Well, Runestar…let me counter with the best ever back-to-back ZA/ZG pug runs I have ever been in…
I was 2nd in DPS at 17k, while the first in dps was at 20k; the tank came in at 16k(!) and the 3rd dps’r was a paltry 15k. The healer was pretty good keeping us alive with only 2 deaths…no wipes. Everyone knew the fights, and everyone kept complimenting each other on how smooth it was. We did ZG first and then after we gave the final boss the beatdown, I asked “Let’s do ZA!”…all four pugs agreed to stick around and do ZA, where we managed to beat all four bosses withing the 15 minute timer (the only problem is that I forgot to free the third scout, Norkani for the quest…d’oh!) but I did get the Bear-ly Made It achievement.
I had a tear in my eye when we wished each other a good night.
I’m leveling my first post-Cataclysm toon up past 40 and did 1K Needles last night. Wow, that speedbarge fire quest is annoying…you’re BELOW the sightline to where most of the fires’ cores are, so it’s very hard to aim the green marker for the extinguisher. I must have circled the damn boat ten times before I finally got my 15. The sinking of the pirate boats was a lot easier.
Took me about five tries to kill Grundig Darkcloud. That was frustrating. And then beating the windserpent into submission…I kept missing its dialogue, so I was just flabbergasted that it kept going down to 1hp and then suddenly jumping back to 10,000. Being in a hurry because Amazing Race was coming on didn’t help.
No…get your ass here to Cairne, and join our BDL guild. There are no officers here to burden you with responsibilities…just hop on and we could be crushing allies in 3v3 or 5v5, since you are almost capped with your ruthless gear.
Haven’t you heard? We are Caaaaaaaaaasssssssssuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllll.
You don’t even have to join our guild, just join our arena team :). Yeti will need a partner when I take a break to start playing the new Star Wars MMO.
I don’t WANNA be casual. =P I want to be elite. I’m discovering after fifteen years of muds and MMOs that the only way I can be satisfied is by starting my own show. =P
I got in a pug on saturday night that was doing 25man Ulduar (all the hardmodes) for the achievement/mount. It made me realize two things:
I remembered that Ulduar is, in fact, the most awesome raid ever. I loved it when it was the current content, and going in this weekend made me remember how much i loved pretty much every fight in there (especially yogg saron which i contend is the best boss fight ever… though admitedly i did not play during vanilla).
My proudest moment in WoW is when my guild killed Yogg Saron when it was current. TOC may have been released, but by no means did we out gear the place when we cleared it. We were a 10 man guild. The group this weekend was doing 25, and we had about 14 people and weren’t able to get it on saturday night (mind you with a group that easily did all the hardmodes up until then). We did go back on sunday with about 18-20 peeps and clear it after one more wipe. This just reinforced how proud i am of my orignal yogg kill, when it took some serious concentration for 20 nicely geared 85’s to defeat that boss.
Also, i had never seen the Algalon fight before… damn that was awesome!! Definitely one of the “prettiest” fights in the game. Cool lore & sweet animation.
So true. It was a seriously fun fight for my 10-man group as well, and we also killed it just before ToC (or perhaps one of the early weeks when only one or two bosses were available in ToC. Of course, I wasn’t there for the first kill… but it still doesn’t change how awesome I thought the fight was. Going back and doing 1-light at the end of Wrath was pretty awesome too, even with 25-man ICC gear.
So many fun fights in there… loved Iron Council (with the changes depending on kill order), loved loved loved Mimiron (even while hating it while learning), really enjoyed Freya’s entire zone… just the pinnacle of WoW raiding for me.
I don’t understand, Bosstone. We all link other people to stuff. Is it just not ever okay to create a hyperlink to anywhere here? I checked it, no problem for me.
Generally speaking, if someone’s offering to do anything for you involving World of Warcraft and gold, it’s A) most likely against Blizzard’s terms and conditions, and B) most likely a scam to try to gain access to your computer and thus to your WoW account. While some services may be on the level, as much as any black market service can be, it’s better to just not tempt fate.
If you want to move a bunch of gold from Alexstrasza to Cairne, the best thing to do is:
Make a new character on Alex.
Mail the gold from Wolkie to it.
Pay Blizzard for a server transfer to Cairne for that new character.
Mail the gold from the transferred character to the one you’re playing on Cairne.
Hell, if you want gold on Cairne I’ll give it to you. I never really play any more, and don’t plan on playing in MoP, and have like 70k. Give me a toon name and the amount you think you’ll need and you’ll be “in the money”.
It looks like all that website does is try to match people who want to move gold from server A to server B with people who want to move gold from server B to server A, and have them trade the gold with each other on each server.
You’re probably not risking your account security doing it that way, but you could end up being out of your gold. If you send are your gold to some stranger on server A what guarantee do you have that he will send his to you on server B?
Bosstone’s method is the traditional and preferred way to move gold between servers - create a mule character and pay to have it moved. It will cost real $ for the transfer.
It will also mean that you’ll need to level your mule toon to at least level 10, and there are restrictions on how much gold you can transfer from one server to another based on level. I don’t know what they are these days, but a level 10 would definitely have a significantly lower cap than a level 85.
Oh, that’s right. I’d forgotten about the restrictions.
Honestly, I didn’t look closely at the website. I saw “transfer,” “gold,” and “WoW,” and clicked out instantly. I take a “they can’t get you if you never expose yourself” approach to third party services.
Mimiron hardmode was frighteningly fun, but we never downed it, even after we had ICC-geared toons. Yeah, we were that bad. No actually, a lot of times, it was logistical: if you don’t get a certain mix of ranged and melee dps, you can’t win, period. And in a 10-man, one character going down may unbalance the DPS enough that you can’t win, and Lord knows how many times that happened. (Canonical example: too little rdps going in, or too much of it dying, and you can’t down the head part of the combined boss in phase 4 fast enough to meet the “within 10 seconds of each other” requirement. Quoting WoWWiki’s strat writeup, “Dps should be split up between the 3 sections. **All sections need to die within 10 seconds, else they respawn. Melee cannot reach the aerial command unit. **”)
So a raid with too little rdps going in has very little room for error.
