News IQ Quiz: What Do You Know?

11/12. I missed the question about people living at or below the poverty line (I thought we had mo po folk).

12/12.

I guessed on the poverty one, and wasn’t positive on the Sunni / Shia one. The rest I was confident I knew.

12/12. My only guess was whether the US spent more on SS or interest. Some I didn’t know exact figures on, like federal minimum wage, but I knew they were trying to raise it to $10.50 so I picked the next lower number. That was a sort of a guess, I guess.

12 out of 12. Surprised me.

  1. I answered interest when I should have answered Social Security.

I did guess on two, but at least I had the guess narrowed down to 50/50. Those were unemployment rate and poverty line.

I thought I was doing good at 92% until I looked at the other Dopers results.

75%, pretty good for a Brit.

12 out of 12.

Handy mnemonic for Shia populations :- IRAN and IRAQ are both majority SHIA. All three have 4 letters.

12 of 12, better than 99% of the public and the same as 1%, no guesses.

12 for 12, but I had to do the Fed Chairman one by process of elimination. If it weren’t multiple choice, I would never have come up with the name.

Surprises me because I hate the news and avoid it at all costs.

That being said, my car is always on NPR and the news is (obviously) part of that, so I think I’m getting it by a bit of osmosis.

Looking at the answers the ones that I got right are the ones I knew (or really had a good idea), and the ones I got wrong are the ones I guessed at

I got 9 out of 12- I was guessing on the percentage of people below the poverty line and the unemployment rate.

11/12, also over-estimated poverty numbers. The only other one I wasn’t sure about was SS vs. interest payments, and I guessed right.

I missed the current Prime Minister of Isreal. 11 of 12

10 out of 12. I knew I shouldn’t have switched my answer away from Social Security (it’s always wrong to second guess your answer).

12 out of 12 and not even American.

10/12 92%

Missed unemployement, I thought 9% (whoo hoo, 6%! Thanks Obama!), and poverty, I put 35% but am glad its only 15%

What the everloving fuck. I literally picked at random, without looking at the questions or the answers, clicking anything that I felt like, and got:

…I’m not sure this test is all that accurate.

I am serious when I say I only attempted to answer the first three questions correctly, got bored, and then clicked my way at random.

Missed one, because I figured the national debt vs social security question was a trick one.

96%

Had a really weird experience. Was scored 6 of 12, but when I looked at the answers the six questions I supposedly missed where not even questions that were asked.
