No, Quasi…he can give you 1K gold no problem. The limits they’re talking about are the limits that you’d have if you tried to load a toon up and transfer it to Cairne from Alex.
Speaking of failed achievements, and Mimiron, that brings up my saddest moment in WoW to date, I think. I did get the hard-mode achievement for the drake, but on the last lockout prior to the removal of the “no deaths” achievement I got in a group going for it.
We rocked the place, and got to Mimiron with no boss deaths yet.
And then, in Phase 4, we either got our assignments crossed or the healer didn’t realize what was going to happen. I was on my hunter, and assigned to the head. During Phase 3, when all ranged was on the head, our Warlock had threat (and thus needed the heals). But in Phase 4 he was on the body, so I ended up top threat on the head. Didn’t get heals, died, and everybody failed to get their “Champion of Ulduar” title… ![]()
No worries - I’ll try to send it tonight, but it might be a few days, depending on when I get back in game.
I’ve had more success with pugs than I have had problems as of late. Still, the number of people who are verbally abusive is disturbing at times. I posted on the WoW boards that people shouldn’t abuse tanks or healers and I was astonished by many of the replies. There are a lot of people who are of the opinion that tanks/healers need to grow a thicker skin because name calling is just part of tanking/healing. I was floored. Nobody should have to put up with verbal abuse while they’re playing a game for fun! For those of you DPSers who might be concerned that I didn’t mention you, my apologies. While I do see DPS get abuse from time to time it is the tank/healer who I see verbally abused more often than not. Plus, I’m usually tanking or healing. I hardly ever DPS unless I’m in a guild run. (I have a pally, warrior and a DK tank each at 85.) Because of some nasty people, I have come up with a few rules I use when I’m tanking.
#1. I will not take abuse from anyone in my group nor will I allow people in my group to abuse others. I will flat out refuse to move forward or to heal anyone while the offender is still in the group. This is especially true if I just zoned in. I won’t take a 30 minute abandon group penalty because someone is a jerk. The offender can either quit being a jerk, quit group or they can kick me. I’m a tank, I can que up in 5 seconds.
#2. In troll instances, I will check the tank’s gear to make sure he’s not wearing pvp gear. If he’s in pvp gear I will not heal or move forward until he changes gear, leaves the group or I am kicked.
So far I’ve only been kicked from one group after I refused to heal after taking verbal abuse. It took them about 10 minutes to kick me for some reason. But in the meanwhile I simply went and did a few dailies. In some cases, I’ve had others in my PUG stick up for me or others when they start to cause trouble by name calling.
I still have Rasz’s 128k in a guild bank alt too…
We should buy everyone in BDL who has played in the last month a … something. Or something.
I worked Quasimodem up to level 6 earlier this evening, and I have to say again, the training y’all gave me helped immensely in levelling him that quickly.
Thanks!

Grats! Q
I took a break from the game as it had become a bit of a chore to be honest, with about 50% of random BGs decent and 1 in 3 TB battles a nightmare it was getting a grind. Came back this week and made a big jump - started a new toon on a new RP-PvP server so that’s no money or hierlooms for me. Played two evenings straight so the change was obviously good for me, the little bits of RP I am seeing here and there have been a nice touch. I intend to join in at some point but testing the water for now (thanking NPCs, walking in towns) and working on a back story to expose via the MyRolePlayer addon.
My only observation so far is…I miss Netherweave bags /sigh
Regarding #1, if you want to refuse to move on because someone is being verbably abusive, that is your perogative and I can’t argue with you.
Regarding #2, if you are kicking people because of gear, i have a problem. If you want to be selective about that type of thing then run with your guild or friends, not the dungeon finder. And btw, i’m a Druid tank that currently wears 3 peices of Ruthless gear, and there are countless random pugs from my battle group that are riding around on their ZA Timer bear mount thanks to me.
Grats on starting anew. I’ve done that before and it’s certainly refreshing. The very first toon I created got the immense help of a 2g donation from a friend. And that got me through the first 15 levels. now 2g is nothing and making it with mining or herbalism is so easy ![]()
Though you can use heirlooms which are Bound-to-Account. If you open an ingame mail and type in your other-realm-toon-name it will try and make sure it goes to the right one (I think it does something like common-name@other-realm) I know I’ve passed heirloom gear from horde to alliance this way. (Because this was before the model of the item changed, and I liked having a bone-bow on my aliiance toon) And I’m certain I’ve done it across realms too. So good luck and enjoy WoW again!
I am almost certain that you can’t send heirlooms across realms, though you can definitely send them across factions on the same realm. If you know differently, please post a link to a Blizzard page where it says you can do this, and you will make me very happy. ![]()
Nope. No Cross-Realm mail even for BoA items. (Blue post from October 2011) They say they’re working on it, though.
Hey guys, I’ve noticed something I think is new (well, new to me, anyway): When I was playing my hunter, Quasimodem on Cairne last evening, whenever I’d check directions, he’d pull out a small map and look at it.
Also, when in combat, using a staff (don’t know how it is with a sword) I’d see him jump back out of a strike zone.
Never noticed this before - is it new?
Thanks
Q
PS: I thought Hunters got pets?
The map thing is new–they added it in the last patch.
The jump-back thing is a Hunter ability called “Disengage.” You probably hit it by accident. It helps you get out of combat.
Yes, hunters do get pets. In fact they start with them now, I believe. Check your spell book for something like “Summon pet.” I’m not sure if they start summoned, or maybe yours did but it got killed very quickly? Not sure.
info, he doesn’t appear on the start picture with a pet, and I don’t have a “summon pet” button. Maybe after a certain level?
Also, I’ve let him fight without assistance from me and he does the jump-back thing himself?
Thanks
Quasi
Never mind. I wasn’t in Beast Mastery!
Q
Never mind again. “You do not have a pet to summon”
Q
Also, to Jas09 thanks for the g’s!
Q
Look in your spellbook. There should be a “Summon Pet” ability and a “Revive Pet” ability. If you started out with a pet and it died fighting, you’ll need to Revive it. You can do that before lvl 10, although you can’t control your pet until lvl 10.
Same thing, jay. He makes the “revive” motion, but I get the same message above. Also no pet tab in spellbook.
