Just totally random here: Does anyone else find the “THOOOM” sound that occurs when you click on the Launcher’s “Play” button as annoying as I do? It’s so-o-o-o freakin’ LOUD!!
It’s always been an obnoxious mechanic anyway. Cata has mostly been about eliminating those (e.g., weapon skills).
First thing I did when they introduced that launcher was mute that window. If you use Vista (or presumably anything similar), you can start the Launcher, go into the volume mixer, and drag the volume bar down and/or mute it completely. The OS will remember the setting for the window and apply it every time.
Remember DBM’s “Make archaeology more interesting” option, that gives you one of those Old God “whispers” when you find a keystone? I was doing some archaeology on my nelf hunter and he found a Highborne Scroll. The voice whispered, “Your courage will fail.”
A moment later, "<Roar of Courage fades> drifted across my screen…
:eek::eek:
Well, having maxed out my alchemy I decided to see what would be needed if I wanted to craft Vial of the Sands. It looks like in addition to the farmable mats, I’ll need about 28,000 gold. But meanwhile, I need to level my Archeology up to 450 so I can start digging in Uldum for the common item that has a chance of containing the recipe. So, this might take a while, especially after spending a good chunk of my gold to level alchemy in the first place…
Yes. A lot of time. Lots. Many, many lots. If **Daed **ever pokes his nose in here again, you can shake your fist at him: the lucky bastard got the recipe almost immediately.
Depending on your server’s economy, however, and the number of people with both max Archaeology and max Alchemy, it’s possible that you could finance your own drake by charging for combines for others.
What are prices like at 85? I know at level 80 10,000 was considered very high for most people; I personally couldn’t afford anything over 5000 most of the time.
It’s *intended *to be a massive gold sink, like the Tundra Travelers Mammoth (16k with the 20% Exalted discount) and the motorcycles (13k-18k+) were in Wrath.
ETA: Sniped by jayjay! Also keep in mind, BT, that the Vial is a two-person flying mount. The only other one of those in the game, AFAIK, is the one you get from Recruit-A-Friend, which means somebody putting out cashy monies for at least vanilla WoW plus two months of game time. Furthermore, 28k is what I paid for my Crimson Deathcharger, as an in-guild auction, which means it was way cheaper than it would have gone for on the AH.
Fair 'nuff, but I’m also interested in the general sense. I know you got 13 gold and change from level 80 quests, so daily income would be about 300+ if you did all your dailies. What are the new numbers at 85? I’ve only barely been paying attention to WoW news for the last couple months.
Yeah, I think my plan will be to work on my archeology first, to get to a point where I can dig in Uldum. If I can eventually get the recipe, I might be able to make enough off the combo fee to pay for some of the mats. Also, the goblin discount works for the vendor mats, so I can save about 5k gold by using my alt to buy those mats (assuming I can get a level 55 goblin to the vendor in Uldum…?)
ETA: The Kirin Tor rings were 6,000 for the starter ring, then an additional 1,000 for each upgrade so a total of 8,000 for the max level ones.
I think must have inflated that as my level went up…I remember seeing the achievement way back when and thinking it was impossibly expensive then. Which 1200g WAS at the time, for me. So I just kept pushing the price up in my head as my own in-game wealth grew.
I’ve been spending gold like water, including something like 14-20k powerleveling professions back at the start of Cata, and I’m currently up around 14k without even trying (and *with *spending money frequently). I want to say that on my faction and server, crafted BOE Epics are probably running around 2k-5k, and BOE Epic raid drops are probably about 5k-20k, if that helps.
I actually almost vendored the item that held the recipe because I didn’t know you could open it. First canopic jar I found had it in it. It has made me some gold, but nowhere near enough to finance an entire mount by itself. I have probably made around 10k from just combining it for other people, but I also don’t really push my services in trade chat or anything at this point. So, I suppose if you marketed yourself better it would be possible, it would just take a while. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of the volcanic drake form, so I’m in no rush to make mine.
What’s a fair price for Blacksmithing lvl 346 and 359 gear/weapons that uses chaos orbs?
How much if I use my chaos orbs?
How much if I use their chaos orbs (if they are able to include it with the other mats…not sure if it happens that way)?
