Are we just getting a bunch of old returning Dopers, or have a lot of people decided to change their username? I’m seeing a lot of names I don’t even vaguely recognize from posters that have been here much longer than me.
Was there maybe a rash of name changes following the April Fools Day mod naming shenanigans?
Or am I just seeing things?

I probably look new. It’s because I think I lurked long enough and basically don’t care anymore what people think of my posts. And surprisingly, this board is much less full of snark than others I’ve been on equally as long.
I’ve on hiatus for a few years, and I’m back- but before I left I had changed my name. But I doubt I’m the one you’re probably thinking of, though I recognize your name.

Name changes the last month or two aren’t anything out of the ordinary.
I, personally, think I’ve noticed quite a few posters who I don’t recognize their name but they joined 3-6 years ago.
Absolutely no rash of name changes connected with the corn.

I joined, but only lurked, for a number of years. About a year ago, I finally worked up courage to start posting. I mentioned, “I’m new here,” and someone said I couldn’t be, because of my join date!
I have not observed this phenomenon.
