Yup, good times. Pretty fun fight and solid progress throughout by tweaking little things here and there.
Is arcane as boring as it looks? 87% of your damage was Arcane Blast! And I see a few for other arcane magi logs where it’s more like 95%!
Also it’s not really fair comparing those of us running around killing adds with the guys that get to hammer on the debuffed boss the whole fight. 
Respecced to SV, am happy. DPS boost put me at 3rd place in LFR yesterday. Not spectacular by any means, but I’m competitive.
Yeah, SV is both better at the top end and, in my experience, more forgiving of a shot priority than MM. I hear Beast Mastery is even viable but I haven’t played it in forever.
Well that is my favorite button:D but the more you cast it the more it costs so you have to manage mana in the recovery phase. (burn phase is: blast - repeat until out of mana) I’m sure I could be a little more consistent in my rotation, but I’m hoping that’s not what’s holding me back from 15k+ dps.
If we ever get Sinestra down the trinket she drops is a mostly BiS for mages. Shard of Woe: Reduces the base mana cost of your spells by 205.

I’ve heard the same thing. I’ve played MM from day one; it’s a point of (stubborn and insensible) pride for me. And yeah, if the fight is right, and you roll perfectly, your DPS can explode. But if it’s a highly mobile fight, or your rotation is off, expect to be no better than middlin’, all other things (like gear) being equal.
Oh, well, I’m not playing WoW to min-max. Even on my vicious and brutal PvP realm, I like to “mentally roleplay” my character, so I decline to compromise his backstory or “his personality” to score higher DPS.
And that’s also one reason I don’t raid in a group: I don’t appreciate the subtle pressure (or not-so-subtle) an overachieving raid leadership team puts on the members to conform to their model of raid composition. I suppose I could LFR, once I study the fights enough, since they’re PUG and come-as-you are. But I haven’t found a raiding guild that would have me unless I toed their lines. (I won’t raid in a group where the guild Hunter Leader thinks he outranks me or something. I had 21 years in the military, thanks, I’ve seen pointless hierarchy, done it, still have the T-shirts.)

In other news, I put Usumbij and Tailspin (Betty) in one guild, and Boyhowdy in another. All my alts have over 1k g’s, and all the guildies know my limitations, so I’m trying to get as much time in those guilds as I can, while not forgetting my “main man”, da Wolk’.
Horde is using some interesting strategy for those of us guarding the flag: they send one of their group to us just to keep us “busy” I guess, by just running around and around making a nuisance of themselves. It seems to be working, 'cause I chased that little bastard everywhere in that area!

Congrats on Heroic Zon’ozz FlightlessBird!
My guild got our first Heroic Morchok Kill this week, then last night we killed Ragnaros to get the Legendary Weapon for our Boomkin (first one to get it in our guild). Fun, but i’ll probably never step foot in Firelands ever again lol.
We actually cleared up to Rag on wednesday, so just had to do the big guy last night, only took us two attempts, so we had time to go do a Ulduar achievement run. I cannot express how much i love Ulduar. Best. Raid. Ever.
Oh… and in what was probably our last firelands run ever, Staghelm finnally dropped the firekitty staff for the first time, so even though i won’t use it, i’m happpy feral druid… fun week in WoW for me this week.
Actually Pic is a healer with a ret off-spec. It helps that she is the only one on her token (Paladin/Priest/Warlock) And that token drops like crazy! So she has like 4 sets of tier tokens. If you were with us you’d be swimming in tier-gear As opposed to our 3 Shamans + Warrior + Hunter (Jas09) on one token. Or 2 Mages (1 being me:) a Druid and a Rogue.) Wow, our team makeup sucks for loot distribution 
Last night was weird. After finishing off DS the night before, we had a few no-shows. We were going to try and down Heroic Cho’Gall and see Sinestra. But instead we facerolled ICC10 (I’m a Kingslayer now!) and RS10. I really feel like we missed out on a great xpac story by not finishing ICC or Ulduar. I do hope they get back to that kind of stuff in MoP. (Though it doesn’t look good right now with no ‘Big Bad’)
ETA: Grats on the heroic kill Clawdio and the fire-kitty staff. We kept going back to try for our second staff, but interest has waned. Especially after we got the whole raid the Glory achievement. I’m sitting on 700+/1000 cinders (phase 2 of the staff).
So which general are you going to try next? Zon’ozz or Yor’sahj? We did Yor’Sahj first and it took a while. The key? DK tank!
I think yor’Sahj, and your tip is good news as our other tank is a DK.
Funny what you say about your token drops. We have same problem only for us its the Warrior Hunter Shaman token… We actually do have all three of those classes, but i believe all 3 have 5/5, with the shaman having most of his offspec too… we’ve been vendoring the tokens lately i think. Also.. our typical raid has 3 druids & 2 DK’s…
I think you’ll find that Yor is a pretty significant step up from Morchok. It was fun, but a bit frustrating learning since you’ll quickly master a few combinations and then insta-wipe on a tough one. Then you have to do it all over until you get that killer combo again.
Depending on your raid’s DPS you might want to do Ultraxion first. The mechanics are much easier than Yor or Zon’ozz, and with the 10% debuff you just need something like 32k DPS average. It’s also a much shorter fight, so you get more attempts in. We actually killed it in like 5 pulls after wiping for a week or two on Yor. Just a thought.

ALL guards, or just your own, in your home city? I mean, you HAVE to kill enemy guards to get to an objective, right?
Never understood that one. If it means anything other than one’s own guards, that is.

It just means that you don’t get honor points toward PvP rewards when you kill enemy guards. You have to kill player characters to get honor.
I’m getting some (apparently) worthless purple drops, Bold Stormjewel, being one. I thought purple was valuable, but with this one “matches a red socket”, I’m being told to vendor it?
This is a fishing drop.

It’s a level 80 purple gem, now there are level 85 purple gems. That’s why it’s no longer valuable.
I’m running 2-3 of my 85s through LFR per week, but I’m also trying to learn spriest (oh lawd, so bad at it), fire mage (burninate all the things!), and combat rogue (which end goes in the mob, again?).
I’m using Facemelter on the spriest plus NeedToKnow for tracking all the debuffs, and I’m still pretty bad, especially on multi fights. I’m poiting out something around 11-12K in my lolgear. /sigh So many debuffs to juggle D:
I suspect that if I can’t get the hang of it I’ll go back to holy spec (wtb trispec), as this was mainly born out of a desire to be able to solo H COS for transmog shoulders.
On the other hand, the baby fire mage is a lot of fun - we’re zooming through OL AOEing everything in sight. I’ll never get tired of having this tiny gnome girl blasting out giant flaming boulders of death and blowing everything up.
If any of my guildies are reading this, and if you have some you aren’t using, I need some elixir of water walking if you can spare it or sell it to me. None to be had in AH at a decent price and the drops aren’t happening for us right now.

PS: I picked up some baby spice yesterday. I forgot its importance, but banked it just in case.
This is one of the most aggravating of all the dailies I do, so to get around it, I went ahead and bought 2 bags (all I could get) of confectioner’s sugar from that guy in one of those places where you can find it, and am keeping it in one of my bags.
I WANT to buy all 4, but this guy isn’t offering any more for sale to me, and I haven’t been able to find it in the AH to buy either.
Am I just gonna have to grit my teeth and actually loot those other 2 bags?
On another topic, I’ve almost got Wolkie equipped with his “Ruthless” PvP gear (just needs the helm, now), so when that’s done, what would be my next step with him?
