New WoW General Discussion Thread 6/8/10

So are you “egging” yourself on, kushie? Because every time I’ve been in Goldshire, I’ve had to scoot around rugrats hopping all over the place.

Q

Don’t do Goldshire, Quasi! That’s the busiest one! I prefer Dolanaar, and Kharanos if I get bored.

I need Hunter gear advice, peeps!

My 4 piece bonus is: (4) Set: Your Arcane Shot ability has a chance to grant 30% haste to you and your pet for 15 sec.

The thing is, I have two remaining tier pieces to choose from: head and hands.

I currently have equipped: head and hands.

So if I equip the tier head, I lose 55 Agi. If i equip the tier hands, I lose 30 Agi (both after gemming and enchants).

Is my 4 set bonus worth losing the Agi from one of those items?

Almost certainly. I would verify with www.femaledwarf.com but it appears to be down right now.

But isn’t Agi the primary stat for a hunter? Elitist Jerks says Agi is worth more than other stats. I did do the Female Dwarf analyzer and my DPS was higher with the set bonus and Agi loss, but I’m not really understanding why. Oh wells.

Yes, but it’s like getting 15 seconds of bloodlust/heroism every minute and half to two minutes or so, which works out to being equivalent to over 500 haste (or 3000 haste for that 15s), when you do the math. And when you do the math, that haste bonus works out for more dps, in general.

If properly designed, the answer to the question “is it worth giving up X for my 4-pc bonus?” should always be yes. In fact, it should always be worth giving up X for your 2-pc bonus, too, unless X is the 4-pc bonus from the previous tier (and even then, if it’s not at least compelling to consider, the 2-pc bonus or the gear may not be well designed). That’s not to say some 4-pc bonuses haven’t been less than stellar in practice, but the goal should be that you want it, since the tier pieces are the reward for doing the hardest encounters.

… that one reason I enjoy playing the game so much is that I felt I was playing right along with y’all, even though we weren’t on the same servers all the time.

This isn’t a “pity party”, but I miss that this thread isn’t as populated as it once was.

I know a lot of folks left because of “burnout” and that’s fine with me, I understand that, but I felt that during the early days of playing, y’all were kinda looking over my shoulder, (even though I wasn’t making myself clear a lot of the time) and patiently helping me learn.

I hope that Blizz will figure out ways to make the game interesting and exciting again, so that this thread will be as it once was.

Just sayin’

Thanks

Q

Used to be, at least… now you get them for AFK’ing during the Raid Finder.

Don’t worry, things will pick up again once MoP is out. And I plan to be back

I’m still enjoying City of Heroes, and I just bought a Windows 7 laptop and have been trying out Aion as well.

I had to build up to 200 Commendation Points with the TB Wardens, but I finally did.

Her name is Silka too. Everything I ride is female and named that. (Except D of course!)

So that’s pretty much everything I can do on TB, right, guys? I mean, I can earn Commendation Points and gain guild experience, but really nothing more than that, right? I can finish my TB Peninsula quests in about 20 minutes if I apply myself and it isn’t too crowded, and I don’t need my “HELP!” macro anymore.

I’ve got so much gold, it’s boring to even go to the AH to sell anything, and all the alts have all they need, so maybe I should just let Wolkie go into semi-retirement (with Heather at the Sentinel Hill Inn) and * totally* work on the alts?

What do you guys recommend?

Thanks

Q

Grats Q! Yep it looks like you have TB finished now.

What are you after? New titles? New pets? New mounts? What do you enjoy most in wow at the moment? Can you remind me the full name of your toon so I can check his armory please?

You can always donate to my get me a Mekgineer’s Chopper fund!

At this point Quasi, as an 85 (top level is also known as endgame), the only place to start going is raids. If you don’t want to do that, then it’s time to play some alts!

Hi, I’m Rik, and I’m an altoholic!

(Dear Og, I’ve only been playing City of Heroes for seven months and I have 66 characters…)

Ouch, sorry Rik!

It slipped my mind (what there is OF it:)) that Rik recommended a better two-handed sword for Wolkenlaufre (for Martu who needed Wolkie’s whole name), and that means some more battles in TB and some easy PVP’s in Grizzly Hills.

That sword needs 4k HP and I’m only halfway there, so I guess that’s what I’ll be doing maybe also in addition to Achievements and Rep with some other factions.

Sound okay?

Sometimes I forget there are more things to do than just quests and/or dailies, but I am
proud that I have gotten as far as I have and I appreciate all my guildies (and, of course all of YOU) for helping me.

Y’all have certainly helped to make this game much more fun for me.

Quasi

If you are looking for something to aim for which can be done on your own time and solo I would suggest maybe trying for something like the Crusader title? For that you will need to raise your reputation with all the basic factions, dwarfs, elves etc, then be able to represent them in the Argent Tournament. You are looking to get the achievement Exalted Argent Champion of the Alliance the bonus is that by doing it you will pick up other achievements on the way like Ambassador. Plus you can get a lot of mounts this way to aim for the 100 mount achievement.

One warning it takes a long time and involves a lot of argent tournament dailies.

Thanks, martu. I took a look at the link. Does any of this involve jousting? 'Cause if so, I’m sunk. Never have been able to master it. :frowning:

Thanks

Q

Couple of things I’ve noticed in the game:

  1. The “Report Lag” button has been removed from the “make a ticket” section

  2. If you use that Victory Rush function, the target will bow his/her head. Why? It’s supposed to be a surprise attack, right, and they’re not supposed to see you coming?

Thanks

Q

It stuns them for a moment, IIRC.

Yeah, okay, Rik. I remember now. That’s why they have that blue “tornado-looking” thing whirling around their heads. :smack:

Also, you didn’t comment, but am I right to believe those lag reports are useless?

Thanks

Q

Yeah, I wondered why they even had an option for that.

Some jousting yes that’s a pity.

Have you tried soloing all the low level dungeons? Can be fun and gets you an achievement I think.
