, Skammie,Shin Kell and Jas do in this situation?”

  1. Just finished another battle in WG and at one time was #3 in DPS, according to Skada. There were 9 of us fighting. That’s good?

  2. How come sometimes I can’t get on the siege vehicle? No matter how close I ride, that curved arrow doesn’t appear for me. Does the driver control if anyone gets to jump on, or is it full already and I can’t get on because of that?

  3. When I ride through some Alliance NPC’s fighting some Horde NPC’s, I’m not supposed to get involved, right? But if a Horde NPC attacks, I have to deal with that, right, and does it count toward 10 Horde destroyed? How come I can’t loot off a Horde NPC?

  4. How come I can’t heal anyone with my first aid bandages? I target them, but it doesn’t work?

  5. I don’t understand what happens with the ranking system. At one time i was made 2 Lt. and didn’t know what (if anything) I had done to get there.

Thanks

H: Did you think I was gonna wait forever, Wolkie???

W: I’m sorry I was gone so long, Honey, but yeah, I thought you’d wait. There hasn’t been anyone else, I promise.

H: I believe you, I do, but I can’t say the same, sorry (shrugs).

W: So, umm… how many did you, uh, you know… do it with?

H: (slaps W) You don’t get to ask that question, sir!!!

W: Well, okay. Guess I’ll go. Be happy, okay?

H: Don’t be silly, it’s late. Grab a bed and stay the night. Want some late dinner?

W: (smiles) Well, seeing I’m on a quest for some feast-food, how about I contribute some potatoes? We’ll throw 'em in the fire and add 'em to what you have.

H: Wolkie?

W: Hmmm?

H: Really? No one else???

W: No one else, Honey, on my honor as a champion knight in training.

H: (smiles ruefully) No one else for me, either. I lied. Come here, you big dummy. (hugs him closely - very closely).

H: Now go take care of Silka, throw those potatoes in the campfire and then come to bed while we wait for them to get done!

So what’s gonna become of these two???

Messed up one of the pictures, sorry. I was really sweatin’ it, because my machine kept locking up (“not responding”) on me…

Man, you forsaken are going to positively LOVE how much hell I rain down on Undercity when the guild starts doing guild pvp stuff.

Sylvanas was the only horde leader I truly enjoyed killing for “For the Alliance”.

I’m Canadian, so I’ll still be around hibernating. I can’t answer questions about battlegrounds though!

I’m starting to get a feel for how “New” Org maps onto “Old” Org now.

I was in Darkshore earlier (don’t ask) and noticed that huge tornado in the middle. I went up to investigate and there was Malfurion Stormrage! Guess he woke up from his nap. Allies, what’s he doing there? Is he creating that megatornado or is he holding it in check. Since my toon was Horde, I thought better of going up to a 2+Million hp hostile NPC and asking myself.

Hey, my friend!

First of all, thank you for that detailed explanation. I think that by now you and my other buds know I need a lot of extra help sometimes.

This is one of those times, I’m afraid.

I can’t get STARTED!

I bought the recipe for spice bread in SW, but I can’t even get trained (although in my job descrption it says I’m a level 4 cook), so I don’t know where to go from here. Journeyman requires level 50, and I’m sorry, but what do I do? I have a campfire, would that help?

Thanks again

All I can think of is from a Terry Pratchett novel:

“Yo, bitch.”

The hunting will be FUN.

Shit, on my server we barely pay attention until the Alliance rolls into Orgrimmar.

On my server, the Horde cheered us on in Org, because we killed Garrosh first. The ONLY resistance I ever get with my PvP flag up in world is in UC.

Oh that’s right, Thrall’s out of there now. Well, between that and the lack of perma-portals to easily pour into a city, the Alliance can all get bear mounts for all I care, and I suspect a lot of more casual defenders would feel the same way. Then again, more Alliance may be more slacker-ish about taking Horde capitals for the same reasons.

However, I did pwn some level 80 human warrior on my 80 troll DK, the other day. I was doing an old quest line in Nagrand that I’d picked up at the appropriate level, and couldn’t finish because of the number of elites that I had to kill. I wasn’t going to group up just to finish it. At 80 and playing last weekend right before this latest patch, I figured I might as well, plus I wanted to see how it would work in this pre-Cata transition time. I returned to Garadar, and saw that someone had killed the flight master and some guards, and was busy with the guards at the entrance to the large hut containing the innkeeper and Greatmother Geyah. I’m not the type to engage in PvP generally, but no one scares Greatmother Geyah when I’m around. The guards kicked his ass once I dropped in and beat the crap out of him.

Why am I protective of her?

She’s Thrall’s grandma! The quest chain was the “Thrall comes to Nagrand” questline, and before Wrath, Thrall learned that some of his bloodline was still alive, Garrosh was alive and didn’t know his dad was a hero, etc. Also, Greatmother Geyah learned that her grandchild had survived and made good on Azeroth. And yes, Thrall still comes to Garadar, though you don’t have to do the trip back to Org and have the moment of the reveal to him, etc. He just yells to the zone within moments that he’s there, and rides up into Garadar.

My how clever the little doggy can talk. You look thirsty get down and all fours and lap this lovely drink up and I’ll rub your tummy for you. Yes that’s it play dead you good boy you…

Yes quite right The Light forbid we add a bit of silly RP colour to a thread about an RPG when one can discuss the definitions of cheating and automation.

I’d just like to add my voice to other posters here to point out that you come across as a bit of a dick in your posts in this thread. If that’s your intention more power to you but I thought I’d mention it anyway.

Did you right click on the recipe to learn it? To cook anything you have to make a campfire.

There are some roundish, black tables with a sort of hole in the center near those questgivers: those count as stoves.

You need to buy the book of Pilgrim’s Bounty recipes from the vendor by the tables. Right click it in your inventory, and it turns into 4 recipe scrolls. Select the one for spice bread stuffing, and right click to learn it.

Before you can make any spice bread stuffing, you first need to cook a load of spice bread. If you don’t have the recipe for this, you can learn it directly from the cooking trainer. You need to buy the ingredients, flour and mild spices. You’ll be able to get everything you need from the vendor. Spice bread + autumnal herbs are the ingredients for spice bread stuffing.

To cook, you need to be right next to a camp or other fire. If you open up your cookery window, clicking on a recipe you’ve learned shows you the ingredients required.

Cooking all the recipes involves travel between the gates of Stormwind, Ironforge, and somewhere in the middle of Darnassus. It doesn’t matter if you start outside Stormwind or Ironforge, but you’ll want to stock up on pumpkins outside Stormwind, and cranberries outside Ironforge (you’ll need them for later level recipes) to cut down on the amount of travel.

Hope that is of some help.

  1. Damage meter addons are not reliable in these kind of situations since there is a limited range on them, if the other players are too far away their damage will not be recorded. Also in PvP your total damage isn’t as important as what you’re attacking.

  2. The vehicle is either full or doesn’t take passengers at all, afaik the driver can’t stop you from mounting.

3&5) Killing NPCs doesn’t really help you win the battle as such, they do count towards you WG rank, the number of kills required to gain WG rank in a battle depends on how long the other side has held WG, the longer they’ve held it, the fewer kills you need to gain rank.
Killing NPCs does not count toward the quest and the reason you can’t loot them is because Blizzard made them that way.

  1. I can think of a few reasons, you target has been bandaged recently, your target is taking damage which interrupts the bandaging or your target moves out of range.
I’ve been doing some exploring and when I was in Westfall I decided to check out the Deadmines, it was different, but when I reached the last boss it turned really bizarre, the last boss was:

“Captain” Cookie, who sat in large cauldron and threw food at me.
