Newsweek review of Dave Matthews Band's new album

There were a couple threads a month ago about the incredible suckiness of DMB. Here is a good corollary to those threads:

“A bandmate’s death can’t excuse sub-Jewel lyrics, or playing sterile enough to work as birth control.” - Seth Colter Walls (Newsweek 6/22/09)

“Sub-Jewel lyrics.” Ouch. That’s a critical nuke.

I’m no fan of Dave Matthews, but I’m even less of a fan of rock critics. God knows it’s easy enough to get a good idea of new releases for free on the internet. If you like the music you should buy it, regardless of what some pseudo-intellectual poseur thinks.

I found it pretty consistant with every other Dave Matthews Band album. You’ll like it if you like Dave Matthews. If you don’t like his music, well, you won’t be surprised.
