This passed week, I’ve seen some good and interesting things said and, when I’ve looked at the names, I’ve realized that these are people are new to the SDMB. Since we seem to have a particularly good group of newbies right now, I thought I’d extend them a proper welcome.
GMRyujin, Priam, bjohn12, and Copaesthetic welcome to what one former Doper called “cyber-crack”. I hope I get to read a lot more from you.
If anyone else has someone they’ve noticed and would like to welcome, speak up.

MercyStreet captured my attention from her first post, and continues to do so. My immediate impression was, “This is someone I want to be friends with.”
**Bond, James Bond **has already pissed me off a few times, but he seems to be willing and able to remain reasonable and to continue to engage in debate even after people have called him names. I think he is occasionally getting nailed (as I did for the first six months) by the fact that exaggeration for effect will get your called on the carpet here, and that you have to be terribly precise (even when ranting).
I haven’t read everything he posts, but based on his style in two threads in the pit, I suspect he could end up a long-timer here with good contributions from the less-popular sides of debates.
Yes, it does seem to be a rich crop of newbies lately. That’s why we’re trying to move up in the draft, perhaps via trade for a Doper to be named later or cash. We feel that there are several newbies out there that could make an immediate impact and start for several teams right out of the gate. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that this is the best newbie class since early 2001.
We’ve also met many lovely newbies (and older lurkers) in the Unknown Posters thread. I’ve noticed a number of great newbies out here lately, but since I like to speak in generalities, yay newbies! 
That should be that I would like to speak in generalities, not that I have done so in the past.
I’ve been enjoying the hell out of 2trew’s posts…though at over 600 in three months, I don’t know if he qualifies as “newbie”…
