New WoW General Discussion Thread 6/8/10

Yep. Another option, since you said you’re in Deepholm now, is to do the quest chain for this chest:

Or, even easier, have a blacksmith make you this:

It’s a tanking chest, but the hit will be good for you even as a DPS warrior, and you can reforge the Parry into something useful. This is probably your easiest option, since all you need to do is buy the mats and find a blacksmith (ask in Trade in Stormwind).

Here’s a list of things that would be useful for you and where to get them (ignore anything that has Intellect or Spirit on it.) It looks like there are quite a few upgrades for you in quests in Hyjal and Vashj’ir.

Reforging didn’t work. The guy wouldn’t take intellect off. There were only 2 items in his menu: Spirit and Haste Rating, and I knew y’all wouldn’t want either of those taken off.

Q

Huh…that link still works for me Quasi. It’s updated too (e.g. - 1000 Needles is water filled). Try another time…maybe your browser timed out.

As for reforging, you cannot remove Intellect, Strength, Agility, nor Stamina…but you can remove Spirit. Here are the reforging rules, in detail.

Okay, I bought Ravencrest Breastplate of The Earthshaker. It isn’t in my Armory profile yet, but it was one of the items on your list of useful stuff, Info. Is that one okay?

Thanks

Q

This is Wolkie, right? Warriors don’t really need Spirit, I don’t think. You can reforge that into whatever it is you’re supposed to. (I never got a warrior that high, so I’m not sure. Strength? Stamina?)

Okay, I’ll try that, but that intellect is still a part of Wolkie even though we replaced that chestpiece, so that’s why I can’t reforge, correct?

Also, the thunder falls daily?

I guess it’s been so long since I’ve done any fishing that I’ve forgotten how it works. I equip my pole, but there isn’t a “fish” button. Did I remove a macro or something? He just stands there and nothing’s going on.

I thought you waited till you saw a fish and then target it, press the fish button and he casts.
We just never see any fish. All we do is kill the bandits that are at that house.

Thanks

Q

Yeah, spirit is useless to a warrior of any flavour. Strength is the primary stat

Your helm and feet have + parry, which is more of a tank stat (Prot Warr), so when you can, swap for some thing with Hit or Crit instead of parry

Okay. Will do.

Here’s an updated profile. http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/alexstrasza/wolkenlaufre/advanced

In my reputation, why doesn’t it show Stormwind and says I’m exalted with one faction? AFAIK, I’m not exalted with any faction yet.

Thanks

Q

I didn’t even think it was possible to GET to 82 without at least getting Exalted with your home faction. Are you sure the 1 Exalted rep isn’t Stormwind? Although I have to say, I’m absolutely astounded that you aren’t higher than Honored with anyone in the Alliance other than possibly Stormwind. You have been doing quests all this time, and not just killing things for xp, right?

Classic Alliance, I mean. I see you’re up into Revered with at least one of the Northrend Alliance factions.

Spirit is the only stat you can reforge away; so you can’t get rid of the Intellect by reforging.

No. You go to water, equip your pole, and push the fish button (this is on your professions page, or not if you don’t have it). You will then see your character cast into water and a bobber appear. You wait until the bobber dips and plays a splashing sound,a nd then you can open it like a loot box or downed enemy mob, and take your fish/junk.

Musta happened when I wasn’t looking, but yup, exalted with SW now, jayjay et.al!!!

So that means I get Art flying for 1k cheaper right?

And jay, that question you asked about questing vs killing?

Both.

I’m killing those converted heroes left and right for the loot they drop, but I am also questing more.

That didn’t used to be the case, though.

There was a time when I was so unsure of what I was doing that I concentrated on grinding.

Thanks to bandit for the fishing help. I’ll give it another shot tomorrow.

Thanks

Q

Oh, right–I’m sorry, Quasi. I had a derp moment there. I didn’t mean to get your hopes up about reforging. :frowning:

No probs, Info, and I learned something new, anyway.

Also a BIG question: Am I doing anything wrong if I’m the only player in a zone and I’m harvesting leather repeatdly by killing raps and bats?

I always stop if someone comes in, and if someone’s there, I ask if they ate questing and if they are, I leave and harvest someplace else.

Thanks

Q

BTW: Base price on leather is now 17 gold. Last night it was 11 and 14. When I looked my sales were still rthe lowest of the bunch at 15 and 18 respectively.

Grats on Cho’gall.

Thanks for the offer but no longer required thankfully I am now in a guild. I think the problem I was having was 1) I want somewhere to run heroics now but raid in the future and the 2 guilds I tried were both looking for people ready to raid now though that’s not how the advertised themselves. Oh well. The new guild is good so far though finding it a bit odd going from having 4 people online to over 40 and always a group running something.

You’re not doing anything wrong harvesting in any zone. It is considerate that you check whether the mobs you are killing are required by another player for a quest, but in no way is it required.

Hi Q. Nope it’s fine you’re paying your monthly subscription like they are if you want to farm mats for hours at time that’s up to you.

We had our first guild raid in months the other night, which felt pretty good even if we were all pretty rusty at this thing called raiding. On Halfus, our combo was… Slate (Shadow Nova), Whelps, and Time.

If it weren’t for a suboptimal pugged tank healer, I feel like we would’ve gotten to p2 easily (melee heavy comp, hpriest/druid/hpally). As it is, SFG, I’ll take your notes back to guild and see if that helps. We were having difficulty with the interrupts until the later tries.

I miss the days when resto druids could blanket the entire raid in hots, too. I’m seriously contemplating biting the bullet and picking up a disc spec, too. sigh

About time! (I kid, I kid… kind of). Cheers on finally getting him down. Good luck on Nef (it’s all about the hit-capped interrupts…). Heroic Halfus can be frustrating to learn, and it will all be about keeping up tanks for that first half of the fight (the rest is a joke).

We’ve been pulling Heroic Cho’gall, and he’s honestly the first boss in this tier that I’ve really felt like I’ve just been bashing my head against the wall. I think we need to make some serious adjustments to our strategy in order to get him down, but I only have a few ideas of where to make them. Hopefully, more reading/research will help me figure out what needs to change, but it’s never fun when you constantly wipe despite doing your job.

What’s wrong with Disc? I play a Disc priest in raids now, and if you liked being able to blanket raids with HoTs, it’s pretty much the same playstyle (blanket raids with shields), just with the mana management meta-game to also deal with. I’ve found Disc to be extremely overpowered on most fights, so not sure why you’re hesitant to go there. I am more than happy to help you get your bearings with the spec/playstyle if you wish.
