Not as many as you’d think, at least on Lightbringer where I rolled mine. Seemed there were a lot more hunters than shammys and there were crabs all over the place. I only got to about level 5 or 6, but I’ve gotten a huge kick out of the quests so far, playa.

I do have a couple of low-level Alliance toons on Alleria, a human paladin and a dwarf warrior. I usually only play them when Cairne is down. If I do roll a Worgen I don’t really have a realm preference, but I probably wouldn’t play it often. It would be nice to have him in a Doper guild though.

My allis are on Alleria and Garona which had the unfortunate luck to be put into the same battlegroup (Rampage) which is full of jackasses, at least on the alli side. The final straw was when some douchecanoe with Kingslayer bitched me out in a random heroic because he didn’t like my (non-raiding) mage’s spec and I’ve barely looked at them since. I’m down for the Doper guild anywhere tho since I’d rather play with you guys.
Has the idea of rolling allis on Cairne died? A friend and I are rolling worgens tonite but we haven’t decided what server yet.

Any opinions on where I should roll my Goblin?

Yes, yes. That wasn’t an option! I already have my Hunter, Hasati, on Cairne, with a farming DK to back her up (Getpaid). I don’t have much chance to play with my friends on ET since I moved my main to Korgath–theirs didn’t follow along this time–so if I’m anywhere but my main’s server, it’s going to be with them.
1 - People can send their BoAs cross-race now, right? So heirlooms for them what want them.
2 - We already have a guild and maybe a couple guild tabs or something. Bird’s alt is guildmaster, but unless he’s messed with the settings, anyone can recruit.
3 - Easier to switch between alts.
Disadvantages to Cairne:
1 - Altoholics like me who already have 10 toons on-server will have to pick someone to delete
2 - If Cairne & Emberstorm battlegroup go down, we can’t switch to our alts on another server.
Reason 2 is my main reason for thinking I’ll probably roll an alt on Alleria; but I’m also unlikely to play my worg beyond level 15 to 20 in any case.
Advantage #4: With people on both sides of the aisle, you can take advantage of the Alliance economy as well as the Horde one for any tough-to-find or overpriced items. (Muling items cross-faction via a neutral AH is very easy with two people on Vent.)
Took off early from work after a lunch meeting, bought Old World Flying, and am off playing with archaeology. Each dig is giving me 5500 exp (11k when rested) and I am currently putting together the pieces of what appears to be a “common” quality relic from the Night Elves, a “Scandalous Silk Nightgown.” Archaeology seems pretty intuitive so far, and it REALLY helps if you can fly – one of the dig sites was an island that’s been broken up and split into all sorts of pieces and would have been a huge PITA to navigate by foot.
Finished the nightgown – unfortunately not wearable. It’s just a gray vendor item worth 5s. I guess higher level stuff is more fun if the spoiler sites are accurate enough.
oh, trained in new Blacksmithing recipes. Initial green armor pieces are ilvl 289, blue holy pally gauntlets lvl 308.
Yeah, it’s possible to get purples out of Archaeology, although they’re the 85 equivalent of level 200 items (I think it’s 359 at 85?)
Also, WoW Insider is giving away video cards. I have my heart set on that GTX 460, though I’ve already planned to buy it this month if I don’t win it in the giveaway.
I haven’t done it yet, but I believe you need to be in proximity of the actual entrance. There’s a video up on wowhead, but I haven’t listened to the audio.
Yeah, just seems like a missed opportunity for coolness. There aren’t enough vanity items in the game IMO, and wearing ancient ceremonial robes and gowns and stuff you discover via archaeology would’ve been pretty neat. Then again, too much vanity, and you end up with EQ2, where it took 5 minutes to load all the custom textures in your fully-furnished guild hall. Zone in, grab some coffee, and come back hoping you could start walking, maybe.
Friend of mine rolled a goblin DK and started linking all her racial abilities to me in guild chat. Holy cow, they’re how DKs were as a class when they first came out. Tons of cool racials (vendor discounts, innate haste, rocket belt, a few others I can’t recall off the top of my head). Expect to see a boatload of goblins in the world.
It really is just a little ridiculous. The vendor discounts, I think, put it over the top. The rest are just cool little tricks on par with Shadowmeld and Cannabilize, but the vendor discounts are a real, tangible advantage.
That was my sentiments exactly when I got the Loremaster achievement. You get this stupid tabard with a big yellow “!” on it. I always thought it would’ve been awesome if they gave you some kind of vanity item like a hooded robe (just plain brown - like a monk would wear).
I think Human’s reputation bonus falls in the same category. It’s not going to help you in a fight (unlike, say, Stoneskin or Will of the Forsaken) but it’s a long term levelling/gearing advantage.
