NFC East 2009

I’m a skins fan. It’s a painful season. The joy I get is from watching Orakpo and Carter abuse people with stunts. Plus, amusing myself watching Haynesworth. He still takes plays off, but the o-line can’t tell when he’s going to do that so they double him even when he’s half power.

Eh. All things considered, I’m not as furious with Campbell and Zorn any more. The failure is larger than either of them. I’m even beginning to believe that Campbell will be back next year. I mean, realistically, they need 2 starting o-linemen in the draft. And they only have 5 picks. There isn’t much chance that they’ll be able to draft a new QB. And trading picks for someone that could start now would be just as painful.

The real question is who replaces Zorn, and what demands do they make of Synder?

Fuck fuckitty fuck fuck fuck.

Antonio Pierce out indefinitely

No one in the game is better at making defensive adjustments on the fly. This sucks…

True, but he’s undersized and has lost a step, which is particularly concerning because his original step was slow.

I’m a big fan of Chase Blackburn; hopefully he’ll step in and play well. Maybe this will force Osi (or even Tuck) into more of a leadership role. Osi’s been the lost man this season. At least Tuck was hurt; Osi’s just been AWOL for no apparent reason.

Gah, the Cowboys finally find their defense and their offense has apparently been hijacked by Cleveland. Even using more run plays didn’t really help. At least it was a win, but if they don’t straighten out the offense, this team isn’t going anywhere. Now I just have to hope that the Falcons can do something in overtime and the Bears can play like the Raiders against the Eagles.

Who suggested hiring a medium to channel Vince Lombardi? I’m on board.

Even pulling plays out of a hat would be better than the Skins’ current playcalling. Screen pass, screen pass, screen pass, punt. UGH. Shoot me.

I was otherwise occupied watching the Giants almost lose to the Falcons. What happened in the Cowboys-Redskins game? Was it good defensive play or offensive ineptitude?

Both. Albert Haynesworth didn’t play, so the Cowboys were able to run at will. However, the league has apparently figured out the key to stopping the Cowboys’ passing game*, so Romo and his receivers were largely ineffective.

The Redskins lost Ladell Betts to a knee injury in the first quarter, so they were had a third-string running back (Rock Cartwright) in to complement all their third-string offensive linemen.

*“Cover Miles Austin”. I know, it sounds crazy, but it works!

Strangely Tony Romo’s interception was the better choice than throwing it away. On 4th and 2, about to be sacked, he flicked it toward on of his receivers but was high, probably netting them a good 5 yards as opposed to throwing it out of bounds. Marion Barber’s fumble, however, really hurt as they were driving in the Red Zone early on.

Oh what a nice day for Cowboy fans. The offense is starting to get back on track, the defense is still looking good and the Giants looked terrible. Now I just have to…to…to…to…root for the Redskins.

I don’t see any way the Giants make the playoffs this year. Bill Sheridan is just not getting it done.

The Rams still suck. Is it inconceivable to imagine being able to hire Steve Spagnuolo back as defensive coordinator next year?

Well, Gilbride isn’t exactly tearing it up, either. There had to be a half dozen second or third and shorts in that game and the Giants might have run on play where they gave it to Jacobs and had him run straight at the line. Did he not see that trying to string it out wasn’t working against a Bronco’s D that was happy to see Jacobs running North-South? Or was the Giant’s offensive coordinator secretly replaced by Andy Reid?

Probably – since Spags inherited a garbage team, he’s going to get a ton a leeway. There’s zero chance he gets fired before 2011, so he’d have to walk away.

Then what? Go back to where he had just come from? Sure he earned a ring here, but now it’s about doing it as a head coach – that’s the pinniacle. So unless something happens where Coughlin’s chair ends up vacant, then yes, it’s pretty inconceivable that you’ll be seeing Spagnuolo on the Giants’ sideline next year.

Oh Andy Reid and his onside kicks…

Dear Andy:

Haw haw!

I suppose it’s about time I just come out and admit it: It scares me to death how fricking good DeSean Jackson is.

Well, the funny thing is you don’t have to cover him at all inside the 40.

1 down, 2 to go. NFC East is wide open, unless you are the Redskins.

Dear Cowboys:

Haw haw!

I never knew Flozell Adams was such a piece of shit. The tripping thing, ok, you shouldn’t do that but it happens, and I don’t think it’s any more wrong just because Tuck happened to get injured on the play.

His blatant cheap shot in the back yesterday, however. . .

I’m so fucking tired of the Redskins secondary always staring into the backfield and letting their receivers blow right by them. That’s why the Brandon Marshalls and Robert Meachems keep lighting them up every week.

Not that it would even matter if we had a kicker who could convert from 23 yards out. God, I hate our team.
