New WoW General Discussion Thread 6/8/10

Ranger Sallina has given me Steady Shot, but I can’t move it into my action bar, guys. In the spellbook for marksmanship its says “see your trainer”, but she acts like I already have it and asks if I have mastered steady shot yet?

I keep shooting at the training dummies with arcane shot, but that doesn’t work either.

Help?

Thanks

Quasi

(PS: we’re in Cairne, Blood Elf)

Quasi, if you’ve learned Steady Shot it will be in your spellbook on the Marksmanship tab. This is an important ability because it is your primary way of regenerating focus for your special abilities.

The spell icon looks like a feathered arrow - drag that to your toolbar and you should be able to use it against ememies. It has about a 1.5 second cast time.

PS Welcome to Cairne! If you want to join the SDMB guild “Burning Dog Legion” type /who burning dog to find one of us and we’ll send you an invite.

It won’t let me drag it, Skammie. That’s why I opened a ticket. I know what it’s used for , my friend, but this time I can’t drag it to my action bar. I’ve tried left clicking and sliding, right-clicking and sliding, but nothing works, and yes, it is in my spellbook. Let me try again…

Thanks

Nope. Nothing happens. Meanwhile I’ve moved onto other quests at the Falcon thing…

Tonight, I had an 11 year-old group with me. I didn’t find out he was 11 until we got to chatting back and forth. I told him of my age and my handicap, and after I did, I cut him loose with a “thank you and good luck”.

Guys, I don’t know what I should have done, and I hated to hurt the little guy’s feelings, but there was just too much of an age gap there, and it just didn’t feel right.

I’m a “pedal-phile” (cycling), not a pedophile, and I may have been completely wrong, but how can you know for sure?

Thanks,

Quasi

Hey Guys,

The problem from earlier has been fixed. It had to do with he “filters”.

So many probs have been solved this way of late. Why is that?

Thanks

In a lot of ways I think pugging became more rude when they introduced randoms with people from outside your server. If everyone is from the same sever there’s a good possibility of meeting up with them in the future. If I’m on Farstrider I’m unlikely to ever meet up again with that pally from Argent Dawn so I can be as rude as I want to be.

I have three tanks (all plate wearers) who are geared at 359 or better and I pretty much pug troll instances for the VPs and the goodie bag For the most part it is a pleasant experience but once in a while it’s extremely unpleasant. One of my pet peeves when tanking is having people tell me to go. I don’t mind if someone tells me they’re ready to start a pull but just typing “go” seems like a command. I hate it when people pull before I do and I hate it even more when they complain about aggro after they pull. If you pull a mob and everyone in the party is attacking a different target before I have aggro you shouldn’t be surprised to find your face getting chewed off.

If DPS pulls and doesn’t say ‘whoops, my bad, sorry everyone!’ vote kicking should commence immediately!

There’s no real problem with grouping with a child–just maybe watch your language and expect some childish behavior if things don’t go well.

I was roaming around Blasted Lands on my 58 worgen hunter today, trying to get my mining up to 275, when the sky turned red… yep, I Stood in the Fire. I tried to get my main down there in time, but was too late. Sadly none of my main toons has that achievement yet.

Woot woot! Did you know what it was? I was mining in Uldum and the sky turned red and I was like, WTF? And then it dawned on me that I was very quickly going to become BBQ!

Well, if standing in the fire gives you a buff (or something), how come in the tips section which runs at the bottom of the WoW section, it tells you not to do it?

Thanks

Ha! You get that achievement when Deathwing (that big bad dragon you see on the login screen) randomly shows up and fries up everything in the zone you’re in.

I actually didn’t die, or see DW. I just saw red and then everything was burning. I was on my horse riding around in between the flames. I got too close to some fire and took damage and got the achievement, but I didn’t actually die which was convenient.

“Don’t stand in the fire” as something NOT to do came first…some bosses breathe fire or throw fireballs or make lava spikes come up from the floor, so not standing in the fire is a good thing.

Blizzard made a joke with that achievement name, since you WANT to get the achievement…it’s a limited-time achievement by design. Once Deathwing becomes a raid boss (which should probably be the next patch) and gets killed the first time on each server, then he stops doing flybys and nobody will be able to get the achievement ever again.

I got that achievement with my Gnome warrior a couple of months ago when he was in Uldum.

At first I thought my graphics card was going wonky on me when everything turned bright red…

Very nice screen shot! I wish I had looked up when I got fried! (Twice for Yeticalayla, once for Destroyercon). Fourth time might be the charm.

Man, would you believe I STILL haven’t seen good ol’ DW on my achievement-farmer?

I wish I had known how to hide my UI back then, then it would have been better. Now I just hide my UI while I flirt with racial leaders.

I’ve gotten the achieve on three toons, on one DW event in Uldum. They last quite long.

My main was doing some business in Ramkahen town. The screen turned red and everything caught fire. I took some fire damage and died.

Alt-f4, log back in, grab an alt, and take the Orgrimmar portal to Uldum. Near instant death, since the portal target point was in deep flame.

Rinse, lather, repeat. Three dead toons in Uldum and three achieves. And a few dozen GP in repair bills, but worth it I think.

One of my other toons was flying around in Uldum and actually flew next to DW for a while. Strangely, you’re perfectly safe as long as you stay off the ground, even within melee distance of ol’ Deathie. Really, they should have programmed some kind of in-flight aggro behavior for him. One tail whip or wing buffet and you should be dismounted and stuck in combat until you either land in fire and burn up or just land from high enough and splat. Either should count for the achieve. But I guess if you already have the achieve or don’t care, you’d be annoyed to be unceremoniously slaughtered in mid-flight.

So? A giant freaking dragon laying waste to the countryside OUGHT to be annoying. (And DW doesn’t show up often enough for it to be a constant annoyance).
