I’m surprised if you didn’t start with a pet, Quasi. When I started my Worgen hunter it came with a pet, although you don’t really have any control over it for the first 10 levels or so. What race is your hunter on Cairne again? Blood Elf?
I opened a ticket, just in case. Also still losing my auto-loot function on all toons.
Q
He’s a level 7 blood elf hunter. He should have started with a dragonhawk pet. Hmm, interesting. I can’t look at anything else because you can’t see a character’s Armory page at less than level 10, but I can’t think of any reason why he doesn’t have a pet.
I’m going to go start a level 1 hunter and see if I can figure it out.
Okay, I started a level 1 hunter and headed out to get his pet killed. Here’s what I found:
- He did start with a pet, a dragonhawk (he’s a blood elf).
- If you look at your start screen (the one where you pick the character to play), the pet shows up in the picture even if it’s dead.
- You need to use “Revive Pet” which is the second skill in your Beast Mastery tab to revive a dead pet. If this doesn’t work, try using “Call Pet” (which is the whistle). Sometimes you can lose track of your pet and it despawns–you can’t revive it if it’s not dead.
Good luck!
Blood Elf, Skammie. GM says he was created before CAT (2010) and therefor no pet till levem 10 or roll him again.
Also, I seem to have lost my wow launcher file. I can sign in as Admin but no launcher file?
Sorry I seem to be a lot of trouble today. The ADMIN sign in is supposed to fix auto loot
Q
Your best bet may be to just delete the current Quasimodem and create a new one. There were a LOT of changes made with Cata and you may be better off starting new and learning things as they stand now. Seven levels really isn’t that huge an amount to make up.
You don’t have “launcher.exe” in your World of Warcraft folder? You should be able to just create a shortcut and put it on your desktop.
For the autoloot problem, have you checked out your interface options? If you click the little computer icon in the menu bar in-game, you should get a menu with things like “video”, “audio”, “interface”, etc. Click on “interface”, then “controls”. Go down to the last checkbox on that tab and make sure it’s checked. If it’s not, check it.
I found it, but it only brings up the game “Play” screen, nd ther is nothing at the top under OPTIONS. Gotta go for a while. D wants to shop for groceries.
back soon.
Thanks again, everyone!
Quasi
No, the options won’t be under the launcher itself. You need to log into a toon first. Then click the menu icon (the little computer).
Interesting! I wouldn’t have thought of that, but it makes sense. My worgen (obviously) was rolled after Cata.
Did that. which one of the optiond do I choose, jay? I also thought to look in the WTF folder, but windows says it cannot open.
Thanks
Q
I ran REPAIR just now, y’all, and I’m fixin’
to log back in. Maybe that helped? Also gonna run registry fix.
Q
Okay, works again so far. Someone named Zorene is afflicting him with mind vision. I need to read up on that!
Thanks
Q
Registry repair found… 375! errors and all were fixed. One of them was WTF.
Sorry for “hogging” the thread, guys! I don’t know if this is an infraction, but if it isn’t, then I guess I’m in luck, 'cause I’m pretty sure I’ve broken all that can be!
We’re good with Quasi the hunter right now, but jay? I sure hate to start him over because we’re level 7 right now and I can get him to 10 tonight, I think. Most of my alts were started on Cat, so do you think it would be okay just to go from here?
Thanks!
Q
I would just continue from where you are, I think. It is a bit odd to have a character below level 10 you started before Cata, since so much changed, but once you hit 10 it should all straighten out. The only think you might have to do is pull some spells out from your spell book and on to your action bar.
And you’re quite welcome for the gold, not like I’m doing anything with it. ![]()
You guys are just great! This game has been the best therapy for this friggin’ disease, because it makes me think hard and fast.
I know I’ve already thanked y’all to death, but your advice here has also helped me with Fable III, which I don’t mention much, because it’s not WoW!
Thanks!
Q
That’s absolutely fine, Quasi. I sometimes forget that what would be pretty easy for me wouldn’t be for you, so if I suggest something that you think you might not be able to do, just tell me. ![]()
Thank you, my friend!
Q
What a great help you have been to “Da’ Wolk’” and me in the last couple of weeks, and I wanted to come to the thread and thank you very much for your patience with us.
You and Nouveau (I hope I got that right!) have suddenly made this game less of a chore and much more fun!
I have good days and bad ones with this friggin’ disease, but you’ve joined “Knights Who Say ‘Ja’” and stayed with me throughout the HP quests and man, it has been FUN!
I needed to mention this here, because what Rik does for me and Wolkie, may have taken a tenth of the time with any other toon he wanted to help!
Same with jayjay and ALL you rockin’ cats! If I were to list all of you, it would take all night, but if your feelings are hurt, let me know and I’ll get started. I mean it.
Your pal,
Quasi
Huh? A new animation for… map-reading? I don’t know what Blizzard is using for prioritizing their maintenance efforts, but IMHO they’re doing it wrong.
Well, technically, it helps you get out of melee. You’re still in combat, unless you disengage off a tall cliff or high building. Then, you die and you’re out of combat.:smack:
Yeah. In general, if you’re a hunter and have no pet, do the following in order:
[ol]
[li]Check your unit frames. If your pet is summoned someplace, its unit frame will be just below yours. If your pet is not with you but still present (unit frame exists), either move to it until it’s with you (it may have been stuck on terrain or something) or move away from it until it despawns and then go on to step 2 below[/li][li]If you have no pet unit frame, use “Summon Pet N” to summon it. At low levels, there is no “N” which is a pet number; you just have one pet. At higher levels, you will have up to 5 pets available, with different summon spells for each.[/li][li]If your pet is dead (unit frame shows it’s dead, or you try to summon it and you get a “Your pet is dead” error), use Resurrect Pet to bring it back.[/li][li]If these don’t work… maybe you put all your pets into the Stables? You can only summon pets in active Summon Pet spell slots. Pets in Stables aren’t available until you visit the Stablekeeper and switch them out.[/li][/ol]
