Sound Quality goes from low to high, and the game’s telling me to “Decrease to improve performance”.
Now, in addition to the sudden cessation of music, I’ve noticed a “crackling” in the music as well.
I DO run fishing buddy, but haven’t looked at the settings. I’ll do that. With me it’s mostly visual anyway. I just look for the yellow dot and go there if I haven’t already fished it.
Learned something else that may be useful for ya, Quasi. Not sure if this is a recent change or not, but I noticed when I am questing in the pvp side of TB, there is now a little Alliance Shield emblem on the minimap at the top right of the screen. Clicking it gives an option to leave TB…choosing that option returns you to wherever your hearth stone is set…it is essentially a free hearth.
For anybody looking for a bit of a challenge, check out The Ironman Challenge. In a nutshell, the ‘challenge’ is to level a toon from 1-85 following these simple rules:
[ol]
[li]No Heirloom gear[/li][li]Only White or Grey gear is allowed[/li][li]No enhancements to gear --unless a class ability[/li][li]No External Buffs --no food/item buffs or buffs from other players, but your class ability buffs are permitted[/li][li]No Potions/Flasks/Elixirs --unless needed for questing[/li][li]No Talents/Pet Talents/Specialization. No Glyphs[/li][li]No Guilds (Unless its a level 1 guild designed for this challenge)[/li][li]No groups[/li][li]No Dungeons/Raids[/li][li]No Battlegrounds/Arenas[/li][li]No professions or secondary skills - except for first aid.[/li][li]No add-ons that assist in leveling/combat.[/li][li]No sending gold or items from other toons. (bank alts for the specific challenger are okay)[/li][li]No RAF (Obvious, right?)[/li][li]THE BIG ONE: If you die, that character is out of the challenge[/li][/ol]
As of yesterday, the leaders in the clubhouse are:
This is a player-organized, just-for-fun ‘event’, but it puts a whole new spin on the game when you approach it from the perspective of “death means DEATH”. I just rolled a new toon (an Undead Priest) last night to give it a try, and I’ve gotten all the way to Level 8 without any close calls yet
I would think it would be difficult to avoid #4 - External Buffs. Many’s the time when my character was just standing around, only to be hit by a buff from a passing druid/mage/cleric/paladin.
Although I presume that you could right-click on the buff and get rid of it immediately.
And I can’t access those boards from here at work. Does the ‘no food’ mean no food at all (not even eating/drinking to heal yourself up), or just no food that gives you one of those ‘well fed’ buffs?
I’m reading it as no food buffs, not no food in general.
I know at least one person made it to 80 in Wrath without dying, although I don’t know if you can make it to 85 depending on how you view the action in a particular Twilight Highlands quest. I suppose you could just skip that quest though.
‘No food buffs’ refers to food/drink that gives you a buff in addition to health/mana regeneration. Plain old ‘regular’ food is fine.
As far as the ‘no buffs’ rule goes, there’s some leeway allowed for random strangers throwing a buff on you, as that obviously can’t be avoided. As long as you cancel the buff as soon as you’re aware of it, that’s considered to be within the spirit of the rules, so that’s fine.
I didn’t click on the WoW forum item to see if there were any other rules or provisos, but one thing struck me pretty much immediately. You could roll up a new toon, grind up a few levels and a teensy tiny grubstake, and VERY carefully (perhaps by recruiting a high-level bodyguard or three) make your way to your capital.. and spend the next several years leveling up by doing in-town tradeskill dailies (once you’ve trained a tradeskill or two, I mean).
So, is the “contest” a race? or is lollygagging along in the perfect non-PvP-flagged safety of Orgrimmar or Stormwind a viable (and kind of cheap) approach?
I think if you’re doing this “challenge”, you should form a guild called “Don’t buff me bro!” as fair warning to all those would-be-helpful do-gooders.
Oh, wait, this is WoW. Trolls (not the tall greenish kind) would make a point of tossing buffs at you if you asked them politely not to.
There’s another low-level PVP quest offered near the Venture Bay docks in Grizzly. Asking for some solvent. It is in the middle boat at the dock in the captain’s quarters. It will bind itself to you and I’ve been meaning to ask: is that a bad thing?
Sometimes all 3 Silkas (the horses and the Gryph-all are named Silka, since they are all 3 incarnations of the same animal.) seem to run and/or fly faster than other times. I can tell this by looking at the mini-map. I don’t have any buffs which allow for this, so is it the game running better than normal?
I just realized that Rule 11 (No professions except First Aid) would put a serious crimp on that. I think all the in-town dailies are tradeskill, and I just realized that of all the tradeskills, only First Aid doesn’t have a daily. Oh, well, brilliant idea foiled.
That pvp quest, if I remember correctly, basically will attach the solvent to you for a short time, during which you have to run back to the questgiver without being killed. If you die, you fail the quest, but can start over. Not really sure it is worth doing unless you are going for an achievement for completing all of those quests or something…and I don’t know if there is such an achievement.
Are your mounts moving faster when you are in a group or raid? Some classes have buffs that will give increased mount speed…I know paladins have one that will do that.
The mounts move quickly just when I’m solo. That pvp is to get me more hp for better gear.
Also can someone help me with “A friendly chat”? I know that little farger is on the docks, but what’s he near? Is he in a boat already. Is he underwater? Been to Wowhead, but was unable to find him, and the last time I was there I fell in, and there was NO way to get out unless I hearthed. so that’s what I had to do.
Trying to create a macro for Wolkie’s new throwing axe. Here’s a link I am trying to use: http://macros.wowmatrix.com/warrior-macros/general.html (the last item: One button pull). Is this what I’m supposed to put in that big macro box?
I had been using a gun, but I’m having trouble making the macro for the axe.
Also, what do the red dots in the upper right hand corner of all the actions mean?
This means "If I have a Bow, Gun, or Crossbow equipped, then ‘Shoot’; and if I have a ‘Thrown Weapon’ equipped, cast ‘Throw’, so that you can use a single button for whatever type of ranged weapon you have.
I’m not sure what the red dots are that you’re referring to, but it sounds familiar…I know that I *know *what they are; I’m just not recalling it off-hand. Can you give a bit more detail?
Yeah, I have all that, but maybe I’ve chosen the wrong icon, because it USED to be the icon for the gun. I thought I had everything right when instead of “Shoot”, I typed in “THROW” as the command, but then I got the message that it must be a “ranged” weapon.
This is the kind of shit that gets me confused: code. I’ve looked all over the net on how to create WoW macros, but I can’t even understand the instructions!
About the dots: I don’t know. I was walking on water when I tried to go into attack mode in the “Rattling Their Cages” daily, but in addition to the dots, some of my actions were not lit up, so I didn’t attack. When I pulled away and rode Silka down the river on top of the water, those dots eventually disappeared.
First chance I got, I put the gun back where the throwing axe was (on character screen), and all was hunky dory from there on out.
If you’re talking about what I think you’re talking about, the red dots mean that the ability is targeted on something you can use it on, but your target is out of range. It’ll turn grey when you are in range.
Let me take a look at my setup when I get home tonight; I make heavy use of macros and I have one set up to do just what you’re trying to do. Once I see exactly how mine is configured, I can help you out.
