New WoW General Discussion Thread 6/8/10

Okay, thanks, guys. I’ll give it a shot.

On another topic: Do any of you remember last year, when I was trying to destroy the Ocular, and I never could manage it, because I was in my mid-70’s?

Well, this afternoon I tackled it again, got it, and it opened up a whole nother chain for me, so right now I’m on that crown-looking thing doing that chain. Later on, I’ll go after the Halloween ones again. My eyes are seeing halos! (Not the game! :))

Where does one get creepy crates? Do they just pop up, or do you fish for them?

Thanks

Q

There’s a brief quest chain that starts in the Inn in your capital city. (For Horde it starts in the Valley of Strength inn…not sure where it is in Stormwind.) It’s a quick and fun quest chain. BTW, when you get to the end and have to choose which NPC to turn it in to, pick whichever one you like. You get the Crate either way.

In Stormwind, that quest is given by one of the NPCs outside the gates, near where you get the broom riding quest. I think it is called “A friend in need” or something similar to that. Really easy quest, some running around in the city, only one fight–down in the basement of the cathedral.

Oh, hell. I think I got one of those. Could I have vendored what was inside? No, right? I’d better have a look.

Thanks

Q

Totally agree. I went ahead and bought the 12-month for the free D3. I don’t expect that I’ll get tired of playing WoW in the next year, so why not get some extras at no additional cost?

Shooooweeee! That Icecrown chain is a long one isn’t it? Long but really not all that difficult for me any more. I knocked out 8 quests tonight with more to come.

Question about the GNERDS buff. It says when you put it on you, you get something when you have ten honorable kills. So I did that tonight, but really couldn’t tell that it did anything for us.

So , is that useful only on a battleground?

Thanks

Q

It’s not actually useful in any significant way. It makes a little sparklie thing over your head and lasts for about 5 minutes. If you get 10 honorable kills while under that effect, you get the GNERD Rage achievement, which is one of the steps towards getting “the Hallowed” as a title. Easiest way to get the achievment is to pop one of the candies in a battleground, then stick with the pack until you get credit for 10 HKs. You do not have to score the killing blow, or for that matter do any damage…just be alive and in the general vicinity when a Hordie gets killed.

Death negates the “buff”, so remember to eat another candy if you die before getting credit. Same thing if it wears off before you get credit.

Okay and oh well  Since we all know I don’t do much in the way of battles, they’d be useless to me.

One of these days, when it’s more than just me and jaejae in the guild and everyone knows everybody, maybe we can do some raiding together and I can learn a few things about it.

Been meaning to ask: Can I put one of my alts in tghe guild, just to pad the membership a bit?

Thanks

Q

PS: Bolding ability has left me again. I’m beginning to think maybe I have a virus that my anti virus service didn’t catch. Only way I can bold is to refresh the page. Funny, huh?

“Vandalizing Jotunheim”

I understand what I’m supposed to do, but right now I’m in SW, where I can supposedly acquire the banners needed to burn for the quest which originated in Icecrown. I’m right in the middle of that see-through blue field, but I don’t know where the banners are. Do they sparkle or what?

Can someone help me figure this out?

Thanks

Quasi

No they don’t sparkle though you’ll see the pointer turn into a cog when you mouse over them, they look like this: Vandalizing Jotunheim - Quest - World of Warcraft

We can test that later, if you want. Assuming that Jaejae’s been given the right permissions, I should be able to /ginvite any alts you get on. I may not be on till later tonight, though, after 9:30ish.

Hey martu

And that’s in Stormwind, right? Wowhead only had that one little screenshot and I wasn’t able to see a whole lot, and there were no comments. Is this a NEW quest? usually wowhead has a line of comments with coords, etc.

jay: It’s not a priority:)

Thanks

No Horesman’s mount yet, but I did get the Horseman’s Helm yesterday with the maniacal cackle on /use. And miracle of all, it dropped for my pally who not only can wear it, it’s actually an offspec upgrade. So I wandered around Org last night laughing like a madman for a while :).

I’ve done a little research on the creepy crates:

It has pretty good range…about 20 yards.

In a pack of critters, it sucks and KILLS one critter in it’s range every 10 seconds when unmounted, a little longer if you are mounted. Took it to the Glacier Penguins at the Argent Tournament grounds and each critter kill was around 10 seconds and it counted towards the Critter Kill Squad achievement. So you could just park your toon at a high count/respawn area of critters.

It also eats the larger critters too…deer, cows, horses…even Azshara Saplings are not safe!

It has even been reported eating Mr. Bigglesworth…KT was pissed…the player rewarded it with Mr. Hummel’s Old-Fashion Pet Biscuit.

I suggest that if you haven’t done the quest line to get this…just do it.

Now what would be cool, is if it ate other players’ companion pets (not permanently of course).

You can even do it on a cheapskate (level 20 cap) account, if you so choose.

This pleases me! Poor KT, all he wants is to have some [del]bitch[/del]liches.

Initial PTR reports of the Raid Finder are not so good. Mostly groups with a couple trolls in them that won’t listen and I guess the vote kick doesn’t work on the PTR.

I’d rather Blizzard find this out now, well before 4.3 hits live realms, so they can brainstorm at least some ideas to lessen/prevent this.

Sorry forgot to get back to you on this, no you need to be in Icecrown Vandalizing Jotunheim - Quest - World of Warcraft

It doesn’t work by design, or it doesn’t work because it’s broken? I hope that the ability to vote kick is at least an intended function, even if they have some bugs to work out.
