Has anyone seen the trailer for this one ?

I think it looks pretty good. I saw Jessica Biel on the view today (she is so awesome) and she was talking about it. The movie looks like it might have a bit of a Sci-Fi thing going on in it.

A dumb name for a movie, the trailer looked just like a male-version of the now-playing Premonition.

This of course, brings up a sticky dilemma–if you had to bet which was worse (the Sandra Bullock one or the Nic Cage one), which one would you bet on? Seems like even money to me.

The name does not bother me, it goes with the theme of the movie. Have not seen either of the two so I could not make a guess. From the previews of the Bullock movie it looks like she is just having some serious deja vu. Next looks pretty interesting in the fact it might have some tricky Sci-Fi elements to it.

I’d rather see Don’t.

I read on IMDB that in theaters they play the trailer for Next twice, back to back as a gimmick.

You know what they did do that when I saw Distrubia but I just thought the machine was broken, if that was the case that is good marketing.

The movie sounds like The Dead Zone crossed with The Rock. And since Michael Bay is still hiding out on some anonymous island in the South Pacific after his last schlockfest, I see they have turned to hackmaster extraodinaire Lee Tamahori to direct, so you know it’s going to be…well, let’s just say that Die Another Day was not a high watermark for the Bond franchise.

Next is probably more risible–you can sit in the cinema and mentally sketch out the future Onion A.V. Club Movies That Time Forgot review–but the Sandra Bullock film is probably better to watch with the sound off, since you can at least look at her without morbidly pondering what qualities could possibly make her a star.

How about The 3?

Stranger

Somewhere along the way he sold his soul to the devil, but I still try to remember and think of him as the man who made the powerful film Once Were Warriors. It helps ease the pain. Or, makes it greater, depending on my mood.

Lee Tamahori is not that bad, he has done some pretty good films so I would not go to the extreme of saying he sold his soul to the devil. I think the movie will be worth a shot. It looks entertaining so I will check it out this weekend.

I think this movie looks so awful. I don’t know what Nicholas Cage is thinking these days. And there is just no way that Jessica Biel would ever be attracted to that weird wig thing he’s calling hair. STUPID. This is coming from the girl who just bumped The Wicker Man to the top of her netflix queue solely because I heard that Cage runs around in a bear suit at the end, so you know, don’t mind me!

I have no idea if Biel would be attracted to him or not but I guess that is why they call it acting:) The movie does not look as bad as you all are making it out. I mean if you like Sci-Fi and you like action then it looks interesting, but to each his own. Once I see it I can make a judgement about the film. Come to think about it Ghost rider looked like a strange movie but it turned out to be pretty good and a big block buster;)

It got a pretty bad review in today’s NY Times- registration required, but here are tidbits:

although, there’s this to look forward to:

Some people will not like it and some people will. It all depends upon your particular taste, and that of the reviewer. I read this review this morning about the film

For some the do not really go by reviews, I know I just have to see it first.

I saw this last Friday…and I enjoyed it. Sure it was full of holes, but what kind sci-fi adventure flick isn’t? Basic premis was interesting…they threw and interesting twist in and the end that I didn’t see coming, and had lots of stuff blowing up…what’s not to like? Oh, and lets not forget Ms. Biel in the towel…ummm. So worth a watch if you’re looking for an action popcorn flick while waiting for Spiderman 3 to come out.

Saw it over the weekend and really liked it. That is until the last 3 minutes where the story gives you a big twist ending that undoes everything that came before. It was such a let down that it lowers my opinion of the rest of the movie which I was really digging.

I saw this film on a plane yesterday while coming back from New Zealand. I agree with el_nombre. The ending lets the film down badly.

I’ve seen the future where this zombie thread is banished, but I’d just like to chime in that I saw Next in theatre and though I thought the premise was somewhat interesting, the Julianne Moore character and the ending were the film’s two broken legs.
