NFL 2021: The Super Bowl

I expected much better play by Stafford.

Why? He’s been super shaky for the last 12 weeks or so. And he’s never played in a meaningful game before this postseason.

Wow, what a desperate play call. Not looking good for my wagers.

If Kupp just runs he probably converts it.

That was a crazy little Philly Special attempt.

Because the Bengals were bottom 10 in passing yards allowed.

Stafgord was open and woulda had a first down. That miss was on Kupps pass, not the play call.

I mean…do you really blame a WR for throwing a bad pass and an old, fat QB for not being able to adjust?

I too expected the Rams passing game to be successful, but not because Stafford “played well”. More that he was competent enough to not completely undermine it…yet I was wrong.

But you blame the play call which, if executed, would have worked.

That’s pretty much the definition of bad play call, no? When you put players in situations they aren’t used to, that’s on the coach.

And it appears that stupid play might have led to Stafford getting nicked up. So great job all around.

Take that back…was a different play.

Yeah, even though I picked the Bengals by 3*, I hate to see that. I hope that doesn’t end up being the critical play that decides it.

*Really, it’s a wish. I’d like a close game and I’d like to see a new team win it. I haven’t watched much football (2 hours total, maybe?) this season, so my choice isn’t based on any insight or analysis or anything.

Do you imagine that the Rams never practiced that play? Or that Kupp couldnt make the pass, but McVey insisted on calling it?

Whatever.

Bengals DC deserves a ton of credit for the AFC Championship game and now this one no matter how it ends.

It’s sports radio hot take syndrome. You’re better off ignoring it.

I’m a bit surprised neither team is trying a no-huddle or more 4 wide/spread stuff to stress the defense.

Rams don’t have 4 WR tho.

They apparently dont have an O line either.

So…if Kupp makes a good pass and the play results in a first down, then it’s a good play call?

That’s usually how it works. But the point is, that’s an incredibly low percentage play called at a time when you don’t need to do stuff like that. And the result was predictable. Had he made a better throw Stafford wasn’t even across the 1st down line.
