Joe
Should be quite a few of us online tonight, since we usually have guild events on Mondays.
Someone had asked about our bud SFG, and why she’s been MIA here.
I hope I’m not out of line when I tell y’all she’s had The Dope blocked at her work and has been otherwise busy.
Thanks
Q
Thanks Q! I was wondering.
If I ever disappear, that’s what’s happened to me. My workplace blocks almost everything; it’s hard to believe I still have access to the Dope (knocks on wood).
Yeah, every time the Dope has some sort of connection problem I have a mini panic attack, thinking IT’s finally gotten around to blocking it.
Haha…I am IT! (not much of one, though)
Everyone in this office could:
a) circumvent filtering software;
b) is too busy working to care about blocking sites;
c) is trusted enough to balance their working and surfing.
Boss keeps us in line with cookies. Works better than filtering software. Plus the machine traffic is routed through is just over in the server room. It’s the power we hold over the boss.
Make archaeology stoooooooop. At least it gets a bit better once you’re in Outlands. But I still can’t wait to get back to Northrend, I like it there much better. I am also now a Diggerer.
Grats to all.
Sticking to my rogue levelling plan a bit better for the last few nights and dinged 73, finally the dungeon queues are pretty quick (10-15 minutes). Got and equipped my first ‘fist’ weapon too and what a lovely looking piece of kit Profiler - World of Warcraft
Had an odd experience on the druid late last week though - queued for random as healer or dps and zoned in to notice I was as dps which I found odd usually it’s heals obviously. First pull and the dps priest starting healing until the tank told him to start the pew pew (with a grin), looks like 3 of us had queued as healers and got in the same run, what are the odds??
I had something like that experience once while leveling my holy pally. I was assigned to heal, but I noticed in the first few pulls that someone kept sniping my heals. Then I realized the priest was not in shadow form. Me: “Uh, priest, you realize I’m the healer right?” Him: :smack:
I’ve had that happen while leveling my (actual) Paladin tank - zoned in to the Monastery I think it was, and there was this bear druid charging off and pulling the first couple packs. I think I was tanking with a Ret build at the time (this was well before Cataclysm) so I just shrugged, turned off Righteous whatever, and equipped my two-hander. About halfway through the dungeon, the druid said, “oh hey I just noticed I’m queued as DPS for this dungeon”.
Thanks to Xander for inviting me into the BDL. I’m Grapecrush, currently level 27.
I haven’t been in a guild since Burning Crusade - is there a good site to help me understand all the new… stuff?
Joe
Can you be a bit more specific when you ask about the new stuff? Is it abilities\races\zones or what?
Actually, I was referring to new guild mechanics. It used to be simple, now, there’s guild levels, reputation, perks, all kind of new stuff…
Joe
Guild levels + your rep with the guild determine what guild perks you can use and what guild items you can buy.
Your guild gains levels as its members gain xp. There is a daily xp cap, I think, though I don’t know offhand what it is.
You gain guild rep by gaining rep, period. You can keep track of it in your usual rep pane.
Guild perks can be accessed by the Guild tab on your spellbook.
Guild items can be bought from a Guild Vendor. I know the one in Org is on the left side of the Warchief’s Hall (outside) in the Valley of Strength. Not sure about Stormwind’s vendor.
There is a Guild button on your micro-menu (where your Character, Quest Log, Achievements, etc. buttons are). You can get quick guild info there, including what perks and items are available.
I’m figuring it out, slowly.
Joe
There are Guild Achievements, too, but those aren’t things you can get for the guild yourself (unless you’re up to catching 50,000 fish). They usually require a guild push and some coordination (especially the dungeon and raid achievements).
Since I’m not a member of BDL, I have no idea what the attitude toward Guild Achievements is or what they’ve been doing in working toward them.
Finally got that bastard Nefarion down! woot! Bought the mount right away! It’s very cool. We spent a few minutes all mounted up in Orgrimmar.
Everyone agreed it was satisfying to get him down before the great 4.2 nerf. Hopefully I have everything I need for Firelands stuff. I’ll probably just stockpile honor, VP and JPs.
Grats! I assume you know this but after the patch the 4k limit to JPs is a hard cap so spend those VPs:

Price Changes
Anything that costs Valor will cost Justice. Anything that costs Conquest will cost Honor. Nothing else changes. If the piece required an item token before, it will require one after. You’ll have to down those bosses and win the tokens to purchase those pieces. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)
Justice/Valor Points Conversion/Reset
No, Justice isn’t removed. You’d want to spend Valor before 4.2 hits if you’re going to convert over the 4k cap. We have a blog post planned that goes into it a bit more we’ll be posting this week.
So… you’re going to get JP over the 4k cap?
No. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

My shammy hit 85! Woot! That’s my third healer at the cap, although my priest went to the dark side recently and doesn’t heal anymore. I had a crafted shield and 3100 JPs so I was able to upgrade my gear significantly right away – not quite to heroic minimum yet but at least I can do the level 85 regulars now. I figure if I can find a decent replacement for my heirloom cloak and my <200 ilvl boots, I’ll be in good shape.
Cloak is easy, the Guardians of Hyjal has a good one at honored. Boot is a bit more problematic. You get an epic one at the Earthen Ring at exalted, but that’ll be a while. If you’ve done some quests in Uldum, you get a decent one for the quest where you go bowling for gnomes. Otherwise you might as well get the crafted pvp one to tide you over.
