Next Comedy Central Roast: Charlie Sheen

Nice.

Think there will be a few jokes about his behavior from a few months ago?

I was really enjoying not hearing the younger Sheen’s name as of late. I guess all things must come to a horse’s ass.

Where’s it going to be held, on the corner of Awkward Street and Uncomfortable Drive?

I don’t think I could bear to watch that. What does it say about Charlie Sheen that he is participating in this? That he’s completely out of touch with reality?

Nailed it.

And for the exact same reasons, I don’t think I could bear to miss it.

I see this as about the only way I can get entertainment from Sheen. Certainly that abysmal sitcom couldn’t, if its ads were a good representation of it. And I love these roasts.

Shoots in September? It seems pretty optimistic to be making months-away plans with the dude.

Did the little piggy cry, “Whee! Whee! Whee!” all the way home?

Too easy of a target to be particularly funny. Plus the guy seems honestly mentally ill, which makes making fun of his antics less fun. Calling a normal person stupid can be funny, calling a retarded person stupid makes you an asshole.

CC seems to have completely forgotten the fact that roasts are meant to be of someone somewhat respectable, not someone who already gets made fun of nightly on talk shows.

OTOH, as far as the performers are concerned, the material practically writes itself.

I don’t know if I’d agree with the “somewhat respectable” part of your post - I don’t think any parts of Pamela Anderson or Donald Trump are still respectable - but I do agree that the world has been having a Charlie Sheen roast for over six months now. And it’s not like people have been taking it easy on him. How many more jokes about STDs can there be?

Like shooting fish in a barrel.

Both Pam and Trump were roasted by Comedy Central, not the Friars’ Club. The Friars did roast Trump back in 2004, but he was arguably a shade more respectable back then than he has been lately.

Basically, the roasts started sucking when Comedy Central took them over rather than just hosting the Friars.

I’ve also read it’ll be on opposite Ashton Kutcher’s debut on Two and a Half Men.

Yeah, I wasn’t referring just to the upcoming Sheen roast.

Why don’t they make it really fun and do Glenn Beck, too? I might watch that.

Because there’s no way he would agree to do it, and in any case Jon Stewart already did a better job than the Comedy Central Roast stable (and the usually awful celebrity roasters) ever could. This does seem like an awfully easy target, and involving Charlie Sheen enables the insanity.

Speaking of Jon Stewart, has he ever been roasted? Because I’d like to see that.
