Glad I could help!
Guys (and Ladies)
You know how every once in a while Playboy will feature a "The Women Of…, such as “The Women Of Huddle House”, etc.
Well, I was thinking that some of our ladies, even though they’re toons, might look pretty damn good in one of those Playboy special features.
Just as long as they don’t feature any of the males with that cleft palate face!
What do y’all think?
Thanks

'404 Not Found" is the message I get when I go to the Auctioneer homepage and try to download. Any ideas on what I can do next?
Thanks

I tried again for “The Worldbreaker” quest last night. Took the portal to the Twilight Highlands, flew up to the Maw of Madness and into its mouth. Dismounted, started attacking the oozes and eventually died to the Blood of Iso’rath again.
Appeared at the Maelstrom and…“disconnected from server” again. Logged back in, and again Thrall was missing from the Maelstrom.
So I hearthstoned back to Ogrimarr, portalled back to the Twilight Highlands, flew back to the Maw of Madness, fought the oozes, died again, respawned at the Maelstrom and, sure enough (not that I was surprised at this point), “disconnected from server”. Logged back in and no Thrall.
Definitely some Language from me at this point. I did a quick search on the in-game help, and there actually was a Blizzard note covering this issue – it matched the one earlier in this thread, saying that you could restart the quest by dying to the oozes. Well, since all that had gotten me was a couple more disconnects, I opened a GM ticket. I described what had happened, and included a reference to the Blizzard issue (#36610).
After submitting the ticket, my hearthstone still had 10+ minutes to go on its cooldown. I decided to try the “Character stuck” button. I clicked on the ‘die and respawn at the nearest graveyard’, died, and…respawned at the Maelstrom, exactly where I’d been.
Additional Language from me; but then I turned around, and there was Thrall! He had the yellow exclamation point over his head, so I held my breath, clicked on him, and…got the quest. No disconnect this time!
So while the quest played out, I edited my ticket to include this little additional tidbit of information. I kept on playing, and about 20 minutes later got contacted by a Blizzard GM. We had a pleasant chat, and he told me that they were aware of the repeated disconnect issue and were working on it, but he was glad I’d discovered a way to get Thrall back from his ‘coffee break’, as he put it.
So I guess the issue is resolved - at least for me. Hopefully Blizzard can fix the bug before too many others have the problem.
I queued up for a random Dragon Soul heroic yesterday afternoon as a tank with my BE paladin; I joined a group that was already in the End Time instance. I guess their previous tank had bailed on them after they’d wiped on the Echo of Tyrande.
We had myself, a BE retribution paladin, a BE priest, a BE Warlock, and a Troll Hunter.
Holy Flying Spaghetti monster, did we struggle. I know I’m still learning as a tank, but man, we took forever. We wiped twice against Tyrande before finishing her off. Then we wiped three times against Sylvanas before finishing her, and twice against Murozond before finishing him. We did much better against Murozond once I realized that I should face him towards the wall, and insist that everyone else stay to his sides. Sometimes I have to remind myself as a beginning tank that there are times when I need to stay in place and not move things around.
Essentially, I don’t think we had enough DPS to burn the bosses down fast enough. We had to break through Sylvanas’ ring of ghouls 4 times before finishing her – the other times I’d fought her I’d only had to fight the ghouls twice. I looked at Recount once, and I was topping the DPS chart - just barely ahead of the other paladin and the warlock, but still, that’s never a good sign when I’m only putting out 11K.
At one point when we were resting up after one of our Sylvanas wipes I took a peek at the other paladin’s gear. She had a lot of 378 and 365 gear, but almost none of it was gemmed - most of the slots were empty. I don’t know if it was a cash flow issue or what with her, but gosh, any gem, even if it’s not the best, is better than no gemming at all. Everyone in the group was very nice and pleasant, but what a grind!
I’ve noticed a LOT of undergeared ineptness in DPS in random groups lately.
We had a 'lock in End Time last night who was pulling 3.4k :smack:
Fortunately we were doing partial guild runs, so our tank was pulling 17k and I was pulling 22k or so (hooray for Ruthless).
The best one, though? The guy who was clearly offspec in Arathi Basin. Playing a Paladin, at level 85, with 57,000 hp because he was wearing mostly WoLK gear. Jesus, boy, get your guildie blacksmith to whip up some vicious pyrium.
Well, the opportunity to save a group and pull out a tough run can be fun; while I don’t tank, I’d imagine the emotional payoff of being the hero in such a challenging set of circumstances would be awesome.
Ya know, I’ve heard random strangers boast that these fights were loot-pinata faceroll-fests, but truly, they don’t look that simple to me. There are definitely some mechanics, and unless you seriously overgear them, I don’t see just powering through them.
I guess HC raiders would find them easy.
Ah. The latter seems to be a universal dragon-fighting tactic: tank him facing a wall and away from the party; the rest of the party should be at the dragon’s flanks and sides, AND WELL AWAY FROM THE TAIL (as Onyxian tail-swipes illustrated repeatedly.)
Is there a dragon fight where this isn’t true? I can’t think of any off the top of my head.
I wonder if the rest of the party was gaming their ilvl? Well, maybe not. You can get adequate gear and still have problems with rotation, spec, or (more subtly) reforge. Still, I would definitely be worried if you’re on top of the DPS parade as tank, and with only 11K. The per-member success dps threshold back in the heroic original Cataclysm 5-mans was about 10k each, right?
Yeah, that’s unfortunate. But kudos to you for sticking with it. I hope those players see the value in gemming, enchanting, and reforging appropriately. They must have left 2-4kdps on the table by not doing that. I mean really, why else have in-game gold if not for that?
I think Malygos doesn’t have a tail swipe. (Might be the dude in Ulduar instead).
True, it isn’t hard to at least get passingly acceptable gear, but even if that player were guilded, if it’s a vanity guild, there may not be adequate profession support for that.
<boast>
For myself, I’m mostly self-sufficient for professions. I’m living the trade-alt life. I have almost all max skill alts for all production professions, so if I need a belt buckle, my BS alt can make it.
</boast>
But it was a lot of effort. Not everyone can waste the time, or can get into a real guild.
But Wrath gear? Srsly? He’d have been better off in Cataclysm PvE quest greens and blues. If you’re just scumming honor for your lvl 85 PvP gear, you’ll still do better in correct-level PvE stuff than gruesomely undergear PvP stuff.
This is as good a place as any to ask: I was told 17k was the minimum you should be doing for LFR Dragon Soul. Opinions?
This is what my add-on list looks like.
Also, one of these is keeping my bags from showing in-game. Note that “load out of date add-ons” isn’t checked.
When I tried to download straight from the site, I got a choice of auctioneer suite, and auctioneer. I tried them both, got the zip and extracted them. Also I get asked “open” or save to file". Open means content won’t be saved. Tried that twice both ways as well.
Before I tried this again, I disabled all auctioneer content. This shows everything that should have downloaded, and as you can see, it still shows out of date.
Is there anything else I can try or can someone walk me through downloading auctioneer correctly?
Thanks

Heh, I made myself self-sufficient. One main, Three alts: blacksmith/enchant, mine/skin, alchemy/herbal, leatherworking/herbal.
I have no idea what he was trying to do–it was Wrath PvE gear in some slots.
My guess was “hey, I haven’t used my offspec for a while, lemme just dust off whatever shit I have for that and hit a BG.”
I pull about 22k in HoT heroics, I was pulling 17k-19k in the last LFR I did, I was in the bottom half of the DPS, and we facerolled the first four bosses with no wipes and barely any strat talk except for calling the blobs.
Quasi,
How are you installing your add-ons? If you are using the Curse Client, then you can’t install the Auctioneer beta releases, because they are available only from the Auctioneer site. You’ll need to download it manually and unzip it into the correct folder.
If you download the zip file and then open it, you’ll see it contains a number of folders. You need to copy all of those folders to the ‘addons’ folder where you have WoW installed. For me, that’s ‘C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft\Interface\addons’. Just copy and replace the existing folders, and you should be good to go.
Has setting buyouts on the AH gone out of style? I was looking to buy my bank alt some big bags and there was ONE auction in 3 pages that had a buyout set.
Not as far as I know, but I’m always baffled when I see an auction on the AH without a buyout price.
I’m not using client, Suburban Plankton, but I’m leaving that whole issue for now and doing it the way Oakie does it: check the item(s) in AH, and price accordingly.
BTW, the culprit with my bags was Bartender 4. I found this out by trial and error.
Thanks

Quasi, if your computer can support running a web-browser while you play WoW, there’s an even better solution. The website theunderminejournal.com provides a by realm and faction roll-up of recent auction history. You can browse by professions (e.g. see what hides are selling well), see weekly price trends, and even see a roll-up of the material costs for a crafted item.
here’s the Horde side auction stats for Cairne.
