New WoW General Discussion Thread 6/8/10

Is it just me, or is the worgen “mount” lame as hell?

OMG…without spoiling anything for anyone, can I just say that the very first scene you encounter after you get into Westfall is absolutely hilarious?

how do you undo the talent choices or can you not do that anymore? I went to my class trainer but don’t see an option to undo. The talent tree has a button that says undo but it is greyed out.

Thanks
Adhemar

There should be an option in the trainer dialogue (when you first click on him/her) that says something like “I’d like to unlearn my talents.”

You may have to be talking to a trainer in a capital city to be able to unlearn the talents. My husband found that a trainer in a small city didn’t have that option.

You know what’s funny?

Falcon Wing and Silvermoon City are just around the corner from each other. It’s an 18 second flight, fer cryin’ out loud!

Q

Oakie, you are correct, sir. Tried that and got no XP (and liked to got my pet killed!).

Thanks

Wow, level-80 enchants have PLUMMETED in price. Some are going for less than 10g on our server. I learned several new Cata enchants and have the mats but can’t use them until I have level 300 gear. They’re also not selling for much on the AH at this point so I’m just going to tuck the scrolls away for now.

the trainer in stormwind worked but Gee Whiz! that was costly!

Thanks Ferrer Herder

Without spoiling it…gah, I can’t not spoil it, I don’t think.

But yes. Yes it is, and I was going to post something yesterday when I about fell over laughing. I couldn’t believe what I saw with the glasses, either. <that’s not a spoiler, hehe>

Okay, my Belf now has a control panel for our pet and also has the taming ability to acquire other pets. Any fellow Hunters who’d like to give me some advice?

Thanks

Advance warning for people who really hate vehicle quests: in Hyjal, there’s a quest where you have a climactic battle with a dragon. Afterwards, there’s a quest to go destroy her eggs. This involves navigating the single clumsiest vehicle I’ve dealt with in WoW; if that kind of quest bugs you I recommend you just avoid it.

Haven’t played my hunter much lately but you might want to take a look at this webside.

That’s a great site, AEM, thanks!

I found my pet among the "crazed family’, and I guess at some point I’d like a white tiger.

Thanks

I was surprised that I had no problems with it.
I was half-expecting to get seasick. :stuck_out_tongue:
Once I realized that the control was bound to the ‘4’ key already, I just used that, and my mouse to manouvre, and it wasn’t much of a problem, far less of a problem than competing with 4 bajillion other people for the eggs. :stuck_out_tongue:

Dammit, Blizzard! First you make me feel bad for being annoyed at Zuni on Echo Isles, then you go and pull this with Orkus! Goddamn video game making me tear up…

Pretty sure it’s that clumsy on purpose - it’s an homage to the old Joust video game, up to an including the egg level.

I didn’t mean for this to happen, but it did, and I think it’s hilarious!

  1. We bought that criss-cross leather get up (complete with the arm-claws) you see in the pic below.

  2. Noticed he didn’t have a shirt, which made him look like a leather freak, so back we went to the AH and got him a green one

  3. And when we put it on him, he looked like this:

And now those arm claw bracelets look like Christmas tree lights! :D:D:D

Also I guess we could say he has on lederhosen!

Yep, definitely a Joustmini-game – they even called the quests Wave One, Wave Two, and Egg Wave. And the reward is a pet in the form of the gold/yellow (Player 1) or blue (Player 2) jouster from the arcade game.

Not to say that Tom Scud is wrong, it’s certainly hard to control; just like the original. (Actually worse because of the 3D, but you don’t have to have your lance higher than the enemy).

Well they came this weekend, and they sound GRRRRREAT!

After looking all over for some surround-sound 'phones to temorarily replace my Logitech sound surround speakers (live with elderly SIL) and being prepared to pay at least $79.00, we found them at Computergeeks.com for 29.95 (38.95 with S&H). They are model # ZM-RS6F USB

Without going into technical details (such as frequency response) let me just tell you that these 7.1 6-channel 'phones are a great way to listen to your WoW game. Everything comes in crystal clear and you have your choice of about 15 different “environments”. I am currently using “forest” which will give you an echo, but they have a wide range, as I said - even one called “padded cell”, which I thought was kinda cute and ahem appropriate!

There’s an EQ as well which takes into consideration your tastes as they range from treble to bass, or you can use default.

It is a USB plug-in and comes with an installation cd (which you will need to access your settings).

Cons: No mike (not a problem for me, but those of you who vent would miss that, I’m sure).

A little heavy on the head, but if you give yourself a break now and then, you can still hear the sounds after you lay your 'phones to the side.

No way to morph your voice, but again, I have no use for that function anyway.

This is neither pro nor con, depending on how you look at it, but they completely enclose the ears, so when you’re playing you won’t be able to hear the phone ring or your wife calling you to dinner.

Also, if she’s standing in front of you, nagging, if the sound’s up high enough, all you can do is read her lips (and her eyes!). Just smile, say “I love you too” (no matter what the subject is), and continue playing. (That’s what I do, anyway).

So with all that, I am VERY satisfied with the price and the quality, and, although I am not affiliated with them, I highly recommend them if price and quality are an issue.

Thanks
