Too soon? I’ve been the worst at keeping my resolutions in the past, but this year I really want to live it up, you know? Browsing through the archives, I stumbled upon this thread. Basically, people were talking about missed opportunities and living life to its fullest.
My resolutions this year won’t include some of the “usual” ones like quitting smoking, losing weight/exercising more, or saving money/getting out of debt… they’re going to be more along the lines of no holds barred FUN and ADVENTURE!
I definitely want to travel more. A buddy of mine has been working across the country in Arizona and wants some friends from back home to visit him this summer. His master plan is to organize a sky-diving trip. Now, I’m awfully afraid of heights and also not too keen on dying, but what the hell? I want this year to be epic, so this is definitely one of my goals.
Also, in 2009, I want to go on a camping trip that involves white water rafting, rappelling off a steep cliff, paintball, huge bonfires, and hunting dangerous game.
I also want to interact with as many people as possible in as many settings as possible. This could happen at the grocery store, at the park, just walking down the street, in bars, whatever. I want to be more outgoing have that “up for anything” attitude… kind of like Jim Carrey in that new “Yes Man” movie.
Oh jeez, that’s another one I should add! Keeping up with my adventure theme, cleaning out my room WILL be an adventure! That, and keeping it clean! Exclamation points!
Lose 20 lbs. Technically I need to lose more than that but I’d like to make the weight loss a slow, steady thing in hopes that it will stay off this time. My weight tends to jump up and down pretty frequently and I’d like to stop that.
I’d like to travel someplace I’ve never been before. It doesn’t have to be out of the country or expensive, just somewhere I’ve not yet been.
I also want to sign up for a martial art with my boyfriend. We are trying to decide between aikido and kung-fu at the moment and hopefully we will find a class that is a good, central location between the two of us.
Well, this is the first thought I’ve given to the matter for this year, but I think it will go something like this…
-have fun every day
-eat yummy food every day
-have a glass of wine or a beer -yep- every day
-get a new tub and sink to go with my new toilet
-plant 150 more trees
-try again to grow vegetables
-buy more tools
-tinker with the Belvedere
There may be other pleasant activities and diversions to add to the list, but it’s a start.
Hmm, I suppose that’s another one. I just recently purchased an acoustic guitar along with an instructional book.
Learning to play the guitar is HARD. For me at least. For some reason, I just pictured myself plugging away for hours every evening until I mastered it. I would then play for my friends and they would all be amazed.
Looks like it will just end up in the corner of my room to collect dust. How tragic.
I also want to settle down with a steady girlfriend and touch her no no spots.
